“Close to the best service ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Location of hotel extremely central being close to all major sites. The room was very spacious and the breakfast served was five star. All the staff were knowledgable and helpful in every query we had.

We will definitely recommend to our family and friends visiting Prague.

Keep it up.
Manuel and Vinnie

Casa Marcello is ingeniously converted from part of the old convent, which means thick walls and a higgledy-piggledy layout. I would imagine that no two rooms are the same. Ours was tucked away up a spiral staircase, very large, comfortable and quiet. I thought the bed was really comfy, although others might find the mattress a bit too firm.

One consequence of this rambling hotel is that there are lots of little flights of stairs linking different areas and there are no lifts. For us that added to the charm of the place, but if you have mobility problems then it would be a real disadvantage. When we arrived the receptionist (warm, friendly, perfect English) showed us to the room to ensure we found it - such a lovely alternative to boxy, faceless hotels.

We didn't use the restaurant in the evening (too many other fab alternatives in the city) but the breakfast was very good.

The location was excellent, in a quiet area that felt very safe. Within 10 minutes' walk of the old town square and within 5 minutes' walk of a pub serving 30 different local draught beers! We asked the hotel to pre-book us a taxi from the airport and were met in arrivals by a polite, uniformed, English-speaking driver with a very comfortable clean towncar - I would recommend it.

There is a wine-themed spa within the hotel, if we'd been there another night we might well have treated ourselves to a dip in the hot tub with wine extracts!

Terrific location. Ten minute walk to Old Town square and twenty minute walk from main train station but the hotel is situated in an alcove area of old town that is very quiet. Slept with windows open and no noise. The way they adapted the rooms to an existing 700 year old structure is impressive and the rooms are large by Europe standards and with comfortable beds. Good breakfast, staff is friendly and efficient. We stayed three nights in September. I don't think the rooms are air conditioned but didn't need it. Visit was all good.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms looking over the ruins next to the church. Quite impressive view.

We found this hotel through Trip Advisor and weren't disappointed. It is ideally located on the edge of the Jewish Quarter only 5 minutes walk from the Old Town Square but tucked away in a quiet side street with no traffic. There is a good choice of restaurants in the surrounding streets.
Although the building is old, the rooms are comfortably furnished and equipped with modern bathrooms. The staff were all very helpful and generally spoke good English. The breakfasts were excellent and offered something for every taste although seating was limited and could fill up at busy times.
We had dinner in the courtyard one evening and I was pleasantly surprised by the above average quality of the food offered.
We arrived by car and the reception directed us to the car park beneath the Palladium shopping centre which cost CzK1800 for 3 days. There is masses of space there and it seemed quite secure but it is 5 minutes walk from the hotel and not easy to drive back from the car park to the hotel to collect luggage. If they have space, the car park beneath the Hotel Maximilian, which is 50 yards from Casa Marcello is much more convenient and only charges CzK600 per night.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Casa Marcello as a comfortable, good value base from which to explore Prague

Room Tip: Rooms at the back or overlooking the courtyard would probably be quietest but we had a room over the...

We stayed at this hotel which was at one time a convent. Our rooms were on the 3rd floor. We actually had 2 bathrooms, a bedroom, and a sitting area...unbelievable! It was magical as there were lots of corridors, stairs, with rooms in different parts of the building. The location is convenient, but quiet with cobblestone streets and sidewalks. One of our windows overlooked an ancient church. The breakfast was extensive and lovely. You could choose from some warm foods as well as the traditonal cold ones. The selection of bread was large. The staff was superb and helpful. One of the staff picked us up from the airport which was so helpful. There is a restaurant that serves lunch as well as dinner. This is just a wonderful place in a special city.

Room Tip: If you have problem with stairs you might want to ask for a room on a lower level since there is no...

A friendly hotel in a truly magical area of Prague, full of narrow cobbled streets and flaking palaces. After 24 years living in and visiting the city, I can truly say this is one of the best. We've stayed at Casa Marcello with the kids for two years running and it's proved welcoming and good value. The breakfast is generous and well presented. The city's prime sites are close at hand and there are numerous good restaurants nearby. Parking's a bit of a problem but the neighbouring hotel helps out and if not there are other options. We will return

Room Tip: Rooms above the alley are occasionally noisy at night

My wife has been wanting to visit Prague for about as long as I can remember, so I was looking for a hotel that was both a bit special and not hugely expensive. Casa Marcello did not disappoint. It's location in the old town (only 5-10 mins walk from the old town square) is great. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. Beautiful central courtyard. The rooms were large: ours had two bathrooms, we also had a separate space for our toddler. One quibble: some of the staff were more friendly than others.
