“Nice hotel but a bit disappointing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

One of our main reasons for booking this hotel was because it offered a jacuzzi and sauna.. a nice plus we felt seeing as Prague is very cold in January, we were very disappointed to discover however that you must pay to use these facilities and that you must booked them in advance.. we felt we had been misled a bit. The staff however are absolutely lovely - very friendly and so helpful!

Room Tip: The twin room was quite a bit smaller than we expected.

Dear Deborah,

we are very sorry, that you were disappointed, that our wellness centre was not free of charge and it was necesary to book it in advance. I think that our price 20 EUR for 1 unlimited entrance to our private wellness centre for using whirlpool, sauna and steam bath is not expensive, comparing with other 5* hotels and their facilities in Prague. It is necesary to book it in advance, because a lot of guests are booking the wellness centre and after every use we clean all facilities and put clean new water in the whirlpool. Preparing new bath takes approx. 1 hour. The size of our rooms you can find on our web sites. We are pleased that your were satisfied with our other services, our staff and you enjoyed your stay in Prague.

Best regards

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

I stayed at this hotel in October 2012 for 4 nights. I had a lovely suite that overlooked Prague castle. The bathroom was superb, and a bit funny with the weird sound system that played muzak. Luckily we could control the volume and even turn it off. My room was lovely, cozy and with old world charm. The best part was the big tub where I soaked m weary legs after days walking the cobble stone streets. No wifi in the room, but I was able to use wifi in the lobby.
Great access to Old Town, New town, and all the sites. VERY central. Easily found the metro for excursions further afield.
The staff was pleasant and always helpful.
Only major drawback: terrible pillows. Also, to use the "spa" (hot tub/sauna) would cost 25euros/person and the front desk needed a minimum 1 hour advance notice.
The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Just what you need before a full day of walking the city and seeing the sites.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite with a view of the casstle.

Dear Valuable Guest,

thank you for your opinion, what is very important to us. We are pleased that you were satisfied with your stay at our hotel, with the staff and our services.

We would like to inform you, that wifi is already in all of our rooms and free of charge. Our private wellness centre costs 20 EUR per 1 unlimited entrance per 1 reservation, not per person. I think that our price 20 EUR for 1 unlimited entrance to our private wellness centre for using whirlpool, sauna and steam bath is not expensive, comparing with other 5* hotels and their facilities in Prague. It is necesary to book it in advance, because a lot of guests are using the wellness centre and after every use we clean all facilities and put new clean water in the whirlpool. Preparing new bath takes approx. 1 hour.

We are very sorry that you were not safisfied with our pillows. We could provide you more pillows or antiallerghic pillows, which we provide free of charge on request.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards

A special occasion so we booked a Senior Suite - in 601 - great view of the Palace. But that was about all.

We arrived on the Sunday evening so had booked a meal. There was no chef on duty (nor the Monday night). We had not been informed of this when we booked - and we feel we should have been. At the very least we should have been asked if we had a meal preference.

A meal had been left for us which was not suitable - we are vegetarians - which is why we liked the menu offered online and which happily catered for us. The waiter (Karel) did his very best to accommodate us and did well under the circumstances for which we were very grateful.

No one could work the lighting in our room - which I eventually sorted out myself (one staff member had arranged to bring in a specialist electrician!) A bedside light was missing and the desk lamp did not work. I got the desk lamp fixed within a day and used that as a bedside lamp.

Floor stains in toilet were unpleasant. I contacted Manager on the third day and was told the marble floor was stained and needed specialist polishing. Also that guests had trashed three rooms hence no bedside lamp which had to be ordered from Italy. He supplied a spare lamp that matched that of the desk. This, in itself, not a problem, more a minor irritation, but not 5* standards.

The water in the hotel was not hot enough to bathe - barely acceptable to shower. I was told this could not be altered.

It was a lovely hotel, with friendly staff, but the level of training is not of a sufficiently high standard - nor should this hotel be rated 5*.

Length of stay: 2 Dec - 6 Dec 2012

Room Tip: Senior Suite has fab views - bit noisy from trams - but not really a problem.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012 via mobile

Just back from a 4 night stay here with 2 other friends. I'm not the one who had booked the room and when i had read some of the very negative reviews I was a little concerned. I am happy to say that we had none of the negative experiences related here. I would say that if you are someone who is very picky, who complains because the towels are not folded properly... You may not want to stay here. The 3 of us are seasoned travellers who like comfort, but who are not overly fussy and the hotel more than met our expectations. The staff was very friendly and efficient (without being cloyingly chipper). They were very accommodating in allowing an early check in at 11 am without advanced notice. We had one of the least expensive rooms and we added a 3rd bed so we were all together. Yes, the room was small, but all we really planned to do there was sleep and so it was fine for us. The beds were comfortable, and there were no bedbugs as a couple of negative reviews reported. The bathroom was also small, but the plumbing all worked just fine and the rainfall hot shower was lovely. As for some of the reviews about breakfast: we were never early risers so were usually down around 9:30-10:00 am and there was always plenty of food. The dining room is a bit small as well and a couple of times the 3 of us squeezed in at a table for two rather than wait for a larger one. We always came away with full tummies and my coffee drinking friends report that their coffee was excellent. The location of the hotel is excellent, barely a couple minutes walk to the Charles Bridge, handy to the castle as well. I would say that if you can get a deal on the price of the rooms and are not paying the rack rate then this is a pretty good deal (especially since breakfast is thrown in). We got the room at about 120 euro/night for 3 people (would have been about 90 euro for 2 people). I would not consider it good value though at the going rack rate of over 200 euro. Tip: ask for a room not on the street side, very quiet.

Our accomodations were beautifully appointed, with old world grandeur. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. We were equally impressed with the restaurant serving the generous daily breakfast. The view of the castle from our window was magnificent, especially when lit up at night.

My husband stayed at this gorgeous hotel on a business trip and knew it was the only place in Prague to bring me for my 40th birthday trip. He requested a room with a breathtaking view of the castle and I truly felt like a princess. The rooms are small, but so grandly decorated that you don't care. The entire hotel makes you feel like you're in an actual palace. The breakfast room is opulant and gorgeous and the breakfast itself is very good. There's a cozy bar that's perfect to enjoy a drink or hot pot of tea after a chilly day. They also have an amazing private spa area that you call ahead to reserve and is prepared just for you. There's a large jacuzzi as well as a steam room, both very clean. The hotel is within walking distance to the gorgeous Charles Bridge, which allows you access to restaurants, shopping and the old square, where you'll find all kinds of treats. The impeccable service was the icing on a very gorgeous cake. I can't wait for my next visit to this beautiful hotel and this amazing city.

The hotel is in a great location- out of the way of all the hustle n bustle but 10 minutes walk to Charles Bridge and 15 minutes to the Old town ( we travelled in December- the markets are in full swing, big Christmas tree in the square). Plenty of bars and restaurants just round the corner and Prague castle is 10 mins in the other direction. The hotel itself is very very nice. The porter was right on hand as we arrived and we were shown to our room quickly. The room was spotlessly clean and well decorated. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. The staff were very helpful when asked where was good to go etc. If we went to Prague again we would not hesitate to stay here again :)

Room Tip: We were in 501- right next to the lift up and down and beautiful view of the gardens
