“Convenient, Friendly, Modern hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed for 4 nights here in both the shared dorms rooms (St. Christopher's inn) and also the private twin rooms (Mosaic House) and enjoyed both of our stays. The beds were very comfortable and shower had ample supply of hot water. The shared dorm rooms had lockers (bring your own padlock!) for securing valuables, and private twin rooms had tv, mini fridge, hairdryer and towels ensuite.

Staff were all quite friendly and helped us print out some documents, book an airport shuttle, mail postcards etc. Very good value-for-money hostel and all round positive experience.

Room Tip: If you want some quiet time, request high floor, away from staircase to avoid noise from the bar dow...

We stayed in a 4-bed private dorm after getting a free upgrade from an 8-bed shared dorm. Really clean, newly renovated rooms with spacious bathrooms a TV and a mini fridge.

The downstairs bar was fun and is always busy, a great way to meet other travellers.

In a solid location in Prague 1, walking distance to the main squares and streets with shopping and bars.
Also walking distance from the main train station- don't use the Czech taxi drivers because they are notorious for ripping tourists off.

The one downside was the laundry facilities. Only 2 machines for hundreds of guests, had to wait a long time to book a time in. When I got there, 1 was out of order which threw their timeslot booking system way out which wasted a fair bit of my time and I didn't end up getting my washing done.

But apart from this, everything else was excellent and would highly recommend!

We stayed at Mosaic house for 7 nights in one of the private rooms. The location was very good for us as it wasn't too far from Charles bridge and other tourist areas. We also found great places to eat other than the hotel near by, we really enjoyed the Lemon leaf which is about a 3 minutes walk.

The hotel room was very modern with Eco friendly features, with a tv and a wet room. I was glad there was a hair dryer provided in the bathroom which saved my using a tiny travel one. The tv only had 3 English channels which was quite annoying but you don't go on holiday to watch tv!

Don't let the hostel part of the hotel put you off as they look as nice as the private rooms and the back packers aren't rowdy or anything.

Reception is always busy with back packers checking in and out which gives the downstairs a nice buzz. When we checked in the woman told us that they would keep our passports but when we went to check out and asked for them back we were told that they shouldn't have them at all. In the end they found them in the safe so just be aware if you do stay with them that this doesn't happen to you.

Breakfast was nice, quite a big choice and set us up for a day of sight seeing.

We would stay here again and recommend it to others as it was such a good price and location.

The Mosaic was my first experience in the "hostels world" and I couldn't ask for a better one. Great location, near the main touristic points. Detailed tips with the directions, but we found some mistakes. Cheap for the quality, but no breakfast included. A little expensive but very nice bar and restaurant. I really liked the tips the staff gives after you finish the check in, they give you a nice map of the town and show all the main places, stations, etc. You pay for the towels but you receive a part of the money if you give it back. Free luggage room. There's also a free computer with internet in the hall, drink machine and automatic cash machine. Very clean. Big bathroom inside the room. Meeting point for one of the free walking city tours availables in the city. Really good experience, some places should learn with Mosaic ;)

After months of travelling and staying in some average places, we decided to splurge a little and get a twin private hotel room at Mosaic House. We were not disappointed! Big room, very clean, great bathroom, awesome shower, excellent pillows. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast is decent and the wifi works really well, even in the rooms. I would definitely stay here again.

I arrived late on a Saturday night after a very long flight and was initially a bit put off by reception being in the bar, but my room was very quiet, clean and comfortable. It's a good location, not absolutely in the centre but easy to walk to. The staff were fine, breakfast was good, no complaints.

They should really call this place what it is - some rooms above a bar. The first thing you see when you walk in is the big bar. Even the reception is a tiny desk off to the side.

When Checking in they immediately try and sell you on the pub crawl. Ugh.

There are rooms (one of the ones I am in) directly off the stairwell. The noise from the bar travels up and it sounds like the band is playing in my room. Terrible!

I booked this place because I heard hostels in the old town could be quite noisy. Now I won't be getting any sleep until the bar downstairs closes.

When I talked to the staff about the noise, they said they were full and there was nothing they could do. Not the best customer service.
