“Good Hotel With A Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2007

I stayed at the hotel with four friends when we visited Prague as part of a birthday celebration. The hotel was in a great location, only a15 minute walk from Wenceslas Square, and across the road from Florenc Metro Station, which is on two lines and only two stops from the very city centre.

The hotel itslef was very clean, rooms were more that comfortable, and fairly spacious. The bathroom was again very clean with a good shower, although the water temperture was a bit tempermental and the toilet seat would not easily stay up.

From previous stays in Prague hotels I was not expecting the best breaksfast, but Hotel Florenc offered a wide variety of options. We ate in the hotel bar one night, which was also not too bad at all and reasonably priced. Service at the hotel was good as well, in particular one receptionist who was very friendly and helped us with many queries. Every night we were very late back to the hotel, which I have found problems with in previous hotels, but this was not a problem here, as a night porter quickly came to let us in. We only had one problem which was 1000 Kc (£25) going missing from one of the rooms, which we suspected the cleaner of stealing, although we were not 100% sure.

Some parts of the hotel need updating (the carpets), and a quicker lift needs installing but overall a very pleasant hotel and great base for the most fantastic of cities! I would definatly stay again and would certainly recommend the hotel.

I ordered a bunch of info from various tourism bureaus for a long trip, and one place I wanted to visit was Prague. One criterion was that I wanted a hotel near a subway stop and Hotel Florenc was just a few steps away from one.
It was a pastel sea green hotel when I stayed there. You cant miss it in the daytime. It was not by the central train station and central shopping district, and therefore, it may not be the first choice of many. However, I enjoyed it. The hotel has a contract with the restaurant next door for breakfast, which I found typical for Europe - nothing spectacular but it was good. It also served good food for dinner as well. The rooms were okay- again not big not small and it met my needs for a single person travelling.

Two surprises for me were that they asked for one night's stay up front and since I arrived late with no koruna, i could not pay. they held my passport for the night until I came up with the cash.

the other surprise was making the reservation through email directly with the hotel. A gentleman who does their email kept saying that there is no room and offered another hotel, even though that I could make a booking on the internet. I called overseas to make the reservation.

  • Disliked — making the reservation

we went to prague for the christmas atmosphere, and had a great time. the hotel was friendly, clean, cheap and cosy and not to far from the sights. the small pub across the road was friendly and cheap and stayed open all night. no tea and coffee making facilities though so take your own travel kettle. would definatly stay there again.

We wanted to include an afternoon at Prague Race course for the Sunday afternoon horse racing in our itinerary. The Hotel Florenc was on the right side of the city for the racing and also only just over 15 minutes walk to the Tourist sights . Hotel was better than expected for the price we paid. The rooms were a good size and comfortable although we found the beds to be a bit hard. the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.. The breakfast room was nice but the choice of food in the self service buffet was not up to much, although you could eat as much as you liked. also a bar which we utilised later in the evening.. No tea making facilities which was a shame and there was a fan in the room in case of need. Overall we thought the Hotel Florenc was a good choice for us with more positives and negatives. if you are happy with a good value accommodation just outside the Tourist area then we can recommend it here. If you want a luxurious City Centre location then it is definitely not for you.

  • Liked — Good value for money
  • Disliked — Slightly further from the city centre than we would have ideally liked
  • Tips/Secrets — Avoid first floor rooms at front of hotel as they are directly above the bar which can be noisy

We were highly satisfied with the Florenc Hotel. It was situated about 15 minutes walk from the Old Town but the metro station to take you direct was 2 minutes away if you preferred public transport. The rooms were above average size for the class of hotel and there was plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. The bathroom and shower were first class. The beds were a little hard. The reception staff were friendly and helpful giving information on getting around. Buffet breakfast was plentiful but limited in choice. a nice bar if you fancied a drink when returning to the hotel. No tea making facilities or hairdryer as stated on hotels web site which was a disappointment. All round a great choice and good value.

  • Liked — The spacious rooms, excellent bathroom, friendly staff, plentiful but limited breakfast and nice bar.
  • Disliked — No tea making facilities or hairdryer in rooms as stated on hotelk web site.
  • Tips/Secrets — Use Cedaz mini bus to and from airport direct to hotel. Bookable on arrival, Cheap and efficient.

On arrival hotel staff where very freindly and helpful. hotel is clean rooms are spaceous but no air con they provide a cold air fan which does the job very well. The hotel is not far away from the Gun powder tower, it takes approx 10-15 min walk we did not need to use the public transport at all the hotel is near to the edge of the city centre.

We found a lot of choice of resturants but if you like to eat good food on the cheap then stay out of the main sqaures, we found a lovely little bar come resturant that gave us 2 courses plus 0.5ltr of wine and 2 ltr of beer for 800kc the beer on its own cost 35kc per 0.5ltr. if you like to sit in an old converted wine cellar there is a lovly resturant called Fischer cafe & resturant just in the back street off the old town sqaure it on a street called Jakubska 6 both these resturants serve typical czech quisine and other dishes. there is lots to see just ask recption for a tourist map. there is a lot of guided tours they all start around the old town square by the clock.
