“An important piece of Irish history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

The Carn cross is really well preserved and well kept. The markings are really clear and it's fascinating to think of the history around this cross, believed to be one of the earliest high crosses in Ireland. I had remembered it from art class in school, but it's astounding the great condition is it's in since its creation in the 7th century. I would say there is little built today that would last that test of time. An important piece of Irish history, well worth a visit.

A well preserved piece of ancient history. The markings are very clear and I recommend the graveyard in the background for more antiquities

“Early Christian Remains in Inishowen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

On the main road in Carndonagh, Donegal, you will find St. Patrick's High Cross, or St. Donagh's Cross, as it is also known. Carn is approx 12 miles north of Buncrana, on the way to Malin Head, the most northerly part of Ireland.

The Cross, which is thought to date from the 7th century, is located on the grounds of a church founded by St. Patrick. It is considered one of the most important early christian remains in all of Britian and Ireland.
