“Excellent Hotel, fabulous location but costly for everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2010

This is a lovely Marriott and in a really good locality, in fact I believe this was perfect as it is just off Namesti Republiki (Republic Square) so only 5 mins walk to the main square (Staromeste Namesti) and 2 mins walk to the nearest Metro station if you want to go further afield.

The good points ... it's smart, clean and up to date with great big comfortable beds and all the usual amenities (hairdryers, TV, IDD phones, business centre, restaurants, bar and fitness centre.

The bad points ..... well there is only one ..... "everything is a total rip-off", £18 for breakfast, £30 to use the internet for a day, £8 for a glass of wine, £20-30 for a main course in the restaurant. The fitness centre is full to bursting at 4pm onwards and the changing rooms are small; the pool is cold and the jacuzzi was tired.
Parking... we hired a car and they have the cheek to charge more for the parking over the seven days than the actual cost to hire the car! £25 per day. Not much of a concession... 5 days upfront saved me £8. The last day I actually found on street parking through a meter much cheaper although this would have proved a nightmare for more than one day.

My advice would be to take the room and breakfast if included but eat, drink and buy everything else outside. There is corso cafe on the corner as you head left out of the hotel, literally thirty seconds walk. The food is excellent catering well for breakfast. The Nebe cocktail bar was a real find for some nice drinks, good atmosphere and drinks anytime between 1400 and 0430; this again heading left from the hotel and some ten seconds walk away. The real bonus in finding these establishments ..... free WIFI !!!! Couldn't actually believe the hotel would not give some concession on a weeks connection but instead lost loads of business from me. The new Palladium shopping centre has just opened 150m away on Namaste Republiky and that has 200 stores including a dozen eatteries so try eating there instead.

Snacks and drinks can be bought at Billa, the super market just next door, again left as you leave the hotel.

All in all it was a brilliant stay due to the locality and the fact that because they charged the earth it made us go and explore and discover Prague. SO thank you Marriott. I will definitely stay again but will ensure I now visit my new found cafes and bars which give me those little extras for free without me having already paid through the nose for accommodation.

Overall; it is a lovely hotel with very expensive extras so go and explore!!!

Stayed 2 nights on a recent trip. Got the rooms at a great rate through priceline. The rooms were a good size, clean and the staff were friendly. The breakfast was expensive, but service was good and the food was good also. Just like most of the European hotels that we stayed at this trip, internet connection is not free. The location is close to everything. About a 10 - 15 minute walk to Charles Bridge and half of that to town square. Would stay there again for the right price. There's also secure underground parking if needed.

Warm and friendly staff in reception. Check in and out was swift.

Room was only a standard but was HUGE and so so comfortable. After we had settled and freshened up my husband went down to reception to pick up my birthday surprise...2 tickets to the opera at the The Prague State Opera House!!! He had booked them on-line and they had them delivered to our hotel...fantastic! (see photos).

Breakfast is much better having it as room service than going down to the restaurant. You get everything you could want for one flat price per person, and it may not be cheap but it's worth it! It all comes on a trolley table which you can then take your time to enjoy before you get dressed to go out.

The bar area in the lobby is very comfortable, and although you don't always get table service because it can get busy, and there may only be one or two bar persons, the bar is only two feet away from the seats and they'll gladly put all charges on your room rather than you having to pay for each drink. The cocktails are fabulous and prepared properly! And plenty of chilled absinthe to sup.

Loved every minute of our stay in the Marriott and we fell in love with Prague. Definitely will be going back!

When checking in I was told that I had been given a complimentary upgrade to the conceieirge floor. Lovely. What they did not tell me was that this was not an upgrade at all. It was simply moving me to a different floor of the hotel because the hotel was fully booked. The conceirge level upgrade did not come with access to the lounge or breakfast or even any different ammenities in the room. It was simply putting me on the 6th floor instead of the 5th. So this was an upgrade in word alone - not in service level at all. In fact it was misrepresentation as it was not an upgrade.

When I asked how much it would cost to access the lounge (by the way the 6th floor lounge has no drinks or food it is just a set of chairs) I was told I would need to pay a 60% premium to the room rate.

So this is not a hotel I would recommend based on the service level experienced. I am sure others have experienced better service and then this could be a great place to stay. But my experience was poor.

We stayed there for 5 nights and everything was great. The concierge staff and the front desk staff were very helpful when we needed help about sights to visit in Pague. The only thing I regret is that I didn't use the spa and the pool.

The hotel is well located in the centre. you can reach there by metro or tram. The service is helpful. However, the the pipe in the bathroom was leaking! and nobody come to repair it in my 4 consecutive staying day! I won't come back to this hotel next time, there are a lot of nice hotel in Prague.

We just returned from Christmas and New Year's in Prague...wow, what a wonderful place!! We travel each year at this time to experience another country during the holidays. We can say that this year's trip to Prague ranks as one of the very best.
We used points this time, and often with them, you can be placed in a substandard room, not here. We received all the amenities, and best of all, the staff was superb, especially Petra, a membr of the concierge staff. Petra worked with us even before we arrived helping us select concerts, theater shows and restaurants.
There are many good places to stay in Prague, but I think anyone would be VERY pleased with the quality of the hotel, its local flavor and exceptional service!
