The hotel is 2 km away from the old town centre and Charles bridge. You can walk this (as we did every day) and it takes about 30 mins (slow walking). Directly outside the hotel is a train and tram track which will stop you sleeping if you get a room next to it. We live next to a rail track at home and it still kept us awake. This can be resolved by asking for a room at the back of the hotel or on a higher level. Don't let this put you off the hotel. You can jump on a tram almost right outside the hotel,if you don't fancy a walk. Shampoo and soap provided at the hotel as is a hair dryer and sat tv (limited English) food in the hotel restaurant is very good although more expensive than a local restaurant.
The city is very safe, we did not have any issues at all. The buildings and culture are great, with loads of history and loads of tourist sites. Food and drink can be by very cheap. We managed to find a great bar where you can get a large beer for less than £1. I would recommend this hotel.
