Hotel Aida, Prague:
A Review:
My wife and I stayed at the recently refurbished Aida Hotel, Prague, in June 2008.
The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the room servicing was excellent.
Breakfast was a joy: Three varieties of cooked that changed daily, and copious amounts of cold meats and cheeses, not to mention the many different cereals, fruits, yoghurts and salad, yes; salad, on offer each day.
The Hotel itself was very clean and to quite a high standard for the area, the only downturn is that there is no lift in the hotel, so for the elderly and for families with young children this will be a problem.
But this is very easily remedied, simply call either Eva Skladanova at Registration (00 420 251 09 11 11) or Milan Smitka on the Hotel's Reception Desk (00 420 284 68 0628) a few days before you go, and they'll put you in to a Ground or First floor room. we did, and they did.
Lastly, at a 3-minute walk from the hotel, and right by the Tram Stop is the Troja Restaurant. Don't bother with going downtown to eat, the food here is about the best you will get, and their Manager, Jiri Hajek speaks perfect English (he worked for three years in Manchester and London) -and the surroundings are great too. Weekends get crowded, so reserve, 00420 824 000 666.
Would we go back? To the Hotel Aida, and the Troja, YES! But to Prague, we'd have to think about that, as Prague is not cheap, and it's ALL cobbles (we really did hurt our feet walking). But the Tram system is brilliant! Stuff those guided tours, use the trams and see all of Prague amongst friendly, helpful people, we did, and we’ve come away with wonderful memories..
