“Undeservedly empty!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We've been here twice now, once for the full Sunday experience and yesterday for an impromptu lunch. On both occasions the food has been excellent and the service likewise. Yesterday we were the only people there! I simply can't get my head around this at all. The restaurant is in a great location and all of the menu items are very reasonably priced. The standard lunch menu is paninis and tapas, with a much more extensive evening menu.

I suppose that there has been little marketing for this place and it's having to rely on word of mouth and repeat custom. So, go once and I'm sure that you'll want to go again - you'll also want to tell your friends. It would be a shame if a place that has tried a different formula, focusing on quality and having its own identity, were to go to the wall because of a lack of custom.

We will go back again; we would encourage you to support this local business and enjoy the experience at the same time!

Thank you very much for your support and do not worry about the lack of custom when you were here.A winery with a restaurant is a relatively new concept in England, and though the location is beautiful it is off the beaten track, so it takes time to get known. Despite that we are building a following and bookings for parties in the festive season are high, probably because it is such a nice destination.
Kind regards,
Adrian Derx

“Delightful evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

We had a very pleasant evening. Staff were welcoming, friendly, polite and helpful. The menu was different with some interesting dishes and lots of lovely flavours making you want to return to try something else. Having tried the restaurant and seen the Christmas menues we hope to return for a Christmas party.

Sorry for the delay in responding and thank you for a lovely review. The individuality of many of the dishes comes from Angelo who believes that we should offer people what they cannot find anywhere else. His background as a chef in Spain,Italy and London allows us to do this well and I am glad that you liked it.
Kind regards,

“Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We had hoped to eat in Mevagissey on Sunday night but our choice of restaurants were closed so we called in to book a table on our way back from the Eden Project. It's well signed on the A391 between the Eden Project and St Austell. We were one of only two couples eating there on a very wet night at the end of the tourist season and the food was plentiful and delicious. I had mackerel with sun-dried tomatoes, followed by roast belly pork. The fresh mackerel was perfectly cooked and I've never had such a huge cube of belly pork before with proper crackling. The Italian chef's tiramisu was beautiful to look at as well as to eat. The service was friendly and faultless. This meal rates as the best that we had while staying in the area.

“do they know the concept of good customer service?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

this was a trip that I was really looking forward to. I have been to vineyards before for winemakers' tours and found them useful and interesting. what a shame then this vineyard cant seem to be bothered about their customers. I had arranged to go on the tour by email and that seemed to be the end of the ease of it. the signage to the venue was clear but on site it was lousy... difficult see where we should park and where the shop was. we had arrived 30 minutes early - how dare we? the gentleman that came to the entrance clearly had difficulty with English as he did not know what we were trying to say. he went to talk to someone else in the other building and when he came back he muttered something about "4 o'clock" - I explained that, yes, we were early but as they are a cafe, could we have a drink whilst we waited? I ordered a pot of tea - which he did seem to comprehend, but the cider order was a different matter... we ended up with beer! The tea was luke warm and the pot was only half full - is water really that expensive that they couldn't have filled the pot? whilst waiting for the tour to begin, two members of staff walked past us and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge our presence, which we found downright rude considering we were clearly customers. it was at this point we felt as though we were getting in the way of the staff and would we really be treated any better than this on the tour? we decided that we did not wish to find out, so paid for our drinks and left. What we really found odd was the lack of desire to engage us in the wine they had produced - where were the wine details inside the shop? The staff need training in customer service and how to appreciate the paying guest. Definitely worth a miss until they smarten up their attitude.
