After finishing off the lodging portion of our honeymoon, my wife and I ventured to Kuting Reef (she had heard about from some of our friends). The multicab ride there was interesting since it went from cramped to more cramped to ultimate max cramped. Therefore, try to find a different transportation route to Kuting Reef! When we arrived here and started venturing about, we could instantly recognize that this was a top-notch place. Fabulous landscaping, great facilities, and friendly staff members. We didn't actually do much other than buy stuff out of the gift shop and have a snack/drink, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. They have this goofy life-sized chess board that is kinda odd. The main attraction all along this southern coast of Leyte is the beach and being right at the waterline. I can't recommend it high enough and will assuredly be back!

Its a nice established resort, althought not good location we saids it was hard trip to get that shore. We've been kinda cheat to took 7 hours boat ride from Cebu Island to get there. Haha!! we survived.

All staff there were so nice, massager nice, frontdesk good attitude just not quite sure about things. But I think thats traditional. Very good chef who could have nicely cooked the fish we bought outside. Appreciated!!

Our group stayed 4 night with 7 rooms, unfortunately Only my room happend serveral problem about different things. All staff were tried hard and quick to fix.

Room Tip: not much near where we stayed. where the southern point of Leyte Island in Philippine.

During our vacation in the Philippines, we ate lunch here twice and paid for the pool for one afternoon the food was very good and the service was fast. The pool was nice and the grounds surrounding it was very breathtaking, especially if you walk down to the beach where the rock formation is (towards the right side). Reminded me of Hawaii but prettier and the people are nicer. Can't wait to go back!!

Myself, boyfriend, mother and cousin stayed here in Aug 2012 and was very dissapointed. Kuting reef COULD be an amazing resort, the biggest let down is the staff, constantly texting and talking on mobiles, laughing and joking with each other instead of attending to paying guests needs. Everything incredibly slow, to check-in and out, took over an hour each time and it took 40 minutes just to get a bottle of water by the pool, waitress too busy shielding her bleached white face from the sun to bother with guests. The manager of resort and staff all need training. The owner has obviously spent a lot of time, effort and money on the resort and its website and its a real shame the staff are ridiculously lazy when unsupervised, although I dont think there was anyone in a supervisory position there during the time of our stay. A case of the blind leading the blind!
TV only works with DVD player, so cannot watch local news/TV at all as not connected to cable and DVDs available at reception are pretty rubbish. Electric shower in our room (Room 10) had random wire hanging out of plug, looked quite dangerous and we were a little scared about showering, we know good lawyers though so if anything were to happen....
Breakfast incredibly dissappointing it consisted of cold rice, cold chicken adobo (Mostly back bones of the chicken) Cold fried eggs and a few bruised bananas. They have great stainless steel warming containers that keep food warm, yet they were unlit - possibly because the food had been there for a very long time and they didnt want to dry it out, which is a very poor attitude. We ended up ordering from the menu some Toast. Chef started screaming in bisaya about us when we sent the toast back to kitchen as it was untoasted. Unknown to him I am completely fluent in Bisaya and understood every appalling word. Unbelievable behaviour! its a small expectation when you order toast for the bread to actually be toasted, and entirely irrational to start screaming and banging in the kitchen in annoyance over toast!
Pool area only has 2 sun loungers, quite silly considering the size of the pool and number of rooms. During our stay there were a lot of day tripers who had lots of carry bags, tupperware, and pots around the pool - picnic Filipino style! They were very noisy and distracting and swam in pool fully clothed, a little annoying considering its supposed to be a modern resort.
Another massive annoyance was the school excursion that arrived. My boyfriend and I were swimming in the pool suddenly to be surrounded by 50 students visiting the resort for study purposes. They all crowded around us and started taking photos of us. Very weird and very rude despite telling them to stop directly, staff ignored our requests to tell them we do not wish to be photographed. It was a strange situation that apparently happens every week.

I could go on and on about the inadequacies of thiss resort, so in essence, if you live nearby or are visiting friends or relatives, it may be a nice place to stay during this period, just manage your expectaions, this is a 2 star resort at best. Do not go out of your way to travel to this resort it really is not worth it. We drove over 3 hours from just outside Ormoc City especially to visit this place. It was a waste of time and money, better off jumping on the Supercat Ferry to go to Cebu, and visit the Mactan Island resorts.

Room Tip: 'Diver' rooms are in the car park area, so not a good choice, as can be quite noisy.

Went there with the whole family (parents, siblings, nieces, nephews) last May for my brothers birthday...lovely little resort in the south of Leyte. Well manicured lawn, luxurious little native huts, an infinity pool facing the sea, an adequate restaurant...

Dont expect white sand at the beach, its more of black stones and pebbles...

The huts were fully booked so the family stayed in the dorm style room with an adjoining 4 bed room...there were sturdy adequate sized double deck beds with surprisingly good cushions...2 baths and toilets and a locker room with enough space for everyone's baggage...

Strong a/c's, no cable but there's a tv and dvd player, dvd's can be borrowed from the front desk...

Great staff, good food, an enjoyable stay all in all...

PS. just make sure there's no event or group check-in if you want a peaceful and tranquil stay, but its great for a family weekend...

I had my mom and my sister's birthday celebration held @ Kuting Reef resort, nicely done we were very pleased, the staff are wonderful and very accommodating, food at the party was okey breakfast was good though. The room that i stayed for the night wasn't great the bathroom window was open and without the screen many mosquitoes came inside our room, and the resort also is far away from everything you have to have your own transportation. The whole family had a great time though!
