“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Had a lovely stay in the Hotel, Staff were very good, and very helpful and happy. Food was excellent, Room was big with a 4 poster bed Sofa and Big TV. Lovely gardens to walk around. Also used the Spa next door for a massage and spa treatments.

It is the first time I have been to Rookery Manor. A friend needed to go to pay the deposit on a car hire for her son's prom; I only tagged along for something to do. We had a look around the grounds which were just beautiful. The thing that really sold us on the place were the staff - they were so kind and friendly, yet totally professional. We liked the place so much that we stayed for a spur of the moment lunch, which was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious (reasonable price too, considering the high quality).
We are planning to visit again soon, this time to spend some time in their lovely looking spa as well as another lunch!

We stayed here when my friends got married. The hotel was clean enough but for the price we paid for our room (no 2 ) it wasnt really up to 4 star standard. Decor is out of date and we could easily hear our neighbours next door and upstairs.

Staff in the wedding were very nice and helpful and chef even went and made more vegetable kebabs when we ran out.

For a 4 star hotel i expected more from the breakfast. we were made to help ourselves to hot drinks and the honey was going off. The cooked breakfast wasnt anything to shout about either. My partner stated that the meat for the breakfast was poor quality and full of gristle.

Booked an overnight stay through TravelZoo for my husband and myself. Stayed in the Hibiscus room which was very clean and well decorated with a small patio. The bed was also comfortable with the shower room modern and clean. The grounds were really beautiful with a lake, bridge and waterfall and plants of very description. The staff were very friendly and helpful (especially the receptionist). We ate our dinner in the conservatory. The decor and the food were both really good and were given a glass of champagne free with our meal. The quality of the breakfast was also very good (and very large). There was also a spa which we did not investigate this time. The only negative was that you could hear the motorway when you were not in your room, but apart from this it was a really enjoyable stay one which, I hope, we can repeat.

Room Tip: Our room was away from the hotel itself, so not advisable if you had walking difficulties (although...

Booked a one night stay with family we booked a family room for two adults and two children
On arrival we were shown to our room which was split onto two levels with 2 singles downstairs and our double up stairs great for us with with 2 girls aged 11 and 13. The room was actually very tired and shabby with thread bare carpet stains on walls chipped paintwork. It was a shame as a lick of paint and new carpet would transform the room. On a positive note the staff are very friendly the gardens are immaculate and the privacy and location of the hotel is great. After a very bad rights sleep due to a lumpy matress we had breakfast served in the conservatory again it was quite standard. It seems that the better rooms are in the main building and they appear on the website as this hotel caters for 200 weddings a year I think the majority of guests stay in the main building. If a little bit of money was spent on the annexed building for non wedding guests it would be somewhere we would stay again.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights. The room was very small and basic for the price, with no bath. (Most of the Premier Inns I've stayed at have had nicer rooms)

The food in the resteraunt is over priced for the standards. The food was poor - breakfast was mass cooked - stodgy bacon etc.

We ordered a 'medium' steak which came in a pool of blood. First night we waited nearly an hour for our mains.

We organised a £100 tab before the stay for our food and drinks. On the last night we were told we had £25 on the tab left, however on checking out I had to pay £6 as we'd apparently gone over. Shouldn't of had to pay for their mistake.

The one redeeming factor is the spa, which was equipped with great facilities and the customer service was excellent, with extremely helpful and friendly staff.

The hotel staff we friendly but some need more training.

Overall would not stay again.

Booked into this hotel last minute.
Hotel resolved a problem with the online booking (neither mine nor hotel's fault), with understanding and efficiency before we even arrived.
Given a great family room, split over two levels - which my 2 teenage children appreciated, to provide them with their own space!
Weather awful so we abandoned our idea of fish 'n' chips on Weston-super-mare's seafront & dined in the bistro - perfectly acceptable, reasonably priced & good service.
Comfortable night's sleep - negatives of the room: BBC1 & BBC2 not available!, a mirror would be useful on the mezzanine floor & the shower's compact.
Breakfast (included in our room rate) back in the bistro - bit disappointing not as listed, my son loves continental style cold meats & cheese but not available.
These are minor whinges the overall experience was very good.
Weather improved on day of departure to show off the fabulous gardens that are clearly a great feature of this hotel, so close to M5, & what I guess is one of the reasons it seems well geared-up for weddings.

Room Tip: Split level family room - ask for room 3.
