Description: The inspired menu is the creation of Executive Chef Jiří Štift; determined to revive the Golden Era of Czech cuisine for today’s high gourmet levels. He has also selected dishes from Asia, each prepared for the purity of individual flavours. In the early 20th century Prague was a European culinary centre. Chef Štift has immersed himself in the archives and culled the best from earlier cuisine ambassadors to create a menu for the modern palate.

“Nice food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Great service. Attention to detail. Great wine list.
Both Asian and Czech menus are excellent.
A bit on the expensive side but worth a visit.

Located at Mala Strana, hidden, but surprisingly and nicely restored, food and service excellent, we were even allowed to see the rooms and kitchen(s) !!!
We come back next week again.

“Great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Although the restaurant serves typical Czech food and European menus, we went for an Indian meal. Very spicy but delicious. the restaurant can serve both business and private. When we were dining a family was celebrating a child's birthday.

“Wonderful Food, Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We visited this restaurant for the “Grand Restaurant Festival” with prepaid three-course menu, a glass of wine and water for each person. The waiters and waitresses were perfectly trained and prepared for this event; the restaurant proposed three different Moravian wines at a special price reduced on the occasion of this festival. We enjoyed not only the festival menu (Thai fishcakes with green-papaya-and-mango salad; Pho soup with duck-meat dumplings; Beef navel in red curry, lychee and jasmine rice) but also their desserts (both complimentary and from the menu card), sashimi and excellent cocktails. We were very satisfied also with highly professional, but yet informal service. I recommend Essensia (not only) for special occasions, and already now we are looking forward to their tasting menu and a weekend brunch.
