“Very interesting, must see for people who like history.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

We actually stumbled upon this place and weren't planning on coming here. Luckily there was an English tour running 15 minutes from when we arrived. The guide was amusing and very informative on the production of silver and how the mine originally worked. It was interesting to get to see the old silver mine and imagine the conditions the workers had to deal with.

“Meh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

We opted for the tour without the mine portion. Our very sweet guide took us through the museum section. Her English was very limited (not judging because my Czech is non-existent) just noting that the English tour is a bit difficult to understand. You have to reserve a time to tour this, so stop off on your way to St. Barbara's and reserve your tour!

“Lovely history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

If your interest includes local history, this is for you. Somewhat difficult to find, but it is right in the center of town. Lovely history and lovingly preserved artifacts.

“Fascinating!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We signed up for the tour, but there wasn't one available in English. We elected to go with the Czech tour, with a printed handout in English. The English text was not helpful at all, and we were beginning to get irritated because we had no idea what was being said while trying to find the appropriate piece in our English text. Fortunately for us, George (Jirka), a guide at the museum who spoke English, saw us struggling and offered to take the four of us on our own tour. He was amazing. His English was excellent, his knowledge of the mine and the history was extensive. George absolutely made this visit for us. Without him, I think this review would be very different. It is worth, as suggested, to wait for an English tour. Having said all of the above, the mine visit was absolutely worth the little bit of aggravation. Putting on hard hats and white coats was wise: the ceilings are low and the mine is very wet. Just being that far underground, trying to image how the miners worked with such little light in incredibly tight, claustrophobic conditions was more than enlightening. I'll think twice now before I moan about being stopped in a tunnel on the subway! Once we finished our tour underground, George stayed with us, even though his shift had ended, and pointed out some other interesting features above ground. I hope the management at the Museum of Silver realize what a fantastic employee they have, and what a credit George is to their organization.

“Unique experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Very good informative tour. Although the hats seem over the top they are needed. An exhilarating experience.
