“Amazing and relaxing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

We booked one of the cheaper room and stayed four nights. There are villas and other rooms that costs $hundreds and $thousands so if you say you are going to Puri Mas to the taxi drivers you can get ripped off.

Our room was two storey, the bottom level is the bathroom and the bedroom is at the top. The stairs are winding and small so not recommended for the older and larger folks. It was room No. 4. The room itself was very small and had no TV although Agoda said it does and there is really no room to spread your luggage out. There was an unpleasant stain from the roof leakage on the white sheet over the heaven bed.

We paid about $90 a night with breakfast. Our room wasn't very comfortable but the resort is excellent. You feel right as ease as soon as you arrive. It is very clean. The towels smell so nice and the staff all say hello to you and are so sweet. Even the GM said hello to us and she was so sweet.

The pool, garden, breakfast and spa were all excellent.

We made a mistake of leaving this place to go to Gili Trawagan and stayed at Bale Sampan (reviewed this too) thinking a little island would be even more relaxing but Gili T is packed full of tourists and Touts who are after toutists and scam them.

We came back and stayed at Puri Mas after Gili Trawagan again for one night decided on the next level up for the room, the Quirky Garden room but again we think we got the worse room out of this segment. Room 18 itself is very nice and spacious but the staff/public toilet is 2 metres next to your front door. The other rooms have a nice outdoor sitting room at the front leading to the bedroom. To get to ours we have to walk pass the toilet. Our outdoor sitting room is inside so private at least.

The cafe staff is really nice but there was some confusion with the fruit juice I ordered where I got charged 25,000 Rupiah for an OJ and it was shown on the men as 15,000 rupiah. This happened on our 2nd day. The 1st day it was 15,000 rupiah as per the menu. I asked three wait staff about this and one said because the prices for oranges were higher. I said that's fine but why show a different price on the Menu was my point! I was expecting a very quick refund but this was not so and I felt rather awkward having to even question my hill. Then the next day we ordered an OJ again and it was 22,000 rupiah. The waiter mentioned it was a new Menu. We felt a bit annoyed at another price change. It is small in terms of money but it not very professional. Then late on the 3rd day we got told our previous bill has been changed to the amount shown as per the menu but with no apologu and it was a bit late.

Anyway I hope the hotel read this and take all our feedback good and bad.

All food and drinks have 11% Government Tax and 10% Service Tax but apparently not all staff (especially the wait staff) get a share of this. Always question your Bill! So we tipped a bit extra to the waiters/waitresses who went out of their ways for us.

Overall we really loved our stay here.

Room Tip: Not rooms 4 and 18.

Puri Mas is such a lovely place, the atmosphere simply doesn't pass on to its photographs!
The entire property is done up in traditional Indonesian style.. wood work, greenery, pink, yellow, white frangipani all over the place, and interesting stone statues. The beach is clean and beautiful.
We booked a queen ocean view room; it had lovely wooden furniture, with a day bed with lots of cushions in the sit-out area. The bathroom was semi open-air, and the shower was amusing.
The restaurant is very nice. I am a vegetarian, and its not been easy to find TASTY vegetarian meals in the 2 years i have lived in Indonesia. but at Puri Mas, I enjoyed every meal we had, including the Traditional Romantic Dinner at the Garden Pavilion.
Their Spa is at the garden resort, 5 mins drive from the beach resort... and has several birds in cages spread across the property. The massage was lovely, felt even better amidst the sounds of birds chirping in the rain.
During our stay, the AC of our room failed. They were unable to fix it, and offered us a free room upgrade within 30 minutes, even though we were happily relaxing on the beach, and in no hurry for it to be fixed. The open air Jacuzzi in the private studio was something we will remember for a long longgg time.
The rooms, the staff, the atmosphere, the pool, the drinks, the spa every thing is great. if only, I would recommend them to reconsider their buffet breakfast- its nice, but just average, unlike the rest of the hotel.

We had booked for 3 nights in a twin room. Firstly the room we got was right near the road and as it had a traditional thatched roof it had no insulation from the road noise. The bathroom was unclean and old. When I spoke to the reception they said they had no other rooms. We ran into the General Manager as we walked around the property which I must say was very tied and lacked any attention. In talking with the GM we expressed our disappointment about the noise and she said she lived at the spa resort. We asked about availability of a quieter room there and her reply was " we'll it's traffic here or roosters at the other". That night we found the restaurant had good food and service was good.
That night in bed I was bitten all over and had big welts all over me and found what looked like lice climbing on me in the morning. We check out!!!

Highly recommend this boutique resort. Wonderful rooms, comfortable bed, not a stone unturned.
Would suggest for animal lovers really friendly dogs and small animal sanctuary at spa. The staff friendly +++++++.that smile from the heart and cannot do enough for you. The manager Sarah makes an effort to meet you personally making you feel like a welcomed guest/friend and not a number. The beach is safe and clean and good to swim in.
A very quiet resort, wonderful no child under 12 policy. Another benifit, if you have a late check out and you room is needed they wil put you in another room (an added bonus) at no extra charge. Would stay again and highy recommend to others.

We stayed at the resort on Mangsit Beach - and it's a wonderful place to stay. It is what is says - a small boutique hotel but it comes with lovely gardens, a smallish but enchanting pool area, great rooms and very friendly and efficient staff.
The one drawback is that the immediate beach in front of the hotel is not fantastic but having said that, it is one of the best places which we have stayed in - anywhere in 40 years of travel.
We visited the Spa location which is nearby - a unique facility in a calm and idyllic location but just too quiet for us. But this is also superb in every way.

Room Tip: Spa is quiet. The reosrt is in our view the best - we had a garden room; great value for money

This resort is gorgeous. We stayed in a spa studio. Which has a spa outside and a spa bath in the bathroom. The accommodation is amazing. The food is beautiful and really well priced. All the staff are very friendly, and the owner will come and have a chat with you when he is at the resort. It is a very welcoming resort. We would go back for sure.

Room Tip: Treat yourself and go to the spa resort for a treatment, if you are lucky you will get a tour with t...
