“Perfect place to stay in Prague”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

What a lovely and peaceful hotel, right in the heart of town! The location cannot be beat; somehow a totally quiet street but just steps away from all the main routes and sights, on the edge between Old and New Town. The decor is lovely; soothing and modern light tones, yet warm and romantic as well. Lots of nice extra service touches; like a pair of welcome champagne drinks upon arrival, some hors d'oeuvres in the lobby in the afternoon, free bottled water in the room. It was my boyfriend's birthday, and without even asking they gave him a free liqueur as a gift and champagne drinks at breakfast! How kind is that!

The room was spacious, with high ceilings, clean and modern with a great bathroom and comfy beds. My only small quibble is that the room temperature never got very warm, even when we turned up the heat setting, but it wasn't cold or uncomfortable by any means either. The street is so quiet and I never heard my neighbors either; I slept soundly. They even have an American electric shaver outlet in their hair dryer which was a godsend in charging my cell phone.

Breakfast is very nice, with the option of ordering a pancake or omelet in addition to the wide buffet array. Free wi-fi in the rooms and also a computer for sharing in the lobby, and some nice sitting areas in the interesting hotel layout (spread across a former convent).

You can't get much safer with the location (in an already safe city) since you're right next to the police department. This really is a perfect hotel for Prague.

Room Tip: I think all of them are quiet since even the street side has virtually no noise.

We have just arrived back having spent 3 nights at the Unitas in Prague. We chose the hotel based on previous reviews and we were not disappointed. It is so easy to get to by public transport and is situated in a quiet street (opposite a police station) but only 5 minutes walk from the bustling old town square and the same to Wenceslas Square. Also the tram stop was just around the corner from where you could get a tram right up to the castle.
We were greeted with champagne on arrival and all the receptionists on duty while we were there spoke good english and were extremely pleasant and helpful. Indeed we were upgraded to a larger suite which was great. The choice for breakfast each morning, both hot and cold, was plentiful and set you up for the day.
Also included was free wifi throughout the hotel.

Prague is a lovely city and staying in the Unitas made it all the better. Would recommend the Unitas for anyone heading to Prague!

My husband and I stayed here for three nights on our 10 year anniversary vacation to Europe. We couldn't have been happier... The champagne upon our arrival, very courteous front desk receptionists, topped by a surprise upgrade to a larger suite made for a perfect start to our vacation. The breakfast was amazing with so much to choose from and the rooms are quiet due to old thick walls of previous convent. 5-10 minute walk to the main square...we definitely recommend this hotel.

We arrived at the Unitas, once a Convent, well ahead of the published check-in time but nevertheless received a warm welcome along with an explanation that the room was still being prepared. The Receptionist offered to store our luggage whilst we conducted an initial exploration of Prague.
On our return to the hotel we were greeted with an ice-cold glass of champagne and our luggage was retrieved from its safe storage. Check-in was a brief formality and included an introduction to the hotel's facilities and services - all given in excellent English.
The room was large and the en-suite bathroom almost as big. The location of the Unitas, away from the main thoroughfares gave it an incredibly peacefulness but the highlights of the Old Town and it's plentiful and diverse range of bars and restaurants was just short stroll away.
We expected breakfast to be the usual continental fayre but it was anything but! The buffet table 'groaned' under the weight of every conceivable item of morning food, breads, cheeses, meats, cereals, pastries and a range of hot food including some very local specialities. A limited number of a la carte dishes were also available to order. I gave up trying to empty my coffee cup before a member of staff would appear, as if by magic, to offer a refill.
The staff on the Reception desk were always willing to provide information on local attractions, to arrange bookings to special attractions or just call a reliable and timely taxi.
Our only (very minor!) criticism of this hotel is the absence of tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Instead there were 'Tea & Coffee Corners' on each floor. In our case that meant completing almost a full circumnavigation of the hotel!
Prague was well worth the visit and thanks to the great people in the Unitas a very comfortable stay also.

It's hard to imagine wanting to stay anywhere else (unless one want luxury amenities). This 22-room hotel is absolutely charming. The staff is very friendly and speaks English (if, like us, you don't speak Czech). We just spent six nights here and also found them very helpful in setting up taxis and other minor items via e-mail. The establishment is in excellent repair and built within an old convent . . . and a former secret police building and prison. We expected a continental breakfast, but is was unbelievably varied and delicious. There were even Heinz beans and grilled tomatoes for our British friends.

We walked to every quarter and everything we wanted to see in Prague from the Hotel, including the main train station.

We've already recommended this hotel to friends.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room facing the courtyard and it was very quiet. But, the street itself is very tran...

Being a guest in the Hotel Unitas is a magnificent experience in every way. Everyone who works here are friendly and courteous and accomodating. You will be greeted upon check in with a complimentary glass of Bohemian bubbly. Every effort will be made to accomodate special requests throughout your stay.
The hotel is on a quiet street but within walking distance of most of the attractions and the river. The trams are at the corner and transit tickets are sold at the front desk. The complimentary breakfast is not to be missed! As well as a creative and plentiful buffet, you will be offered an a la carte menu. Again for a special brunch, bubbly is included! As well small appetizers will greet you later in the afternoon.
The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and upgraded bathroom facilities, with very comfortable beds. There is TV in different languages as well as a DVD player with movies available.
This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in anywhere, especially for the reasonable price. If you are going to be in Prague make sure this is your home away from home.

I initially had doubts about booking this hotel, as the price was much lower than the other hotels I was considering. Based on trip advisor reviews, I decided to book here and it ended up being a great decision. I had a wonderful three night stay and would not hesitate to return.

The location was perfect for me. It was about five minutes from Old Town Square. It was also very close to the tram 22 stop, which goes to Prague Castle, and the Mustek metro stop for lines A and B. There were many excellent, well priced restaurants nearby. I think the location was very convenient being there as a tourist, but I was also able to avoid the noise and crowds that come with staying right in the center of Old Town.

The hotel was very comfortable and service was very good. The room was large by European standards. Despite staying there for four days with my husband, we never felt crowded. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The surrounding area was quiet at night. Housekeeping was very good. Staff at the front desk were very polite and helpful. They provided many "extras", such as a complimentary ipad/tablet to borrow, afternoon snacks in the lobby, DVDs/books to borrow and complimentary coffee/tea on each floor throughout the day. Wifi was excellent- free, fast, reliable and without any password. Breakfast was very good and included a la carte hot options and a large buffet.

The only thing that could be improved is service at breakfast. It was difficult to get anyone's attention to place an order, but I think this was related to how busy they were and not a lack of interest. This is a small point and could be avoided by ordering as soon as you are seated.

Overall, this hotel provided excellent value, especially as the rate included free wifi and breakfast. I was very satisfied with the location and comfort.
