“Great Location and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

Recently stayed at Hotel Friday in Prague as a couple on a city break.
I booked the hotel very much on the basis of location and price as other hotels in the area seemed to be considerably more expensive and so I had expected a reduction in quality to match the lower price, but I was very pleasantly surprised that this wasn't really the case.

First the big positives.
The location in perfect. it is 1 minute from the end of Wenceslas Squareand maybe a 2-3 minute walk to the Old Town Square. Prague is all very compact anyway and so with this location we didn't need to use the public transport at all during our stay to get to the sights and sounds of the city.
The breakfast was varied and excellent, offerring us the chance to fill up at breakfast and take us through the day without having to worry about where we might have to stop for lunch. Breakfast was served from 8 - 11, which may be a little late for the very early risers out there, but this is undoubtedly a tourist hotel rather than a business one and so I guess most people are there to take it a bit easy as we were.
The room (314) was very large with a huge bed that was very comfortable, a well stocked mini-bar, large bathroom with toiletries and was nice and clean.
Note that from the room map in the room, 312 - 315 looked like the largest rooms on our floor.

Now the slight niggles:
There was a velux style window in the room that had a strange curtain arrangement and no blind. It looked very nice but wasn't very effective at keeping the light out - not a problem for us at this time of year but may be an issue for the light sleeper during the summer months.
The towels that were provided in the bathroom were quite small and there was only one 'bath' towel each and a hand towel.
Finally the room was quite warm for the first couple of nights, we didn't have the heating on and it was below freezing outside but was still too warm in the room. Thisseemed to be sorted out a couple of days in though so not sure what the issue with that was.

Basically we had a great stay in Prague. Slept well andwalked out of the hotel each day in to the center of everything in Prague and wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Hotel Friday to others.

We have just returned from a fabulous 3 night stay at the Friday hotel. The first thing that hits you is the incredible location, just steps away from Wencelaslas Square, and about a 7 minute walk from the Old Town. The Friday Hotel proved a relaxing calm base away from the hustle and bustle of Prague's busy centre.

The reception is very welcoming, decorated in a boutique style, light and modern. Check in was easy and quick, which was very welcome after a late arrival. Our room '312' was located on the third floor, easily reached either by the stairs or via the lift. The room was huge, much bigger than we had anticipated and the huge bed dominated it. The bathroom was also of a good size, with a powerful shower, huge deep bath, free toiletries and large mirror.

It was only after a great nights sleep on the extremely comfortable bed that we noticed a few minor flaws with the room. There were crack in the walls, a few minor stains and cobwebs. This is definitely not enough to put us off, but we realise this may be crucial to some peoples enjoyment of the hotel.

Breakfast was ample and varied. It included a selection of meats and cheeses, alongside croissants and other pastries, hot options (bacon, sausage, egg etc) breads and juices. The selection was, at times slightly peculiar, with broccoli and green beans, but we always managed to find something that we liked.

The receptionists were always polite and eager to help with any queries that we had!

We would have no hesitations in recommending the Friday hotel and would be sure to return here if we were to revisit Prague.

We stayed for 2 nights in late February in room n.214, here are our observations:

Pros:
- location can't be beat - it was steps away from shops, restaurants, cafes, Old Town Square and Wenclas Square. I have been to Prague many times but never had a hotel in such a convenient location.
- quietness - since it is in pedestrian zone, you don't have to worry about traffic noise, no noisy pubs or clubs around either
- breakfast was until 11 am so you can sleep in :)
- room was spacious
- free wifi - speed was great one day (good enough for fast streaming), average the next day

Neutral:
- staff - not too informative, nice or welcoming, but not rude either
- breakfast - the quality/quantity is nothing to write home about

Cons:
- there is not enough light in the room. There is no central fixture in the bedroom, only lamps on night stands and a free standing lamp that didn't work. The bathroom was pretty dark as well, I had trouble applying make up.
- if you are arriving by car, you will not be able to get directly to the entrance of the hotel

Conclusion: the hotel is starting to show some wear but we would stay here again because of the location, reasonable price (70 Eur per night with breakfast for 2) and an okay breakfast.

This hotel is wonderful, the location is very central. The receptionists are nice and polite. The rooms are spotlessly clean. The breakfasts are good too. They leave a free bottle of wine in the room - which hotel gives out free wine? Only this one!

What's the catch? Nothing, just that the rooms are a little dark, you may need to bring a couple of light bulbs with! Don't let that put you off, we would definitely stay there again.

We booked three nights room 206 - a double with kingsize bed. Our friend was in 306 - a large room in the eaves with very nice old style furniture. The whole hotel is very clean as was our room and bathroom. A very wide choice at breakfast- fruit, yoghurts, cheese, cereals and cooked all available. Checkout was 12 noon which helped too as we had a late flight back. Everywhere in the Old Town was within easy walking distance and we found some great old-style Prague cellar pubs to eat and drink in - see my other reviews.

This hotel was a pleasantly surprising find! The location is incredible, the room and bathroom were first class and the inclusive breakfast was several steps higher than I was initially thinking it would be! Also, the staff were very friendly and helpful, thank you all for making it such a pleasant and memorable stay! It was a wonderful 5 night stay and I have already shared the hotel with many friends!! I will definitely stay here next time I am in Prague!!!!

The ladies at the reception desk were wonderful, helping out with everything we needed, and changed the check-in and check-out hours to our convenience.
The room was very nice and spacious. We never felt the freezing cold of the outside, on the contrary – we needed to open a window because the room was so well heated. The bath was very clean and had everything we needed (soap, shampoo, lotion, shower hat, et cetera)
It was a bit noisy at nights but that's what you get when your hotel is located at the best location in the city.
