“Prague Oasis!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

U Raka was a perfect respite, tucked away from the crowds. Our room was lovely (where else can you have your own well) , and the evenings shared with the night manager and other guests chatting over warm cake and wine were a highlight!

This small hotel, 6 units, very much exceeded our expectations. Prague can get crowded with tourists and this location is on the fringe and very quiet. Still walking distance to the Charles Bridge but even closer to Prague Castle. We arranged a walking tour of the city which started at the hotel and it was excellent. Our room was terrific and all the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: I think all rooms would have good sound quality.

If you want to stay in Prague, and not be in the busy touristy center, enjoy a quiet location with the right amount of attention, beautiful interiors and outdoor spaces - then this is the place! Our first time to Prague and we could not have picked a better place. It is an easy walk to the castle and monastery and you can opt to walk to the Charles Bridge and old town and then hop on Tram 22 for the uphill ride home dropping you off a very short walk from the hotel. The breakfast is great and the staff welcoming and helpful. The rooms are gorgeous - we switched to the largest room when it became available - it was "first class" with multiple sitting areas, a fireplace and a sunroom you have to see to believe. We want to go back in the winter, simply to be able to use the fireplace in tht gorgeous room! Thank you to Mr. Paul and his team - you made our visit truly memorable!

We spent four nights at Romantik Hotel U Raka in August. We were amazed upon arrival at the uniqueness of this six room family run cottage hotel. Alexander Paul, the owner, was the architect and builder of the hotel from the rocks up and every detail showed his creativity, quality orientation and attention to detail. Everything melded together in artistic harmony.

The hotel was spotless and the breakfast was wonderful in the cozy dining room with a very attentive staff. We had our own sun room and private patio. The location was excellent and a short walk to the castle or up steps to the #22 tram for a short four stop ride to the river area. There were excellent restaurants within walking distance and scenic views of the city over red tiled roofs.

Our stay at Romantik Hotel U Raka was the most memorable part of our trip to Prague. A unique experience and highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room #6 and it lived up to all the accolades of previous guests' comments. We did...

We have stayed here many times. this is our place in Prague. It is a small country house situated in a very quiet section of town right by the castle and a park. There is not another place like it in Prague. The breakfast and café are terrific. We had some friends come over for coffee. The staff set it up with truly home made apple strudel in the little private outdoor garden space. Note that the hotel is air conditioned, which made a big difference in the August 95+ temperatures.

I choose to stay here as a romantic celebration of my wife's birthday in June and was not disappointed. It is a wonderful little gem tucked away in a quiet side street, yet it is still walkable to many of Prague's best sites and restaurants. The service is attentive, the nibbles at their cafe delightful and the overall vibe is warmly Old Czech without feeling gimmicky or threadbare. My wife and I have stayed in small boutique hotels all over the world and this stay was among our favorites. My only note is that if you are driving or directing a taxi, allow a couple of extra minutes to find it...
