“Great Location and Customer Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

This hotel is located just off of Wenceslas Square and is within walking distance to two (2) different subway stations. The staff is friendly and were able to answer any questions we had about the area. Especially during the Christmas Market season, we would highly recommend this hotel, as it is in easy walking distance to all of the different markets. The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious by comparison. We will definitely sta at the Radisson Blu on our next trip to Prague.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

I had a very enjoyable 4 night stay at the Alcron in December.
The hotel is in a good central location, but benefits from being just off the bustling Wenceslas Square. Old Town Square is a 10/15 minute walk, with plenty to see on the way and many of the major sights are also within a similar distance. Some sights are a little further away but are easily accessible by public transport, which we found to be clean and safe. Both the Mustek and Muzeum metro stations are 2 minutes away in Wenceslas Square and the number 22 tram (which goes to the castle) stops just around the corner. Tickets for public transport are available from reception and the staff helpfully advised us of the best routes to take.

Our room was spacious and clean and had with all of the features you would expect from a five-star hotel. The room was comfortable, with decor that was modern but still in keeping with the Art Deco style of the hotel. The only two (very minor) issues I would pick up on were the lack of a main light in the room and the thinness of the walls.

As always, it was well worth shopping around for the best rate. In particular, I would recommend comparing the prices of rates with and without breakfast; in our case, it only cost an extra £20 to add breakfast for two people for four days.
The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection and everything was fresh and well prepared. The breakfast is served from 6.30 until 10.30 which meant it fit in with our plans whether we needed to be up early or wanted to sleep in. Also, we didn't encounter some of the problems mentioned regarding the buffet becoming too busy. For £2.50 each, the breakfast was excellent value, although the title 'Super Breakfast Buffet' is perhaps a little generous
Whilst on the subject of food, the Alcron restaurant is genuinely brilliant and I would strongly recommend a visit.

My sole complaint about the hotel would be the prices in the bar. Naturally, I would expect to pay a little extra in a five-star hotel, but in this instance a pint of beer was around 5 times the normal local price. I would definitely advise going to one of the many bars that are within easy walking distance.

To conclude, a great stay in a comfortable, clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommended if the price is right, but there's nothing particularly special to really make it worth paying over the odds.

Stayed Dec 15th 2012 for three nights . We had club room 523 which was really lovely, quite spacious with every amenity and very well decorated. Very warm as it was freezing out side. Bathroom was lovely and clean towels and cleaning every day. Breakfast was fantastic with every choice you could imagine. The staff were great and very helpful, couldn't do enough for us. Reception staff need a special mention they were great. We would totally recommend this hotel well worth the money. WELL DONE TO ALL THE STAFF.

Room Tip: Club rooms are great but standard rooms are exactly the same standard but just slightly smaller.

It's a good hotel, centrally located, rooms are large and all the amenities you can expect from a renown chain. The hotel has a fancy art deco style, Mucha museum is close by and worth a visit. The hotel may lack the personal touch of a smaller hotel but it does not disappoint.

What a great experience. Dinner at the Alcron restaurant was outstanding! Never had anything like that before, very small, only 7 tables, so booking in advance is essential, great food and lovely ambiance.
The staff at the hotel were really helpful and friendly, the room was very nice and quite big. Also great variety of food at breakfast time.

We stayed at this hotel recently for 3 nights and I have to say our stay was very enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable with the usual tea/coffee making facilities etc.The rooms are decorated in an art deco style which is fine. The walls are a little thin as every morning when the laundry service arrived we could hear them chatting outside the room and knocking on the doors of the rooms across the hall and next door. The hotel provides an excellent service and the escort we received to our hotel room by the very professional Alan was much appreciated. The hotel is very centrally located and within mins walking distance to the Old Town Square which is beautifuly decorated this time of year. However the one area I think the hotel could improve upon is that there was no non smoking area in the the bar, for a bar of this size this is certainly achievable. I double checked with the barman to ensure I wasn't mistaken and he confirmed there was no non smoking area which is unfair to those of us who choose not to smoke.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your comments about our hotel with the tripadvisor community.
We are happy you were overall satisfied with your stay. I am very sorry, but for now it is indeed an open area for the entire bar and guests are allowed to smoke there. We are currently deciding on a way to make the non-smokers feel more comfortable there as well. Thank you for expressing your concerns.

We appreciate you feedback and we hope to welcome you back soon.

With kind regards,

The hotel is well located right in the center of Prague. The rooms are nice, although a bit dated.
Good breakfast and excellent gourmet restaurant, worth a try.
Service is ok, could be a bit more friendly.
