“Great campsite, shame about the surrounding area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

This is a beautiful campsite set in the grounds of a large chateau. Excellent swimming pools. There are lots of wonderful cycling routes in the grounds. The bar was a bit disapointing - limited number of beers on tap and no caraffes of wine :-(

There is a great supermarket in St Julien, however we didn't find a huge amount to do in the surrounding area. It didn't help the weather was very inclement.

The keycamp couriers were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them - thank you.

A fantastic site that provides you with a fantastic family holiday. This year (August 2012) was our 3rd year here and it just continues to never let us down. We booked with Europarcs for the first 2 years and then this year booked with the site directly. Europarcs I would still highly recommend. Their vans are spotless and well designed but booking directly gives you a little more choice of vans nad pitches and slightly larger and better equipped vans at marginally higher cost. It's all down to personal preference. However, try these two ways of booking before you go for Eurocamo, Keycamp or Canvas as it could save you quite a bit.
The site is spotless, well run, fantastic facilities and in my view has something for everyone. It's in a beautiful setting that relaxes you from the moment you arrive with only a 15min drive to some wonderful beaches.
We are in the process of re-booking for next year after asking our 2 children (boy 7 & girl 4) would you like a holiday to somewhere else in Europe or even trip to Florida and both asked to go back to here. Speaks volumes to me! Roll on 2013!

Room Tip: Look at booking directly with the site or through Europarcs before you look at Eurocamp, Keycamp and...

Initially I was very sceptical about a mobile home holiday on a large campsite but my fears couldn't have been further from the truth. We travelled to La Garangeoire, a five star campsite that was very spacious and beautifully laid out with avenues of trees and fantastically run. We went with our two girls, aged 9 and 6, and stayed in a mobile home booked through Europarcs. Our contact at Europarcs, Sarah, couldn't have been more helpful and obliging. On arrival we were greeted by our Rep who showed us to our home for the week and explained the layout of the campsite. . There was so much to do at the site from horseriding, go-karting, table tennis, outdoor gym, football pitch, pedloes on the lake as well as the three large pools. These did get busy at times but if you planned it right there was enough space for everyone. There was family entertainment every evening from making your own pancakes, human table football, quizes to bands/discos. We had a thorougly enjoyable week with never a dull moment only made better by fabulous weather that I hadn't seen for a long time in England. Well worth a trip.

This is a truly superb campsite, and very reasonably priced. It’s handy for the Vendée coast (say 15 miles), whilst enjoyed the tranquillity of a rural setting . Our pitch (Mer de Chine) was level, about twice the size of what most campsites provide, with lovely open views, water and waste connection.

It’s a very well managed site with lots of activities and amenities. The reception staff were particularly welcoming. The owner, Anne de Kertautem Bourgon, is fiercely proud of the site which her grandparents founded, of her family history and of her Vendée roots. Her weekly walking tour of the grounds is a delight.

Unfirtunately, the Internet connection is not very clever, but you can’t blame the site for that – it’s a function of being at the end of the line in a rural area. And Wi-Fi charges are steep, but they probably have to be – if too many people wanted to use the connection, no-one would get anything. But we are spoiled these days – so many French sites provide site-wide Wi-Fi included in the charges. Other than that, an absolutely perfect site.

This camp site is highly recommended for families with children of all ages. There is a great pool complex with 3 watersides and a paddling pool with a small slide as well as a toddler water area.
The camp site is well laid out and there is the feeling of space as it sits on large grounds. The reception is very helpful. The on-site shop is well equipped. Bar/restaurant busy but fairly efficient. Shower blocks clean and have adjustable temperature showers!! Kids club and evening entertainment. The children have a large enclosed play area with bouncy castle open every evening so mum and dad can have a relaxing drink. Beaches about 20 mins away. A good choice of sandy and rocky beaches. Great Sunday morning market in Bretignolles sur mer. We love this part of the vendee and wound return to the camp site as well.

We have stayed at La Garangeoire twice. The most recent time was this summer (July, 2012).

Both times we have had a great time. Our 6 year old boy loved it. The playground, table tennis, mini golf and lake were favourites.

We also enjoyed going to the pool though this was busy.

We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, Though I agree with others saying the service is slow.

We also spent some fun evening in the bar and our son made lots of friends.

We were helped by the face that we had fantastic weather

I would say though that we were in a mobile home (Eurocamp) and the fact that we had such a good time was in no small part helped by the location of our caravan by the big green field. This meant our son had the freedom to run and play and we could watch him. With Eurocamp these pitches cant be pre-booked which would put me off going back

Something for everyone here. Kids clubs were good, well organised. Notices arrived at the door about planned activities. Staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Good fun atmosphere. Beautifully maintained campsite, mobile homes immaculate. Went through keycamp and would definitely go again. Our kids were 21/2 5 and 8 and they loved it. Recommend booking horse riding before you go as booked up very quickly. No complaints at all!
