Owner description: The villa for Milada and Frantisek Muller in Prague is the chef-d'oeuvre of the international architectural avant-garde. He had no hesitation in commissioning one of the greatest architects of the time to design his own, representative home - Adolf Loos, who had already been active in Bohemia. This commission allowed Loos to bring his original spatial conception, known as Raumplan, to a rapid culmination. The outfitting of the villa interiors – selected and in many cases designed by the architect himself – was the embodiment of the surprising harmony between modern Functionalism and the classic English style.

“Modernist masterwork”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2011

Off the beaten track, the Villa Muller is a nice change from Baroque madness. A perfect illustration of Loos' classic statement "Ornament is Murder". A must-see for lovers of modernist architecture. The tours brings to minimal rooms to life.

“Mullerova Villa - The Famous Villa Created by A. Loos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2010

This villa has been created at the beginning of the 1930s by architect Adolf Loos.
It is situated in a residentila area of Prague and can be reached by taking a tram (please consult the website www.mullerovavila.cz for further information).

You can visit the villa only upon prior reservation. Reservations can be made through the website by indicating the date and the time (there are usuallyseveral tours a day on the full hour). Tours last between 1 and 1,5 hours and cost 400 CZK (approx. 16 EUR).

The interesting point about the villa is the so-called "Raumplan" concept which has beenr ealised by Loos. By contrast to other buildings, where the interior design and the exterior design are inextricably linked, Loos gave the future villa owners the freedom to continue to use their preferred furniture. Nevertheless, you will find very beautiful built-in cabinets of the finest woods etc.

I would recommend to do the tour of Mullerova Villa if you are interested in architecture (the tour guide was very knowledgable and there are tours in English and German) or if you ar not a first-time visitor to Prague and you would like to see a very interesting place away from the hustle and bustle of the typical Prague tourist spots.
