“Birthday Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Was not sure what i would think about this hotel, but was very surprised at how nice it was. i stayed at this hotel in October 2011 and would definately go back and stay there again, good location, very quiet area and about a 10 - 15 min walk to the old town, which after you had had a nice meal out in was a nice walk to walk your dinner off. Staff were pleasant, rooms were a good size and breakfast was adequate.

If you book early and get good prices it's great value. Great breakfast buffet.
Try to book through a local agency and you are in for a bargain.
I paid B&B for the junior suite 165 a night € everything inclusive

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but the junior suite is quite spacious.

This hotel is situated just outside the old town. The walking distance to the touristic places is less then 15 min. The hotel has a bar but I have not seen any guests there so it does does not invite you to sit there alone. The Club suite is nice and has an above average bathroom.

I would rate this hotel 5 star if it were more centrally located. It is a 15 minute walk to the Old Town and there are not really many dining options nearby. That being said the staff was very friendly, the rooms were good sized and the bathroom very modern. The hotel is also very quiet for those that are noise sensitive. If you don't mind the walk down to Old Town this hotel would make a nice choice.

The hotel and amenities are very nice but it's a good 20 minute walk to Old Town Square. The metro is about a 3 minute walk. There isn't much to do in the immediate area and I would not walk by myself at night. Staff was friendly and the concierge staff was incredibly helpful. Although the breakfast area was small it had an adequate selection, including an omelette station. We were upgraded from a junior suite to a duplex suite and I would have much preferred the junior suite but despite having made our reservations weeks in advance they were sold out of the junior suites when we arrived. I would have preferred a standard room to the duplex suite, which had stairs to the living area and another bathroom, which was terribly inconvenient to try to use the extra space. The ceiling was slanted and much of the bedroom was unusable without banging one's head on it. The windows were in the ceiling so there was absolutely no view and the room seemed very close because of it. All in all I would probably not stay here again due to the location and that our reserved room was not available.

Room Tip: Don't choose a duplex suite unless you want to climb stairs, bang your head, and don't care...

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time and posting a review of your stay at our hotel. Please accept my apology for the unavailability of your selected room type. Duplex Suite is typically an upgrade from a Junior Suite, however in your case I understand this was exactly the other way around. Once again thank you for staying at the Sheraton Prague Hotel.

Kind regards,

Mario Egger

We used out SPG points for this 3 night stay and paid a 500 CZK (~26USD) supplement per night to upgrade to a Junior Suite. I have Gold status with SPG and our two friends traveling with us do not.

Check-in was quick and courteous. We arrived at noon and there were no rooms available yet. Due to my Gold status, they had one ready within 30 minutes. Our friends, were told to come back at 3pm. Another reward for my Gold status was free internet, which is an amenity we find more and more valuable with each passing year. We were able to stay connected with our iPad and iPod throughout our stay in addition to having free access to the hotel's lobby computers for printing our boarding passes at the end of our stay.

At first look, we were a little disappointed with our room because it did not look like the photos on the website and it had no view. We quickly got over this as we realized all the great things about the room that provided us with a very comfortable stay. Due to the lack of view, the room faced no streets and was VERY quiet the entire stay. This and the super firm and comfortable bed allowed us to sleep well most of our stay. There was more than enough living and storage space in the room so we weren't tripping over our bags and each other. The bathroom and shower were amazing! Other appointments include a safe, refrigerator and expresso machine, all used daily.

We did not eat at the hotel because we thought it was overpriced and we felt no need to eat hotel food when a fantastic European city was within an easy walk. At the airport, the information desk kind of strong-armed us into buying an unlimited 3 day public transportation pass. We ended up only using it to and from the airport since we walked everywhere else. We found a small grocery only a few minute walk from the hotel to pick up snacks and breakfast items. We also discovered two noteworthy restaurants only a short walk away, Cafe Colore and Pastacaffe. Both restaurants serve breakfast, lunch and dinner every day with good service, artfully prepared food and reasonable prices. Wenceslas Square was only a 10 minute walk and the center of Old Town a 20-25 minute walk. Most streets in Prague are pedestrian friendly and many are for pedestrians only. The daily Street Market is on the way to Old Town and not to be missed if you enjoy shopping.

A few past reviewers have criticized the location. We noticed nothing unsavory about the neighborhood and always felt safe. If you are in good condition and enjoy walking, you should not find the location inconvenient. If you are not in condition for lots of walking, you need to take transportation to most tourist attractions. We loved the location and would stay at the Sheraton Charles Square again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Rooms on the courtyard don't have views but are very quiet for sleeping.

The Sheraton Charles Square is a excellent property in all respects. We had booked an executive suite. The suite we were assigned was OK but only had a tub/shower and the tub was the typical European style that is difficult to enter and exit. As my husband has some mobility problems, we asked if any other rooms were available. We were assigned a suite that was outstanding and had the best walk-in shower I have ever seen in a hotel. The suite was spacious and spotless. When the handle of one of my rolling suitcases was broken, their technician repaired it so that I was able to use it for the remainder of my trip.
All the personnel were very helpful and friendly, especially the concierge, who arranged several sightseeing trips for us and cancelled others. The lobby computers were excellent and easy to use with service that was free, fast and intuitive.
We had lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. Again, the staff was efficient and friendly.
The location was convenient to Wensenslas Square and was a short walk to shopping.
Overall, this was an excellent hotel and I would stay here again if I go back to Prague.

Room Tip: It appears that some rooms have been renovated so be sure to ask for one of those.
