“You get what you pay for with this hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2010

It is pretty inexpensive and you get what you would expect when you don't pay much. We paid 62 euros per night. Walk in cost was advertised as 87 euros per night.
Hotel Florenc is the only hotel I have stayed in requiring you to pay in full when you arrived. Bit odd.
We stayed for 4 nights so got a good feel for how the hotel runs.
Location to old town is 15 minutes walk so that's okay.
Breakfasts are very sparse and very average quality so we paid to eat out even though they were included in the room charge.
Hit and miss with cleaners and with reception service.
We are young and not too fussy as we weren't in the room very often but we met up with a group of 15 middle aged couples who were traveling together and they were thoroughly disappointed by this hotel.
I wouldn't stay here again but we got 4 nights in Hotel Florenc for the price of 2 nights in some other European cities so happy enough with the outcome.

Hotel is situated north west of main district and app. 200 metres from main bus depot where international buses run. The room itself was a clean, and for the price of 46 euros, was excellent value for money. It was clean, reasonably spacious. Bfast was included in rate and included Cerals, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, juice, sausages, egss and weird czech stuff that I have no idea what itwas (Avoid it, its nasty). Checkout was till 12pm. Beds were really comfy and minimal disruptive noise at night. I would recommend to anyone who wants a clean hotel room on a budget. Reception in manned 24 hours and they were helpful in allowing us to leave our bags well beyond checkout time. The best part is, it is three doors down from a local pub that has the largest beer menu in Czech republic. And the food there is amazing. Would def. stay here again for the price.

We have been using this hotel because company used it. Because they offer the cheapest deal around.Double room single use for 20Euro. If you are thinking about paying more, don't.

But the receptionist were terribly unfriendly , Cleaning ladies are so ignorant. They do not bother to change sheets. One day I asked to give me 2towels instead of one, they are so frustrated about it.

Not only these, my room 104's telephone did not work at all. My family tried to call but did not make any noise so I had to come down and beg to use a phone on the reception. Shower door was broken and could not shut properly. One of the bedside-lamp was not working either.

Most terrible this was...internet connection.
There were hardly any internet reception in our rooms. Everybody seem to be the same because everybody was sitting on a staircase or narrow reception area checking emails in the evenings. We are so fed up with this and complained few times, receptionist was swearing in Czech.

It is convenience to go to the bus stop but city center is about 20min walk.

I really can not stand these receptionists. They are so unhelpful. They care watching Youtube more than care for the customers.

Breakfast was OK but do not take any hams. I had a strange taste and after eating the ham, I had funny feelings on my stomach all day. They use leftover ham to make salad next day, be careful if your stomach is not strong, this salad is provided on the breakfast too.

Out trip ended up with big argument with one of the receptionists. They were so rude and I can not recommend this hotel to anyone. This ruined our whole trip.

I stayed there with my temporary boyfriend for 4 nights in January 2010. Hotel has an excellent location, walking distance to the center, although the city streets were covered in snow thus making the walking a bit longer, as they're not regularly cleaned and the snow literally didn't stop falling for 5 days. The stuff was somewhat friendly, although at first it didn't seem so. The day we got there, we met a couple checking out and were asking the receptionist if he could change them €2 in crowns so they can get a metro ticket but he said they didn't have an exchange office. I understand it wasn't his job but sometimes little things you do for the guests mean a lot more than any service your hotel is offering. We got the room No 203 which gives out to the main street where the bus station is and one would think it'd be noisy but it was very quiet.
We first made a booking for one night only, but later made an additional booking through a web site for the next 3 nights and announced it at the reception that we would like to stay in the same room, which was arranged. However we were awaken by the cleaning lady the morning after as she was not aware of this and was trying to kick us out. She didn't speak any English but she contacted the reception desk and then left us alone.
Most of the days we slept in late and our room was not cleaned. The towels were a bit old and worn out but we didn't make a fuss about it. On our last night, we noticed that cleaning lady was there but she only made our beds, sheets or towels weren't changed, and the trash has not been taken out but we were leaving the morning after, so again, we didn't bother.
Before booking this hotel, I made a thorough search on various sites and Florenc always came out as one of the cheapest ones in Prague 1 district. We payed €22 for double night with breakfast included. We only had it once, sausages, boiled eggs, watery juice and coffee, toast, cereals, ham, cheese, butter, marmalade.. It was not the tastiest breakfast I had but it was edible enough to get you through till lunchtime.
I read reviews of some other hotels in Prague and many complained about lack of heating or warm water, and I dreaded freezing in a hotel room. Florenc room was overheated.. but being in Prague with 3 degrees below zero, walking for hours in 30 cm of snow where even your Goretex protected feet get soaked and close to hypothermia, you look forward to getting back to your hotel room and you don't mind the dry air or the heat.
My boyfriend accused me of "stinking up" our bathroom but actually it was some unpleasant smell coming out of the toilet, which , again, we didn't mind that much, we just let the ventilation fan working all the time and the soothing noise it was making can help you sleep better.
The TV was tiny.. and I mean very tiny.. with only one channel in English (CNN), one Russian (I think), couple in Czech (I think) and Eurosport in German (for sure), showing Dakar race and Snooker championship for 4 days. We would lay upside down in bed so we can read the results and were actually having fun (even though, neither of us speak any German).
Both, railway and bus station are very close to the hotel and a trip to the Airport takes approximately 1 hour, subway to Dejvice station and then a public bus to Terminals. Taxi takes some 20 minutes but we voted for a €1 ticket against €25 taxi ride. For the price difference I suggest you look for a beautiful restaurant in Politických vězňů street (walking distance to the hotel) and treat yourself and your partner with a two course meal (lunch menu offer till 14,45 hrs) and best beer you can find.

We have been travelling a lot and have stayed at many hotels around Europe and hotel Florenc was the worse experience ever! The hotel is rated 3 stars but honestly is worth only low 2 stars. The location is not too bad as it is a walking distance to the Old Town (around 10 minutes) but the area is pretty rough. Going through the scruffy entrance door you are not getting a positive first impression at all. We were given a room number 200 (in the half floor between 1st and 2nd floor). The room was 3x3m, double bed and a wardrobe. The carpet in the room had massive dirty stains all over and the curtains in the window were very filthy and looked like they have never been washed before. The light in the bathroom didn’t work. We have asked to be moved to the other room and we were given room 303. The room was slightly bigger but the state of the floor and the window curtains did not improved. In addition the room faced the main road and it was quite noisy from passing cars. We spoke to the manager and we were moved again to the room 404 where we stayed for 5 nights. The room was a reasonable size and much cleaner (except the curtains). The biggest disadvantage of it was the heating – the radiator ran on a full speed day and night and the room was incredible hot! The valve to adjust the temperature was broken and we had to sleep with the open window (-5 degrees outside). We have asked the reception to turn it down but we were told that they would have to turn off the heating in the whole hotel but some of the rooms are cold and people have to get extra blankets to be warm. The 14” TV had only 2 channels (German EuroSport and CNN) and the batteries in the remote controller were broken. We have asked the reception to replace them, together with the bulb from the little lamp but it has never been done. We were given a password for the Wi-Fi which did not work at all. The breakfast included in the room price was ridiculous – ham (or rather ham-a-look something), cheese, boiled eggs and sausage with old, dry bread which you could toast were served every day. The good thing about the hotel was the cleaning service – linens and towels were changed daily but from 8.30 in the morning you could hear cleaning ladies shouting to each other across the corridors and using the vacuum cleaners so forget about sleeping in. Generally speaking it was the worse value for money. So don’t waste your cash and energy for this hotel – it is simple not worth it!!

We ve just come back from a week in prague and the only thing that made our trip terrible was this hotel. In general because I also work in the hotel industry I m very patient with everything but this was a really bad experience. As said we stayed in this hotel for a week. They didnt even bother to change the bed sheets not even after we told them so.(the receptionist didnt even know what ''sheet'' means!!)The room was exactly what we describe as basic.(basic= bed, bathroom)Not even a small painting on the wall, nothing.Besides the dirtyness of the room the other thing that bother me was the breakfast.Except from being the most basic breakfast I ve ever seen the dirtyness was there too.We were trying to find a clean cup to drink coffee!!We only ate twice.
It is true that we chose this hotel because it close to the city center and it was really cheap. But now that I now why I wish I could stay elsewhere even if I had to pay some extra money.

A modest but super hotel for a couple of nights with helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is in a convenient part of the city only 100 metres from the metro and bus station. Breakfast is taken in an adjacent restaurant, plenty of choice but do take your own teabags as theirs is mainly floral tea. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable but with very poor towels and the bathroom was only adequate with a toilet that did not evacuate it's contents properly. We ate in the restaurant both nights, very good food, and local wine and beer, excellent value for money with lots of lively local people which gave it some atmosphere. The stunning receptionists and pleasant guy in reception were great, all of them most helpful and this is the great strength of the hotel, they even printed my BA boarding pass and arranged excellent transport to the airpot for 200 crowns per person, although the airport is easily reached by metro and bus. Super hotel for a short stay, and a good mix of young and old patrons, some back packers also as the hotel was very reasonable in price. Although we are in our mid 70s we do not always enjoy the company of elderly "crinklies", good to be around in the presence of young and lively locals, well done Florenc!!.
