St Vithus Cathedral in PRague is a masterpiece, but St Barbara Cathedral ain't much far from it!! It's indeed an amazing church to visit, loaded with stained glass and many details which resembles Kutna Hora glory from the mining ages...

“Beautiful cathedral to stop by if you're in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We planned a day trip on our own to Kutna Hora from Prague mainly to visit the Bone Church, but we walked to the actual town of Kutna Hora afterwards. There were several guided day trip tours available from Prague, but we planned the trip ourselves and saved about 50% off of the tour price. Our trip ended up being very similar to the tours - we took the same trains from Prague as some of the groups did and often saw them walking around nearby us in Kutna Hora. The tours were probably more comfortable with private transportation in Kutna Hora and had more information available about the sights. (I have also written a review of the Bone Church)

The cathedral is located deep into town, so it's quite a trek if you're walking all the way from the Bone Church. There are public buses, but we were not sure what the schedules were. From the Bone Church, it's about a 20-25 minute walk to the outskirts of Kutna Hora, and another 10-15 minute (slightly uphill) walk from the outskirts of Kutna Hora to the front of St. Barbara's Cathedral. Since we were on our own, we had some trouble finding our way around the town but eventually made it. The cathedral is beautiful inside and out, and there we took some photos inside and wandered around admiring the structure. We spent about 45-60 minutes inside and outside around the cathedral. We weren't very familiar with what else there was to see in Kutna Hora and walked around a little before going to the bus stop and waiting for a bus to take us back to the train station. Having a guide to tell us a little more about the town would have been helpful at this point.

“Architectural miracle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Being in Prague, choose one day to visit this nice town - it's really not so far and during spring-summer-autumn time there's direct train from the main station of Prague (Praha, hlavní nádraží). If you go as a group of four (or more) the ticket will cost quite nothing - you should say at the ticket desk that you need a group ticket back and forth the same day!!!
I liked the architectural style of this Cathedral at first sight!!!:) From 1995 Cathedral of St. Barbara (patroness of coalminers) is under patronage of UNESCO! And it's really worth it to be supported by international fonds).

“Impressive inside and out, a must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We visited Kutna Hora mainly to see the bone church, but for this is was the best find of the day. It has an amazingly scenic location, set on the edge of a cliff giving great views over a valley. The architecture is amazing, to view from a distance and as you get closer, walking though the ancient cobbled lanes and inside is a range of grand architecture, ornate ornaments and wall paintings, what also makes the experience unique is the lack of barriers and screens, leaving you free to feel like your occupying the church in the same way as others centuries before you.

“A must-see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

St. Barbara is a very unusual church, sitting at the top of a hill with a nest of flying buttresses protruding from her roof. It was snowing when I arrived, and it looked magical. The inside was just as impressive (although unsurprisingly even colder than outside - I was glad to have my thick layers!). The artwork inside is splendid and the quality of light was beautiful. I thoroughly recommend this short day-trip. I hired a car and it was easy to get to by road.
