“Nice hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

This is a unusual hostel - it is spacious inside with comfortable beds and new facilities. Great location - it is very very close to the old town square. It was reasonably clean, and has good bedside lockers. The only downside was some noisy people at night and that is not really their fault...overall this hostel is worth staying at.

Incredible location and very good facilities. I stayed in the new part which was really new, comfortable and clean. It was great that each bed had a big safebox to put your stuff. I really liked that they give you a key and you're free to come and go as if at home. The kitchen is very new, clean, big and well-equipped. There are plenty of electricity outlets both in the rooms and the common areas. I would have liked better lighting. It was hard to find enough light to read at night

Room Tip: There are a 4-people mixed room and a 6-people mixed room in the new part, where I stayed and really...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

I stayed here for 2 nights in October 2013. It is a number of years since I have stayed in hostels and therefore I am not really used to backpacking these days. I was looking forward to it and needed some cheap accomodation that was well located. It is located in the Old Town about 3 minutes from the Astronomical Clock and Old Square and about 10 mins from Charles Bridge, perfect for seeing the sights. In terms of the Metro, it is located a few minutes from Mustek (so long as you get off at the right exit, otherwise you will be further up at Wenscelas Square. It is a little difficult to find but you have to walk through the doorway of the Restaurant Pulcinella and it is there. Perhaps print off a small map before you arrive or work out the directions a little better than I did.

On arrival, you press the buzzer and go up. The guy on reception was really helpful. You receive a fresh towel, clean bedding, a wifi password, code for the outside door, key for the door to the building, key for a locker. You leave a small deposit for the keys. I was shown to my dorm room by the receptionist. The dorm has a locked door for which you have a key. The building itself is spacious, high ceilings, modern. Each bed in the dorm has its own duvet, pillow and cupboard with a lock attached to secure your belongings. The shared bathroom and kitchen was almost like an apartment it was very modern and clean.

I felt very secure in the building due to all the keys, codes etc and had the freedom to come and go as I pleased despite them locking the external door after midnight. There were numerous locks to doors (for which you have the keys) making you feel as though your belongings, your sleeping environment is safe.

I slept in a mixed dorm of 6 which was large and spacious. The dorm was mixed gender. Everyone was respectful in terms of noise, turning off the lights, space. I thought perhaps it was going to be full of people who wanted to party non stop but it was just full of normal people looking to experience Prague on a budget...which is what I wanted. The shared kitchen area was quite loud one of the nights but this may have been a one off.

The internet is great and works all over the building. There are fridges, stoves and dishwasher in the shared kitchen area. Check out is 10.30am. They offer you the chance to leave your belongings after check out. Great hostel, great location, great price.

Beware the Prague Ham scam which I saw a few people in the area fall foul off. Basically, some of the stalls are just designed to rip you off massively. They are small wooden huts that sell mainly potatoe with cabbage and ham and then a rotating ham that they carve the meat off. You assume that this will be quite a cheap meal. The prices quoted on the menu - seem reasonable! However, they are the price PER 100 grams. If you ask for a portion of prague ham and potatoes. They will give you a bowl of potatoes and a paper plate of prague ham and weigh them. Then they will ask you for minimum 800 CZK. They rely on the confusion of tourists who are unfamiliar with the currency. I watched several people look very confused. Essentially people are paying 30 euros plus for street food and handing it over. Online there are reports of people paying 60 euros plus. They rely on the confusion in the moment and it is only later you realise you have paid an astornomical fee for food on a plastic/paper plate. It is a scam for tourists designed to rip you off!

One of my favourite hostels! We got one of the newer areas to the hostel which had brand new toilets and kitchen... very modern and clean - one of the most luxurious parts of our trip! Everyone staying was very friendly and the dorm rooms very spacious. Had some really good nights out here and also some great trips around the city. Definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights in a double room with shared bathroom.
Our room was spacious with nice decor but felt a little empty and incomplete. It backed onto our floors communal living room which meant walking through to leave your room, get to the bathroom etc. There was one luxury shower room between everyone staying on the third floor, and therefore often occupied. There is a well equipped kitchen area for self caterers.
Our room was separate from the reception building which was inconvenient at times but meant our floor level had its own space and had an apartment feel to it.
Location of the hostel is just perfect, with all attractions very close and lots of cafes/restaurants lining the surrounding streets.
Overall a comfortable stay and good value for money in a perfect spot to enjoy downtown Prague.

Staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious but cosy and we even had a whole kitchen in the female 4 bed dorm! The location was perfect, in the old town but as it was set back from the main street it was quiet. I would definitely stay here again.
