“Republic Square - Not much here other than the Municipal House and Powder Tower”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Republic Square, known locally as Náměstí Republiky is sort of an interface between the Old Town and New Town where you can find a decent sized shopping mall called The Palladium, a nice supermarket, the Municipal House as well as the historic Powder Tower.

We visited Republic Square a couple times during our recent stay in Prague, attending a concert at the Municipal House, which is quite attractive, particularly for those who like Art-Nouveau style architecture and picking up some food at a fairly large supermarket located on the square. The Powder Tower, offers visitors a chance to see the Old Town from its elevated vantage point, 65 meters off the ground, for those interested to climb the tower steps. Otherwise, we find few reasons to visit this area of the city, particularly if you are on a short holiday.

Overall, not really enough to see and do at Namesti Republiky to include it in your list of things to do/see in Prague, unless you are a particular fan of Art-Nouveau, in which case a trip to the Municipal House is well worth your time. Higher priority squares in Prague would include the Wenceslas Square and the 'must-see' Old Town square and its high concentration of very good attractions.

“Palladium mall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

This is where you will find the modern mall of Prague. It's a great way to get away from the tourists and just relax. There are free bathrooms and a nice grocery store to stock up on your water and snacks. The shops were fairly similar to an American mall and so was the food court. We hung out at Starbucks everyday after a long day of walking to enjoy free WiFi and people-watch.

“I don't know that I would call this an attraction, but it's an interesting intersection.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

This square was close to my hotel (Prague Marriott). It's an interesting intersection of trollies, car and bus traffic and foot traffic. It was also where I found a bank with an indoor ATM (CSOB), the subway and Palladium Shopping Mall.
