“Mixed experience!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014 via mobile

I booked our stay direct with the hotel via email in August, 5 months before out trip for the online price of $210 US for a 2 bedroom apartment.
We travelled from WA via Jetstar on their new direct flight to Praya international airport with our 2 boys aged 3 and 4 1/2 years.
Heaps of great things about this hotel but unfortunately also not so great.

Starting with the greats; a fantastic pool for all ages including an enormous paddling depth pool ideal for our kids. part of the pool was located next to the KA restaurant where you have your daily buffet breakfast. Perfect for our boys who would scoff down some yummy pastries, pineapple juice and then jump in the pool, while we then sat and watched eating our b.fast in peace!
Food was good, but do venture out and try the restaurants in Sengiggi and Alberto's on the beach. As taxi to Sengiggi will cost about $1, you could walk but the trip would be sweaty and dicey with the traffic.

The grounds are enormous and beautiful on the edge of the beach but buffered by hedging, you can see Bali in the distance on a clear day. hawkers do hang around on the steps, avoid buying anything on your first day, check out the going prices for things then bargain so you pay a good price.

Our apartment was across the road from the main hotel and like other reviewers have mentioned it is an easy walking distance and the guards will stop the traffic to assist your crossing, the traffic can come in spurts of busyness so it is not an overkill to have yourself escorted across the road!

Rm 621 was a great spot, quiet with a gorgeous view of the rainforest and mountain, ponies right outside our room, roosters and chickens too. The call to prayer did wake us up each morning, once at 430 am, so do take earplugs.
The not so greats; Our apartment was needing quite a lot of maintenance, which was disappointing for the price we paid. A Noisy and dripping air con in all the rooms, none of which had a thermostat which worked and seemed to be set at freezing cold.
Fridge and freezer compartment did not work properly to keep items cold or frozen in the chiller.
Broken bed leg which was notified to admin on day 1 but was never repaired or replaced.
Water stains to the roofing of both bedrooms, which enlarged while there was a day long downpour.
Shower heads in both bathrooms were fixed at an angle where you would have to sit on the faucet to have a shower! Both were heavily coated in calcification.
there were 2 lamps which could not be used as they kept shortening out

Wooden hand railing had a rotten section where ere was exposed nails and splinters.
There is no DVD in the apartment, which would be a standard feature in hotels of a similar standard, instead you can hire one for $5 per day.
Laundry is available at quite a cost, but just down the road towards Sengiggi on the left is an independent laundry service available for a fraction of the price! there is also a small shop with beer, snacks, drinks and a little restaurant with Indonesian favourites, all at local prices and not the hyper inflated ones of the hotel.

Our kids used the kids club once for 1 1/2 hours while we had a massage, they seemed happy enough but it seemed to cater more for the infant, toddler aged child, not a lot of activities for our aged boys. There are also pony rides available.

Overall, it was a good hotel that needs to improve on their poor level of Maintenance, not only is it a safety issue but comfort for the paying client.

This resort is quite place with friendly staff and security. Delicious breakfast buffet. Clean room with 24 hours room service, I offered the Soup Iga with rice at 11.00PM.. I sleep on the upstairs room in the backyard facing the mainstreet, once I sleep in the bungalow room which is a private room with bathtub filled petals may be for honeymooners.
The bungalow has a mosquito net, sofa, ac, big TV, and fridge. The ned is quite nice to sleep, I slept well on the bed.. My bungalow is facing through the Mangsit beach. It's just 5 steps away like this resort own its beach.. You can hear the waves in your room, woowww so romantic. At that time, I thought to take my honeymoon in this resort.

When I went to this resort, it was building some new resorts on the opposite of the resort facing the street and the greenfield, and it has a horse barn.

Oh ya, this resort has beautiful swimming pool with bar.

Since, it's quite far from any other attractions, so you have to rent a car. Once, I had a dinner on the sands near the beach in one of restaurant in Lombok city.

If I go travelling to Lombok again, I'll be back to Holiday Resort Lombok.

Room Tip: Bungalow room with bathtub facing the Mangsit beach is good for honeymoon.

We stayed at the resort for our 15th wedding anniversary wow from the moment we got to the resort we were impressed. We got a nice welcoming drink and a beautiful frangapani lei on arrival. Then the porter took us to our room and on the bed they had put in flowers ''HAPPY HONEYMOON'' how sweet. We really liked our room was spacious clean and really welcoming. We enjoyed the breakfast although hubby did miss having bacon with his eggs but over all the breaky was good something for everyone. The pool area was lovely very quiet which was what we were after. The Lumpia [spring rolls] at the pool were yummy. Was the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. We found the staff all very nice and helpful English is not there first language but we managed to communicate with them even had a few laughs. Overall we will be back we cant thank Holiday Resort and its staff enough for helping us celebrate our 2nd Hoeymoon

For a 4 star hotel, the service was the worst! i do not expect it from a resort especially in lombok where most people give a free genuine smile everywhere. However the room was big, tv has variety of channels, tea and coffee maker available, open air toilet with great hot shower. the garden is well kept..food was ok, there is no outstanding menu though! breakfast was average, again no friendly service whatsoever.. the hotel located quite far from the happening senggigi, it is a quiet hotel with a very good facility, even the sunset was amazing! but we wont return till they do something with the service.. it makes all the grand facility wasted!

Room Tip: garden chalet was a big room. it comes with a connected room too so family are welcome.

This was such an an amazing stay!

The grounds were sprawling with beautifully kept gardens. The resort meets the ocean for a good acre or two. The pool area is large and serene and our room was modern, clean and the washroom was partially outdoors with a rock garden - so beautifully done. (Covered adequately for privacy and to keep bugs out)

Restaurants served consistently good food. Everything we ordered was awesome. Breakfast buffet had 3 big tables of food of every kind which was included in the stay. Really pleased with the selection.

Staff were very friendly and gracious. Always very helpful, although the lack of English occasionally made it challenging. (Although many spoke excellent English).

The person who wrote the review on Sept 27 is obviously a self-entitled jerk who expects staff to act as their servants. Everyone here was lovely.

Location is Nice , beach front , big pool , though many green spots , needs serious cleaning ! Rooms are OK for the price you pay , not particular WOW, size and comfort good enough ! Wat bothered me the most here and what will not make me come back to this "resort" is the poor service !
Example : I was at the pool , and asked a waiter friendly for a towel with him lookin angry telling me to go the towel counter and get it myself which obviously I'm not going to do since I'm all wet ! Crazy ! Another thing ... At the breakfast there are about 8 people looking around , doing nothing apart from staring at you and make you feel bad , when asking to being you a tea or omelette it's seems all sell service ... So why is there 8 people working ? Half of them looking angry... Only 1 helpful staff member was simiati !
Food is very bad , nothing high end , very basic and poor ( western standard ) . After 10 minutes i went to get my tea , then a minute after came back to my table , and there were 2 people sitting at my table ... This only shows how inconpetent the staff are , lacking instinct ... 8 people seeing nothing and doing nothing !I would strongly suggest to put the PITA bread off the menu ... It's the worst pita combination I have ever ever had in my life , still feel sick about It ( took only 1 bite ) ofcourse I had to pay for it .....
Gotta change the attitude , people are becoming more critic there are too many options In the neighborhood !
