“Great weekend getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013 via mobile

This is a fabulous venue for a private and peaceful escape. We enjoyed having the entire space to ourselves and our son and daughter in law. The staff took great care of us, the service was good but not fussy......and there was lots to see and do in between relaxing on the deck with marvellous views or chilling with a glass of red around the open fire. Exceptional main bedroom with panoramic views of the bush. Would highly recommend you go!!

Our 3 night stay at Zulu Waters was not long enough! plenty to do and see and so well looked after by a very professional and friendly staff who were local enthusiastic people with a genuine love of the place and it's wilderness.
We stayed in the self-catering cottage Nandi which was ideal for 2 couples ( or a family of 4) and we enjoyed the views and independence from the deck where we braai-ed every night.
The activities on the estate ( game walks/ drives; fly fishing etc.) were great as one had a feeling of privacy & exclusivity as there weren't loads of people and although close to a town one felt 100 miles away in the hills of the Midlands looking onto beautiful mountain scenery over rolling grasslands.
Our host and hostess were moist welcoming and happy to assist us with arranging activities. Blair Tours will definitely revisit Zulul Waters in the future.

Room Tip: only criticism is rooms are separated by thin partition stud wall, so a family is fine but for 2 cou...

Zuluwaters is always a great place to getaway to and take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. My family and I enjoy the professionalism of the staff at Zuluwater, the great food, flyfishing and game drives make it one of our favourite holiday destinations

Room Tip: Take the room with the private chef, you will never regret it.

Lake Cottage is the epitome of seclusion and luxury. We were amazed at the amount of game visible from our cow hide couches on the front porch, private guide fishing trips were well worth the early mornings and chocolate Easter eggs were a tasteful surprise found in all corners of our cottage. It was a beautiful experience and a definite return is on the cards.

A simply amazing experience from the moment you arrive at the gates of the 7000 hectare estate which is located 12km from the tar road. We stayed in Shaka lodge - the architect and interior designer have combined to create a beautiful lodge overlooking the Bushmans river and the surrounding hills The master bedroom is incredibly spacious, with a wrap around balcony to take in the views.

The service is incredibly attentive and the atmosphere wonderfully relaxed. Breakfast included home made muffins, venison sausages, home cured bacon and a special muesli recipe. The culinary feasts continued with trout and ostrich for dinner and some amazing desserts. The presentation and quality of the food was exceptional and the chef was more than happy to hand over his master secrets in the ways of recipes

Outdoor activities included game walks, game drives, horse rides of the reserve's Appoloosa (we had very little horse riding experience), fly fishing in lakes on the property or the Bushman's river and one of the lifetime trips like a helicopter ride to White mountain for a picnic on the plateau and a glimpse of the cape vultures catching the thermals ! Off the estate we headed to Giants castle nature reserve and did a beautiful 14km hike to Worlds View !

There is a library full of interesting books, a good wine list and an honesty bar....so so so relaxing !

We will be back

We stayed at the Lake Cottage.

What an extraordinary experience.
The solitude was simply awesome, it allowed us to completely relax.
What made this so super special was that we were the only people we saw (apart from our guide) for the entire weekend.
The game drive was spectacular!

Thank you.

Everything about this place is excellent, the food, the location, the services the activities excellent, excellent, excellent! The main house and the staff make you feel like home, almost like it's you own. Compliments to the personal chef Mbongiseni and to the rest of the team.
The only drawback is that the chef cooks the best tasting meals but did not provide ladies portions for those with smaller stomachs.

Room Tip: Go as a couple or as a family... you will love it.
