“Fab family holday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Our family of three stayed in a medievil pavillion for four night 18-21 Sept. The tent iself was well stocked with everything you might need for a self catering stay including a lovely wood burning stove which kept us warm as well as cooking our food. Electric sockets in every "room" ensured that we could keep our three year old entertained in the evening with dvd's.
We went off peak which was considerably cheaper. Other reviewers have bemoaned the lack of evening entertainment but it was stated online when we booked that the eateries and entertainment would not be available so we did prepare for this. Our tent was close to the toilet/shower block which was clean and checked regularly. The underfloor heating in them was a bonus on cold mornings! The family bathroom was a nice touch as we could all get ready together. A play park was also close by.
Wood and camping supplies were available in the shop at reception, it was staffed by a very friendly Matt who also ensured we received instruction on the wood stove. Swipe cards were supplied to get us into the park which meant that there was no need to walk up to the main park entrance.
Going off peak meant that the park was fairly quiet, the rides we avoided on our summer daytrip were easy to get on. Early mornings were taken care of by the Pony Experience, just a walk with your allocated pony for an hour in the morning followed by grooming so not a bind at all. Our daughter really enjoyed this and couldn't wait to tell all her friends on our return.
Overall we thought the tent was awesome, the facilities modern and well maintained and the staff really friendly. The park itself wouldnt really be suitable for children over ten but as ours is only three we have a few years yet! Having said that the campsite is an excellent base for local attractions, or even not so local (we did a daytrip to Longleat) We would definately book again.

Room Tip: We stayed in "The Yeoman" which was close to the facilites, however in peak season I imagi...

Stayed in a Safari Tent over the weekend with our family and it was great, the kids loved it. Lovely showers and toilet areas, with the added bonus of family bathrooms. All the facilities were always immaculate and we want to say a big thanks to Allan & Marcia the Wardens who seem to be constantly keeping everything up to 5* standard and was very approachable and friendly.

We would also like to thank Matt who was very helpful and friendly to us upon our arrival and throughout our stay, he must of got fed up with us asking questions all the time but he certainly did not show it.

All in all it was a great stay with helpful staff as mentioned above. The kids loved the Adventure Park and came back shattered, they certainly slept well at night, which gave us some peace and quiet and time to ourselves. Although it would have been nice for other parents to keep more control over their children, ie running in and out of the showers and toilet areas. It was also great that the adventure park tickets were included in the price, if not it would have worked out to be a very expensive holiday.

We would loved to have seen a swimming pool as we feel this would just add to the pleasure and somewhere onsite to get something to eat if we don't feel like cooking - maybe next year? Also it would have been nice to have a BBQ area outside of the tent as we brought the small portable ones but there was really nowhere to put them, we either had the grass or the decking so in the end we turned a bucket upside down and put them on that.

We would definitely go back to Crealy, again a big thank you to Matt, Allan & Marcia and hope they make some small improvements for next year.

My newly wed husband and I stayed here for a few nights relaxation after our nuptuals. We had checked that it was couple friendly prior. The initial contact with Matt was superb, very chatty with the booking and upon arrival they even gave us a bottle of bubbly which was a lovely touch. The toilets were immaculate at all times, we loved the family bathrooms, nice to have a bath available if you need it. There were only a couple of other families staying at the same time as us. We enjoyed popping over to Crealy park to see the animals for a short time each day.
We have worked across Europe on campsites and felt there were a few little things that could have been better. The first is that the pitches are rather close. There was little space to the sides of the safari tent to enjoy the evening sun, and you felt you were intruding on the neighbours. The biggest disappointment though was the quality of the mattresses in the safari tent, there was so much thought and planning to the design and equipment that the mattress let it down. That said for families I would highly recommend this, we loved running water in the tents. After our initial contact with Matt the interaction with the staff was limited, instigated by ourselves and we wished they had been a little more enthusiastic. I think the shop would benefit from a wider range of produce, with so many great farmshops on the same road they will lose business in this area, also there was no information on the surrounding area which seemed a shame although this was overcome by the wifi that was available!
Great time, just missing that extra spark for us. Would definately recommend for families and new campers though.

This holiday was fantastic. I had visited the theme park a couple of years before with my two young neices and they enjoyed it then, so when my sister said she had booked a Medieval Tent for 7 of us, I wasn't sure what to expect. All three kids and adults were chuffed to little mint balls with the tent. AMAZING!! It was so big and roomy and had everything you could want including ample crockery, pots and pans and a never ending supply of very hot water!! Being an ardent camper, I was very pleased to see superb toilet and shower blocks which also boasted a family bathroom as well which was a god send with children. It was also nice to see how clean they were kept throughout the day and we did have some damp days during our stay, but the toilets were kept immaculate 5* any day! They also have a laundry room, ideal to dry off any damp clothing. The real beds and log burner just added to the comfort. I've definitely been spoilt now!

All the staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They have a small shop which has the basics to keep you going. The Wardens also made sure that anything out of place was soon sorted.

For those camping, the site is a nice sizeand not too big , with reasonably flat pitches the only draw back I could see was the pot washing facilities. They could maybe do with being under cover and possibly a couple more sinks as the site was busy over Bank Holiday.

This is one holiday that we have certainly recommended to parents with younger children. The passes to the Theme park were invaluable throughout the week and Crealy is within easy reach of many fabulous attractions in Devon and if you are a keen walker, you'll be spoilt. Keep up the good work. We would definitely come back.

We arrived on the Friday evening and was greeted by Lyndsy and Craig who were really helpful and helped us settle in quickly.
The tent was extremely spacious and our two children loved the African theme. We all particular liked the entertainment in Creally Park during the evenings and sitting by the log fuel range in the tent.
We would recommend this to anyone who wants a fun packed family holiday with a difference, and would like to thank Craig, Lyndsy and the Creally Meadows team for such a lovely stay.

Stayed here The same weekend last year when it was just a field with a terrapin for a toilet block!
Absolutely amazing! Beautiful and well laid out! 5* facilities and the most amazing team running it!
We stayed on a massive fully serviced pitch with its own hook up, water and drain.
The toilet facilities are amazing done at a very high standard! I sent my partner a photo of our son in the bath his reply 'thought you were camping? That's a 5* bathroom!' lol There are 2 toilet blocks on the site, with ladies and men's, 2 family bathrooms, with baths and showers and mummy and baby toilets! The staff were cleaning them every hour, just a shame people see fit to make such a mess when they use them :(
They also provide a laundry facilty with a freezer for guests to use!
We asked a member of staff for a tour of the safari tents and they are amazing inside, a proper home from home!
All the staff are helpful and smiley, the shop didn't stock ice cubes, and the lady who worked there tottered over the field to us in skirt and heels with a tray of ice from there fridge! (thankyou!!) people just wouldn't go to that effort anywhere else!
Also got to give a massive thankyou to 'ALLEN' the warden for being my knight in shining armour! The kids killed the battery on the car, so off he went on his golf cart and came back with his own car and gave us a jump start! Thanks Allen! I've been keeping an eye out for you on the roads ;)
Allen and Marcia are the wardens and along with the rest of the team dont seem to stop! The meadow is spotless! Marcia was even out with her jet wash cleaning the path ways (which to be fair already seemed spotless!)
Can't sing praises high enough for the meadows or the staff! Absolutely 5*!
Thankyou for an amazing stay! See you next year!!

We stayed in Crealy over the Bank Holiday weekend in August. We were pirched on a super pitch at the top of the site which cost a little more but was worth it for the hardstanding for the car alone.
The second block of showers had opened since our last visit and it was good to see that they had put hooks, benches and shelves in which kept clothes etc dry while you showered. The toilets and bathrooms, while still excellent in terms of camping facilities, didn't seem to be quite as clean as on the previous visit. While I am sure that they were cleaned, the cleaning chart didn't seem to be signed and they just seemed a little less tidy (although I appreciate that people should actually be able to pick up their own toilet paper etc if they drop it!) Saying that, it is a campsite, not a 5 star hotel and some mud and bits are only to be expected.
There was some quite torrential rain while we were there and some of the pitches at the bottom of the site were quite boggy.
Once again, we went into Crealy most days although, having paid for a family pass for the time that we were there (school holidays), it was a little galling when the direct access gate was open over the weekend and people were openly boasting that they hadn't paid, with one family calling us "mugs" for having done so. I hope that the gate is sorted now as they are losing money there.
We will certainly go back to Crealy though as it is so well placed for everything that the area has to offer.

Room Tip: Avoid the bottom pitches if the weather is poor
