Recently stayed at Hotel Friday in Prague as a couple on a city break.
I booked the hotel very much on the basis of location and price as other hotels in the area seemed to be considerably more expensive and so I had expected a reduction in quality to match the lower price, but I was very pleasantly surprised that this wasn't really the case.
First the big positives.
The location in perfect. it is 1 minute from the end of Wenceslas Squareand maybe a 2-3 minute walk to the Old Town Square. Prague is all very compact anyway and so with this location we didn't need to use the public transport at all during our stay to get to the sights and sounds of the city.
The breakfast was varied and excellent, offerring us the chance to fill up at breakfast and take us through the day without having to worry about where we might have to stop for lunch. Breakfast was served from 8 - 11, which may be a little late for the very early risers out there, but this is undoubtedly a tourist hotel rather than a business one and so I guess most people are there to take it a bit easy as we were.
The room (314) was very large with a huge bed that was very comfortable, a well stocked mini-bar, large bathroom with toiletries and was nice and clean.
Note that from the room map in the room, 312 - 315 looked like the largest rooms on our floor.
Now the slight niggles:
There was a velux style window in the room that had a strange curtain arrangement and no blind. It looked very nice but wasn't very effective at keeping the light out - not a problem for us at this time of year but may be an issue for the light sleeper during the summer months.
The towels that were provided in the bathroom were quite small and there was only one 'bath' towel each and a hand towel.
Finally the room was quite warm for the first couple of nights, we didn't have the heating on and it was below freezing outside but was still too warm in the room. Thisseemed to be sorted out a couple of days in though so not sure what the issue with that was.
Basically we had a great stay in Prague. Slept well andwalked out of the hotel each day in to the center of everything in Prague and wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Hotel Friday to others.
