“Great location, great breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

We stayed there for 5 nights total and had such a great experience overall. The staff was very friendly and since we were visiting from the USA, we were very happy to get great recommendations of nearby restaurants and directions to our destinations. The complimentary breakfast was amazing and had a large variety of food to choose from including daily specials that were free. It was a great way to start the day to enjoy the beautiful city of Praha!

We stayed at Maximilian this past Christmas season. It was our second visit to Prague and our second visit to this hotel. It continues to be a friendly, modern and enjoyable hotel. The rooms are large and well maintained (tho there is a decidely siginficant lack of english-speaking TV channels, we only care about that late at night after returning from enjoying the city's jazz bars and entertainment). The breakfast room is bright and the buffet always well stocked with a wide selection of food. And the Old Town Square is a 2 minute walk, along with many good restaurants. Why stay anywhere else in Prague?

Location: quiet relaxing location just a few short streets away from the main square. Within walking distance of everywhere, yet feels like a secret hideaway. Convenient yet authentic.
Staff: helpful and friendly. Their aim was only to please and made our stay feel friendly, welcome and homely. They made it feel like a home from home. They had even turned the room down and put a key card in to heat and make it feel welcoming. We didn't even have to introduce ourselves; on arrival the receptionist simply said: "good evening, you must be .... "- impressive.
Facilities: leave fido at home and get your very own 'bob' the goldfish (see website for the story) the room was reasonably sized and had a Bose sound system and iPod charging station, we forgot a power adapter and this was very helpful. Even more helpful was finding a universal power adapter in the cupboard later that night! Well stocked and reasonably priced mini bar and nespresso machine was also in the room. There was even a complimentary umbrella for loan.
Bed: very comfortable and the pillows were huge, fluffy and warm.
Other: an honesty bar, lift, breakfast that was absolutely incredible with enough variety to satisfy every nationality (twice)

My partner and I stay in hundreds of hotels on business each year and although I speak for myself I can honestly say this was truly first class. This was my Christmas present and nothing let it down. Should I visit Prague again I wouldn't look anywhere else.

Thank you sincerely to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

This review is in conjunction with the review under Hotel Josef Prague- stay at Josef not Maximillian! While Maximilian is a sister property there are no similarities so do not be fooled.

I was shifted to Max due to Josef being oversold-I promptly went back the next day.

Cons:
There is no gym/workout facility.
Dank rooms
Carpets are stained
Bathrooms need updating - old style
Just a bit old school and dirty

Pros:
Close to all attractions
Nice lobby
Nice chill area / honesty bar
Free wifi in room / lobby
Nice staff
Amazing massage services by Planet Zen Asian wellness (attached to the Max)

Overall: stay at the Josef or Barcelo Premium property!

Very nice hotel located within a walking distance to main atractions, but quiet so you can have a rest.
Very nice, helpful and friendly staff. Reception staff is very professional and providing quality services beyond their duties. Breakfast was very good, every day something diferrent and tasty. Standard room was spacious and clean.

Stayed 3 nights this January. Reserved room 406 which is a suite. Well worth it. room was quiet, clean and spacious. Bathroom is a bit "funky" but wasnt an issue. Breakfast everyday was very good and included. Front desk is OUTSTANDING!!!! Location is 5 minute walk from the heart of old town, but close to less touristy stuff as well. Taxis when called from the front desk took no more than 2 minutes to come. word of advice as others have mentioned is never ever ever ever take a cab off the street.

I found this hotel on tripadvisor and thank others for their reviews.

I highly reccomend staying here.

Room Tip: I booked room 406 based on the website description and photos. It is well worth the added rate.

We stayed for 4 days over Christmas. Great location, just 10mins walk to old town square, 20mins to Charles Bridge and 5mins to the Spanish Synagogue. The room was cleaned & comfortable, equipped with an espresso coffee machine, dvd player, tv and minibar. Buffet breakast was a treat. Friendly and helpful staff.
Special thanks to Andrea for her efficiency, she help organized our opera tickets.
We booked the hotel limousine transfers for our arrival and departure. Went extremely well and the drivers are very courteous.
We highly recommend the Maximilian Hotel.
