“A time warp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

I felt like I was in a time warp, back to a rural tavern in the mountains. Long wooden tables, candle-lit, we ordered a big meat and cheese platter and some garlic soup in bread bowls. I think we paid two dollars for a pint of beer. My wife and i were stuffed and paid 25 dollars for everything, including multiple beers. It's a little far, but worth it.

“A special authentic meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

This is an amazing restaurant. It’s a bit far out of the city centre but well worth it. Seven of us got a taxi out there and had a fabulous meal. It’s all lit by candle light and has lovely solid oak tables and big fireplaces. The food is delicious and rustic. The white wine was also very good. It was also great value for money. We all had a main and dessert and it came to around £100 for seven of us. If you’re looking for a special authentic meal in Prague make your way there.

“Candlelight dinner... but not the kind you are thinking of”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

To repeat the point of other reviewers, it was a bit hard to find, but worth it. The atmosphere is probably the best and most unique aspect of this restaurant. You might walk past the restaurant and wonder if it is open, but that is because the whole place is lit by candlelight. We found the place very relaxing after a long day of sightseeing.

We would say it is family-friendly, but for older children who would better appreciate the novelty of eating a rustic candlelit dinner.

The food was good and the prices were decent. We ordered stews but their specialty seems to be grilled meats.

Our server was very friendly and attentive (something we are not used to in Germany!). All-in-all the place is worth a visit.

“Fantastic native food, one of the best I ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012 via mobile

A bit hard to find (10 min. walk from metro). A bit dark - but maybe it has to be to feel native. Fantastic food - I took steak, potatoes, meat soup, beer. Came with pork cream & bread. Quick service. My best meal in Prague. Great value for the price. Highly recommend.

“Worth the effort to find it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

This place is a bit out of the way; we ended up just taking a taxi. The ambience is very nice, with rough tables and benches, an open fireplace and candle light, it has a medieval feel to it. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. He introduced us to a Czech liqueur called Becherovka. Food was fantastic! Tried the bread with pork drippings mixed with butter (sounds odd, but is delicious!), washed down with a large mug of good beer. Had the appy tray of cheese, bread, sausage, ham, pickles and onions - incredibly good Czech food. For a main we had the marinated pork ribs (called pork chops on the menu - a mistranslation), and they were delicious. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the portions are huge. Two of us split the appy tray and the ribs, and it was more than enough. My daughter had the trout – also excellent.
