“Hotel Accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were helpful and polite. The room and shower was clean and the beds comfortable. Towels were also provided. The continental breakfast ample and plenty of it .
The TV was limited to a few channels but the main screen downstairs in the lounge/bar area was available.
Although not in a main part of Prague, it was nice to be a small distance away. (Around 10 minutes by tram) Still ideal for sightseeing.
The tram stop is just outside or depending on your destination, Another junction is in the small town round the corner opposite hotel.
It's easy to hop on and off the trams for the city sites and the hotel staff are always willing to point you in the right direction if you're unsure. (Get an all day or 3 day ticket and you're set for sightseeing. Can also be used on the Metro, bus and funculiar transport)
Most people in Prague speak English and I found it very easy to ask.
If however, you check some site maps for the destination of the hotel, be aware this is wrong. We were originally sent to Praga 2 area when the hotel is in fact Praga 4. (Stop Otakarova on the tram line map.)
I had a great time staying here and enjoyed seeing Prague. I would be happy to use this three star hotel again for a break away when I next visit.

Room Tip: Not sure here, We stayed on the top floor. Although a little humid, Air conditioning was available i...

The hotel is in an impressive looking building. The staff were very friendly and helpful with advice on local amenities and the trams. It is a cheap and cheerful hotel, 2 star, which was just what we wanted for 2 Adults and 2 young children for 2 nights. We shared the same room which faced the main street, it was quite warm in the room since it got the sun all day. We needed the windows open at night which allowed some of the street noise in. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room facing the rear of the hotel. The room was basic but clean, 4m by 5m including the bathroom area. Simple shower, loo, and sink. Some soap provided and small towels only. It seems that shampoo and other toiletries are only provided by 4/5 star accm. Breakfast was downstairs in the cellar. It was simple and mainly local cold meats, cheese, fruit, tea and coffee. There is a lift in the building but I don't recall it going down to the cellar.
There was a small TV in the room although reception was not too good. Mostly Czech and German channels but Sky and BBC news in English. We did not go to Prague to watch TV so it was not a problem for us.
Staff were very helpful and you can buy wine, beer, water from the fridge in reception at reasonable prices. Even better there is a Tabac across the road which sells cans, bottled drinks, fruit etc and is even cheaper but the owner does not speak any English.
Trams stop outside and take you straight to the centre in 10 to 20 mins. We were out most of the day and were not disturbed by the trams or traffic.
Some nice local resturants around the corner from the Hotel. Ask reception and they can give you introductory discount tickets.
You can ignore the 'Erotic City' building nearby! Did not see anyone go in or near it.
Staff were happy to book taxis and negotiate prices for us.
A cheap and cheerful 2 star hotel. Incidentally we paid less for B&B in this Prague hotel than for equivalent B&B hotels 200 Km away up country.

Well I booked this on the reviews on trip advisor and I'm afraid it wasn't fr me nor my wife. To be fair however it was clean and friendly but as a good hotel fr a 5 night stay then it's on the poor side. I was so looking forward to this hotel as. Had some great reviews and on the whole it sounded good for the price however here's the bits that annoyed me. The room as soon as we opened the door was a simple look at each other in disbelief then once we had a look around the toilet was a huge turn off! Nope nothing dirty just far too basic and small and frankly not good enough for modern living. The rooms need a premier inn/travelogue owner to sort them out. As for the breakfast! I have been in many budget hotels in Europe and can't wait to earthy bread cheeses and hams and of course the tomatoes etc etc but here!!!!!!!!! half stale bread and the most miserable of everything else yes there was cheese and there was ham and salami but that was it. One day hot wee sausages never to return, orange juice that must've been the cheapest in Czech republic. Even Lidl and Aldiss juices re a lot better. Never tried the coffee as I am pretty sure it wouldn't have been much better and instead we headed off into Prague for a McCafe at McDonalds.

Yes the place looked nice outside and yes the receptionists were really nice and helpful but that's it full stop. If premier inn took it over it would be renovated and would be very very good. Not thA I like premier inn style but it needs sorting.

The beds were very comfortable but I didnt feel comfortable somehow, the pillows? The bed underneath the sheet? Who knows I didn't look.

Quite a bit f street noise sue to teams and the occasional emergency vehicle but not too much.

Location was ok easy to get into Prague and good food around bout. We liked the Japanese/Chinese on the nearest corner and we went further up the same road to the one before the place recommended by the hotel. Old was food and cheap especially liked the green beans although the place was smokie we bet back a second time.

Otherwise loved everything enjoy your hol in Prague

Even though the hotel is not in the city center, the tramway is just two steps away from the front of the hotel, literally! The room was clean, the bathroom too, and the breakfast had a good choice of bread, ham, chesse, jam and fruit. The staff was friendly and the best thing was the weather indicated every day in the front desk !

We had a good stay at Hotel Otakar! It was very easy to find it as the tram stop is right in front of it. It really is 10min away from city centre (by tram) as stated in the description. Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was very nice and tidy. Free WiFi was pretty good too. Breakfast buffet was OK, didn't have many things for vegetarians though, but it was good enough :)
The only thing I would mention is that nobody told us that we wouldn't have a door on our bathroom in our room... yeah... that was kind of a surprise, but me and my friend managed somehow, at least there was a shower curtain on the shower :) I'm sure we would've gotten a different room if we asked, but we didn't care much for it. All in all a good value for money and will probably stay with them again ^^

Room Tip: ask for the one with a bathroom door :D

We chose this hotel due to lower price but we had a pleasant surprise.
The staff was nice, helped us with guidance about the city. Even in front of the hotel is a tram that goes to the center.
Breakfast was varied, there are possibilities of choice.
The only problem is at night when traveled street noise is quite disturbing.

As Hotel Otakar was quite cheap, I didn't have high expectations, however I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel looks beautiful from outside and is equally charming inside. Upon arrival the receptionist was extremely helpful, instantly providing us with a free city map, travel help and where we could find certain attractions in very good English. The room itself was clean and pleasant. There was a bit of noise at night from the nearby train tracks, but not so loud it kept us awake. The breakfast was basic continental - meats, cheeses, breads and cereals, but perfectly fine. If you are British and want a good cup of English Breakfast tea in the morning, you might want to bring along some tea bags as they only had green tea! Although the hotel is not entirely central, it is just a 10 minute ride away on tram 24, the stop for which is literally right outside the hotel. The area around the hotel itself is quite nice, with a fair few little shops and bakeries. Overall, a very good stay. I would choose this hotel again.
