“Great bargain !!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2009

This is a great hotel to stay at if "value-for-money" is a criteria for your travelling. It is on the outskirts of the city centre in a slightly seedy side of town but it takes 30 mins to walk to Wenceslas Sq and 50 mins to walk to the Castle. There are lots of interesting bars and restuarants around you that are cheap, cheerful and ethnic. The poor reviews you might get of this hotel reflect the pickier type of Brit Abroad who is looking for an alternative to the Costa Brava and is completely at a loss if they can't find sausage, beans, scrambled egg and bacon on the breakfast menu and are only going to Prague because they hear it is a good place to go and get pissed for a stag do. Sadly we saw a lot of them floating around town during our stay. The staff we found initially to be slightly cold but we soon realised that this was because they were shy and as one of them said to me " unused to dealing with english tourists".It's amazing how their attitude changed if you said "please" and "thank you " in stumbling czech. I can't complain about the breakfasts. The hotel catered for the calorie-watcher to high-calorie eater. The breakfasts were an ideal start to the day whatever your morning routine was. I had been concerned about the fact that it was meant to be situated on a busy road. We were put into a room on the top floor and could not hear a thing!!! If you can get a bargain price for this hotel then book it.

We really enjoyed our stay in Prague, all the staff at the gloria were fantastic help and very friendly. We will be booking again, location a bit far out but the tram service is just up the road. The Gloria is very clean and rooms are a good size, the pillows are just the best !! and the breakfast was lovely. Thank you to all at the Gloria x

With the exception of one "lurch"-like receptionist, all staff were very attentive and helpful. The reception staff had very helpful paper slips with directions to various places and even 5% discount at an already very good value eatery just over the road (main courses are the prices of starters in the city centre!!).

Room was wonderful, clean, modern and bright. Has a fridge too which was very useful - no tea-making facilities though - soaps were provided. Only problem was on the weekend - our room was right next to the rather dodgy-looking "Incognito" club next door - though we never saw any trouble nor felt unsafe - the thumping music could be felt in our room all through the night until past 7am!! I think other rooms would not have this problem though.

The location was absolutely great - very convenient to get into the centre by bus - but far enough out that we could wander into less touristy neighbourhoods and get a feel for the more local life. Around the TV tower was very relaxing and exciting at the same time.

My only issue was with the breakfast. I really felt the breakfast let the hotel down. The breads and pastries were not fresh (and no toaster to make them more edible) and the fruit salad looked like it had seen better days. I wonder whether it might have been better to have less variety and greater quality. Nevertheless, I was very happy with my stay here - and am already making plans to come back.

Was booked in a party of four for 2 rooms but was told on arrival that they only had only one room available. The hotel had been overbooked which appears to be a problem with this particular hotel chain.(City partner group) I did not see the point in creating a scene as they would not have turfed people out of another room to accommodate us. It would have been Very nice to have been told this prior to arrival that they had let out our room after we had paid for it. Transferred to another hotel which was apparently a 3 minute walk away according to receptionist - Actually felt like 10 minute up a steep hill. Be warned that when booking this hotel to ask them for clarification that they are expecting you and not to let out your room which you have booked. I am basing the hotel rating on the annoyance of the overbooking whilst not actually staying there

Myself and 3 relatives (all male) stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of March 2009. The hotel has been recently renovated, and I must say to a very good standard!! The rooms were fantastic, put it this way, I have stayed in worse hotels in the U.K! Would definately stay here again! The staff were more than helpfull and very pleasent! The location is around a 15 minute walk to the main-hub of Prague (Iv walked longer to get to my local), however there is a tram stop about 5 minutes walk from the hotel and trams run every 5 minutes, (seriously, Prague has THE BEST transport system in Europe!!) However if you dont want to do any walking, the hotel reception will call a taxi for you! Taxis are fairly cheap! Now to the only grumble I had about the hotel...................breakfast was continental (which is fine, after all, if I wanted crap food I would have stayed in the UK), however there was no toaster, I would assume toast is universal!! :-) It could simply be the case that the toaster was broken and was replaced after we left! So, for 3 mornings on the run, it was hard boiled eggs, cheese and bread. They do also offer a selection of cereal, however milk after the amount of beer I was drinking was prob not a good idea! :-) Finally, Prague is one of the best Cities in Europe, brimming with culture and archetecture! If you are on a 'lads weekend'-you need to be at Wenceslas Square-Thats where all the magic happens, however if you are a couple and looking for quality time, you need to be down the Old Town-its full of nice restaurants and bars to keep you entertained! Prague has a lot to offer-dont be put off by this hotels location-Its not as bad as it seems! Definately stay here again! Enjoy!!!

We booked a triple room and it was modern, clean, spacious and very comfortable! The hotel staff were very friendly and it was a good price too! It was a 15 walk to the nearest metro station and slightly out of the town centre but worth it if you are on a budget and dont mind the walk.
Definitely would stay here again!

We had never been to prague but got an excellent deal for hotel gloria on the internet, superb value. It is located a good 15 minute walk from the city centre and its in an area with casinos and 24 hour gambling facilities, still the area is fairly safe. the hotel itself is small but gorgeous, our room was fantastic. Breakfast is in a small dining area, there is no restaurant but plenty near by. i would definately recommend this hotel, the staff spoke english and were friendly and very helpful.

  • Liked — the comfort of the room and how clean it was
  • Disliked — the location
