“Lovely apartments in historic building with great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

At the Black Star was perfect for us! This lovely spacious apartment is an easy walk to the Charles Bridge, the Jewish quarter, the Old Town Square. We stayed there in mid-June and Charles Street was very busy, noisy and fun but Seminarska St was relatively quiet. We were in apartment 101 which is 1 flight up facing the street. The room was just as you see in the photo. Very clean and comfortable. The double windows did a great job of keeping the apartment quiet at night.. We used the fan in the bedroom rather than opening the windows if it felt warm. On very hot days that might be a problem. We enjoyed cooking some of our meals there and the kitchen suited our needs. The Wifi worked well.
We arrived quite late. It was easy to arrange their taxi service to pick us up. The driver had our key and helped carry our luggage up to the room. Romana was extremely helpful with whatever we needed. Thank you Romana! We hope to return sometime with our children and would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed in Room 101 for two nights. Firstly the apartments are ideally situated being very close to the Old town square, shops, restaurants and a few minutes walk to Charles Bridge. The rooms were exceptionally clean, very well equipped, with tv, microwave, kettle, full cooker and oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer, and good fast free wi-fi. The security is excellent as you need to go through 4-5 doors to get to your room so there is no need to use the safe in your room!
Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Didn't try the restaurant downstairs but it looked nice. We would have no hesitations in booking this place again.

Room Tip: Book a superior room.

Please don't waste your time
Or money here. Apart from the fact the food is mediocre they added things to our bill ten told us it was for water. They charged extra for veg which was on the menu with the dish. A group complained whilst we were there and were told they could speak to the owner.... Such wonderful customer service. We had some great food and service and Prague but it definitely wasn't in here!!!

We loved Everything !!! We were in room 101 , which is facing the front of the building & had no trouble with noise from streets once the double paned windows were shut. The Hotel staff are GEMS ! Romana & the young man at the front desk were always happy to help . The Cleaning lady met us with a smile daily (Yes the apartments have daily cleaning)
People had problems with the Wine Bar downstairs but we loved it & usually started or ended our evenings with a glass of wine there. Some people also complained about having to open 4 doors to get to the rooms , again this only made us feel More Secure rather than an inconvenience

We were delighted with our little home for the week. A neat little apartment tucked away just off a Main Street and very close to Charles Bridge and Old Town Square (yet very quiet). We had everything we needed in our 2 twin-bed suite - somehow it succeeds in being very modern and heritage at the same time. Nice and clean, lovely staff - my only recommendation would be to think about getting better mattresses for the beds - my companion and I were feeling a bit stiff after a few nights' sleep here. Overall, though - a resounding recommendation! And breakfast next door at the hotel was a great deal and an easy start to the day.

This hotel is ideal if you like old houses and the charm they have! The house is bright with skylights and well equipped kitchen with all the utensils make it very comfortable! It is situated in an ideal location very close to Charles bridge and the staff are very helpful. They give a good conversion rate for currency exchange. the only problem was that the corridor lights were not working in the night and I hope they will fix that. Otherwise, excellent choice if you want to feel right at home in Prague!

Word of advise: Travel light, because this old house does not have a lift, you will have to carry the luggage upstairs yourself.

Also, try out the absolutely delicious "trdelnik" pastry made next door. A Czhech delight made fresh in front of your eyes!

Room Tip: try the top floor!
