“Best Little Chef for miles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

15 years ago I used to visit Cambridge regularly passing nine Little Chef's on my route. This used to be the worst by far. There are now only four on the same route but this one is much the best since its makeover in 2011.

The staff are friendly and very efficient, the service is rapid and the breakfasts are nicely cooked and presented. I've only ever had the breakfasts so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. The lattes are instant so I'd recommend the cafetiere of coffee instead.

The restaurant is located just off the Black Cat roundabout where the A421 meets the A1. There's a Travelodge and petrol station on the same site plus a large car park. The toilets are better than the average motorway service station.

“Greatly improved food & decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

Our first visit to a revamped Little Chef, after 40+ years of calling in at the originals. Very pleasantly surprised with the new menu and quality of the food. Braised Ox Cheeks, Scampi and Rhubarb Crumble were all excellent, complimented by the Taylor's tea selection.
Very good value for much improved and interesting food. We liked the new decor too, sky ceiling tiles, 'ironic'? background music and birdsong in the loos were all nice touches.
Only let down by the staff's rather minimal approach to customer relations, service was quick and efficient but lacked any joie de vivre, come on folks - smile a bit please....
