“Simply delightful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

We were lucky enough to get tickets to hear the Czech Philharmonic being conducted by Leonard Slatkin. The concert was everything we expected of such an acclaimed conductor however nothing prepared us for the entire experience. The Czech people simply love going to these concerts and it is wonderful to be part of this culture. They dress up in all their finery (and we did too which they really did appreciate!) The venue, a neo Renaissance building once home to the Czech parliament for a time, creates a stunning back drop with excellent acoustics for the concerts. We bought the tickets on their website (which can be viewed in English). The site is very easy to navigate and we went along during a walk the day before to collect the tickets at the box office – which gave us an excuse to try their exceptional café which you can access via the river side entrance.

“Czech Philharmonic concert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Being in Czech, I had to hear the Janacek Sinfonietta played by the Czech Philharmonic in the Dvorak Hall of the Rudolphinium. Wonderful place, tremendous music, great atmosphere. The audience were much more smartly dressed than the British ones and champagne was sold before and in the interval. Not an ice-cream in sight! The audience were also very attentive and appreciative. Prices same as in Britain - we paid £24 each for seats in the back row of the circle. When booking, beware of columns obstructing the view (the box office lady spoke perfect English and German and helped choose a decent seat)

“Review for art gallery only: Very good selection of modern art”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

There is a simple art gallery with an entrance on the river side that has a very nice selection of art. I believe it's always changing, but the pieces I saw were excellent. I was enticed by all the posters around the city about Reality in British paintings. I really enjoyed the selection. It's a very simple gallery with I think 4 large rooms.

The art scene in Prague is in good shape. Unfortunately, it's kind of a mess here on TripAdvisor. If you like art, do some research on your own. The Veletrzni Palace is worth going to.

“Be part of Prague's cultural scene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We booked online and went to a fantastic concert by the Czech Phil only a few days before the performance and managed to get some good seats. Definitely worth experiencing the venue which had resonances of eastern block days. Acoustics were good. No photos allowed within the auditorium but this did not stop many iphone photographers.
