“favorite in Prague”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Location may seem to be far apart but indeed this is fine entry gate to all major city attactions.

I've stayed here for three times and this is my favorite place in Prague.

Well kept room - a little e bit out of date - but still comfortable.

Breakfast ok - music is a little bit too loud but besides the selection is ok.

Staff is really helpfull and I see the same faces for years - which is a good sign for me.

Sleeping quality is outstanding - as there is no traffic around and air is very fresh due to up-hill location and proximity of park.

Don't hesitate to stay.

Its a long walk to the town and very steep!!! very close to Prague Castle. The room was good size and had aircon, nice bathroom and shower and helpful staff on reception. We used the hotels taxi and the price was very good.

ATTENTION PARENTS: There are several statues of naked bodies in the lobby. They are tasteful and beautiful, but naked and explicit (I cannot stress explicit enough).
Far away and yet so close. Part of the Strahov Monastery land, the adorable courtyard of the hotel, spilling into a cobbled street road, close to the Praha Castle and the Lobkowitz museum is a fabulous location. There are a few restaurants right around the corner that provide everything you can aim for: a small brewery with true local cuisine, a larger restaurant with local and worldwide cuisine and a hidden underground restaurant in a cave!
There is a trolley stop for bus 22 (the "tourist bus") between the hotel and the Castle.
The cobblestone courtyard with a statue of a girl and a dog, the french bistro type tables along the side of the restaurant and the large still welcoming lobby make prolong the magic of Prague.
Said magic ends abruptly with the front desk staff. The language barrier was palpable and even when we tried to speak czech we were not sure whether they understood or we were being brushed off. The bar and restaurant were no different. On one night we wanted to have drinks, but we had to hurry up to order and didn't dare order a second drink because of the attitude the waitress had. On another occasion we tried to have dinner and the same waitress, with a very fatigued demeanor agreed to bring food to us, but it was dependent upon our choice. (No, she didn't say what she could bring, we had to choose first).
To us the room is a place to sleep and shower between our adventures (i.e. spas, gyms, views, etc are nice to have but not a must). The room was unimpressive nor good or bad. The window faced a wall covered by luscious vine about 8-10 feet away. The AC was impossible to control and not cold enough. The bathroom was modern and nice. The one frustrating thing about the room, but not exclusive to this hotel or country was that there was no upper sheet. There was a sort of duvet (a blanket really) with a sheet wrapping it. In other words, either you covered yourself with a blanket or didn't cover yourself at all. This was exacerbated by the fact that the weather would have easily qualified as tropical.

The Lindner is actually better than average (This application doesn't give me the option of adding half points; the hotel deserves at least 3.5). Located right next to the Strahov Monastery, within easy walking distance to the Castle, it is both quiet and close enough to the central attractions of Prague. The property (and location) has all the potential of a quaint boutique hotel, yet it feels like a chain tourist hotel, which is a real pity. With a bit more effort this could be a real gem. The rooms are spacious, airconditioned (essential!!!), comfortable and very clean, breakfast (and food in general) reasonsbly satisfactory, but somehow there are too many perfunctory smiles of underpaid employees, too little knowledge and resourcefulness at the front desk, too many reminders that the guest is a bit of a nussance, and only needs to be given that bit of luxurious illusion as defined by the chain management. The worst for me, though, was the vey poor water pressure of the shower. Call me eccentric, but i csn't start a day without an invigorating stream of warm water on my back. The miserable trickle coming out of the Lindner's shower head was a real let-down.

We spent ten lovely nights at the Lindner Hotel Prague Castle in the Czech Republic and enjoyed a leisurely visit in Prague. The hotel is in the castle district and a 7 minute walk to Prague Castle. It is also right next door to the Monastery and a lovely restaurant overlooking the city called, Bella Vista. There is a tram (#22) within walking distance that will take you to the other side of the river to Old Town or you can easily walk down the hill through the Mala Strana district and over the Charles Bridge to Old Town. We loved this hotel and enjoyed the outdoor patio for eating breakfast in the mornings and winding down in the evenings after a day of sightseeing. In the evenings the surrounding area is quiet (the nightclubs and late night restaurants are in Old Town); so we also slept well. The front desk staff was outstanding. They were personable and professional and helped us book excursions, make restaurant reservations, find an art store, hire a driver, buy tram tickets, recommended walking routes, and also smoothly moved us to a triple room when my son, who was living in Prague on the other side of the river, came to stay with us for a few days. I highly recommend this hotel and thank the staff for a wonderful stay!

The room itself was fine. The breakfasts were not nearly as good as the Hilton in Vienna and the Sofitel in Budapest. Also, we went to their buffet for dinner and were very disappointed. The only entree was pork loin. The food was fair. The bath towels were threadbare. We asked for extra towels the first day, were ignored, and never bothered again. We asked for a wake-up call for 7am and it never came. When we mentioned it to the front desk, they said they forgot- no apology. The hotel is generally shabby. The front desk, other than for the wake-up call tried to be helpful. We didn't care for the location. It required a taxi or tram to get to Old Town and the Charles Bridge. We would have preferred a better location.

Staying here with several people we had a fairly terrible time. Starting with the air conditioner not working and the bar fridge being a heater we had to complain several time before we got a room change. Further ti this our parents room flushed from the toilet and came out the bath which was unbelievable. Whilst the location is quite scenic be prepared for a long hike if you don't want to jump on and off trams. Overall I would not recommend this hotel though the customer service manager was pretty helpful once we stopped dealing with the guys at reception
