“Yoga and surfing paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We recently returned to Encanta La Vida for the second year in a row for yoga and surfing in paradise. Most importantly, the staff at Encanta are amazing. From that fact, everything follows... The rooms are nice and very well kept, the meals and drinks were amazing, the yoga deck is spectacular and you can coordinate all sorts of great activities through the Encanta staff. The location is truly magical. Multiple surf spots with great waves in the middle of the most beautiful rain forest. We travel a lot and this is on the top of our list.

Room Tip: Just ask to look at the room to make sure you will be comfortable. They have various rooms so if on...

If you need some inner peace and a complete detachment from the outside world – this place is for you. If you need a physically active and challenging vacation – this place is also for you. I have found it to be a perfect combination.

The beauty of Encanta La Vida is its remote location in the South of the country. Northern part is much more touristic and it’s a completely different feel.

You can go on a 3 hr horseback riding trip with a local guide and see the best views of Costa Rica. It includes riding high up the hills, then climbing down to see a hidden waterfall, riding through the cattle fields and the forest, stopping by a farm to have some fresh fruit, and then riding along the beach.

If you like hiking and staying fit, there are several hikes around Encanta that are not advertised and are known only to locals – hidden jewels… Great exercise, breathtaking views and nature…

Also you can take a tour through the jungle with a local biologist and get to see a lot of animal life and get some interesting facts along the way. Osa Peninsula is known for a rich animal life and you can see more animal diversity there than in the rest of the country. As part of the tour, you can climb an amazing tall tree with a harness and jump…. It was worth it. Finally, I got a Tarzan side of me out.

The resort itself is great – there is such a home feel to it. Community dinners are practiced at Encanta. It’s fun to watch how some people are not quite comfortable with this idea in the very beginning, but then you start seeing people pulling together and sharing also other meals. How else a family from Minnesota can meet surfer guys from California, and people travelling from different parts of Europe and the world. It is a great opportunity to meet and share experiences. Not to mention that meals are amazing and healthy at the same time.
Friendly locals touch your heart with their genuine hospitality and simplicity of life.

What vacation is complete without a massage?! There’s a wonderful specialist at Encanta La Vida – Kate. She is truly magical. A massage is a must!

I could go on and on. The best vacation I’ve had.
PURA VIDA AT ITS BEST!!!

Great rooms, excellent food and fantastic people always bring me back to Encanta.
It's one of the few places in Matapalo that offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can arrive, surf and not think about cooking....:)
I love the new yoga platform and classes being offered, and the proximity to my favorite surf spot Pan Dulce, which makes it my perfect hotel to stay at while in the Osa.

We had a great stay at the Encanta. Yoga in the morning on their Yoga deck was a truly special experience. You can hear the peaceful sounds of the ocean while looking at
Pan Dulce bay. It’s the perfecting setting to relax; put your mind at ease and stretch your body and soul.

Our room was great. We stayed in the Honey Moon Cabina. The space really feels apart of nature. We went hiking through the rainforest to a couple of great waterfalls. Went horse back riding and of course swimming in the Ocean. Make sure to stop by Marina's on Friday night and get some of Becca's Hot sauce or the home made ice cream, which is delicious. The Tuna there was the best we've ever had.

We also got a great massage from the ELV masseuse, which felt great after our horse back riding. The resort truly sits in the rain forest, the local monkeys stopped by several times during our visit. It was pretty amazing to be so close them.

Our trip to the OSA was pretty special and Encanta La Vida played a big part in it.

Beautiful! Be ready to rough it a little... No A/C but the area in May was bare-able at night. Rainy season is for real. Anticipate that. Didn't take away from the beauty in any way. Just felt excited to "dry up" after a week. Shower towels didn't even dry during the day. Keeping their "off the grid" "enviro" trend going, it was sometimes difficult deciding between asking for dry towels and/or going 3 straight days of drying yourself with a wet towel. Seems trivial but that's literally the only downside I found. Amazing food, amazing area. Pricey but understandable after realizing how far and removed you are. Can't be cheap to get supplies out there. Not fancy but charming and full of character.

AREA: Not suited for inconsiderate, know-it-alls. If you have any disrespect for the environment, ocean, other humans or have a selfish attitude on a point break or that co-existing is just a hippie thing and that you think that people around you should just accept how "you" feel like spending your time, then you will stand out like a soar thumb and be pushed out of that area by Cosmic & Spiritual Energy...you wouldn't even understand how or why people are so happy just relaxing, going to bed early, appreciating health and quality surf. You would be depressed from the simple thought that you will never achieve that level of self-actualisation and contentment without getting s$%^faced every night. That's what Daytona Beach is for... I hear that the drinks are 2 for 1!! Please reschedule. :)

Great service! Amazing space integrated with the jungle! Relaxing and adventurous at the same time! Visiting the Osa peninsula is a must in Costa Rica. We stayed at Encanta La Vida and had an amazing time. We were so remote from everything but there is so much to do and see. If you love to surf, this is the place for you. We went hiking, swimming and horseback riding. The yoga deck overlooks the beach and the classes makes you feel great. you have to get a massage when you are at Encanta. you will love their spa and all the organic products that they use made in costa rica. There is also a farmers market on Friday nights and dancing. The helpful staff at Encanta recommended and organized all the activities we did, and we couldn't be more grateful for the amazing experience there. Last but not least, we got to see three different type of monkeys hanging out, eating bananas and jumping from tree to tree at Encanta. Thank you for all the recommendations Kate! Beat memories!
