Can a relatively pricey place like Alchymist Prague Castle Suites be a good value. Absolutely. Although this certainly costs more than many other hotels in Prague, the people at this hotel make you visit much more enjoyable. The hotel as a very small staff, but this allows you connect with each one to enrich your Prague experience.
The Reception staff all worked so hard to help us have a great experience both in and out of the hotel. They arranged tours, purchased concert tickets and always had restaurant recommendations that we appreciated.
Our two butlers, Eddie and Alex, worked on rotating shifts and were excellent at making our stay very comfortable. They quickly learned our preferences and were always unobtrusively looking for ways to help.
The housekeeper was excellent and made our room a welcome place to return after a day out in the city.
The hotel is in a VERY safe area. The Czech parliament occupies much of the adjacent buildings so security is very tight. We always passed 2-4 police officers on the short two blocks between the main square and our hotel. There are security cameras everywhere on the streets in this area. You are a five minute walk from the Little Town end of the St Charles Bridge. While your are geographically very close to the castle, it is way above you so you must make a pleasant (in winter) walk up the hill to get to the gate that leads inside. And it is SOOOO quiet. It's really amazing how close you can be the action but still have virtually no noise when you go back to your hotel.
The heated bathroom floors made our winter vacation much more pleasant. Also, don't forget to use the private sauna/spa in the basement. It's a beautiful, peaceful place for a couple to relax.
