“Facinating place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

I really was not prepared for the size of this exhibition ,it is huge .The upstairs part has 3 large displays but when you go downstairs it really does take your breath away . Loved it all . It is now 90-95% complete so well worth seeing .I also enjoyed all the displays of model trains ,cars and motorbikes as well as the other toys and I just loved the chance to sit in the Drivers seat of a real train, real good fun.
It is not the cheapest exhibition but well worth the money.

“My Dad Would Have Loved It”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

The model railway exhibition is located close to the Andel metro and tram stops. Entrance costs 200 KCS and there are lockers for coats etc as you enter. In hindsight we should have used these as it was quite warm inside.

It is located on two floors, with the top level containing three model railway set-ups, with the basement containing a huge area supposedly representing several railway stations in the Czech Republic eg Plzen, Hradec Kralove, Usti nad Labem etc. Every ten minutes or so the lighting changes to be night-time and the model railways are cleverly set-up so even the lights in the railway carriages, cars and houses come on as well as the street lights. The models also have impressive levels of detail eg a fire engine at a scene has a person up a ladder and a number of figures standing by watching. You can also push a button for the blades of a helicopter to start rotating, and another button topples a tree.

There are also sections showing Lego models and dolls.

There is no café within the arena, only a couple of coffee and snack vending machines.

In total we spent over 2 two hours inside, it’s something my father would have loved and it seems to be a popular place to take small children to.

“Model Railway Heaven!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

The Kingdom of Railways attraction is hidden away in the basement of a rather nondescript building not far from the Andel (Line B) metro station. As you enter the building, the ticket office and shop are on the right; further on into the building, there is a shopping area and a sandwich bar/cafe that will fill a baguette with delicious fresh fillings for you and make you a fresh coffee - be warned, inside the Railroad Kingdom, there are only snacks available from vending machines!
Once you've purchased your ticket, you need to come back out of the ticket office and go down the escalator into the basement where the model railways are displayed. There are several different areas displayed split over two floors (lift available between the floors) and a leaflet will tell you what part of the country the display is meant to represent.
The layouts are very detailed showing not only railways but also traffic on the roads and trams/streetcars as well, together with static models of people. In some areas, the detail is very good but in others, the modelling is rather crude. Every 20 minutes or so, the lighting changes between night and day - the nighttime looks quite magical with the houses and streets lit up. There are buttons on some of the displays to activate some function or other; some worked (for instance, starting a wind generator, sounding the bells from a church) but others seemed to do nothing at all! Around the walls on the lower floor are display cases full of models of all descriptions and there is also a playroom for young children.
It seems to be a "work in progress" as several of the layouts had bare areas presumably waiting for the modellers to get to work but it's worth a couple of hours of your time to visit; have a look on the English website; www.railroad-kingdom.com for more information.

“One hour visit”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Awesome place with 2 levels. But with the 8 euro's (200 czk) entrance it is very pricey. Also it is not finished yet.
