“A great place to stay while exploring Eleuthera.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2011

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary with a trip to Eleuthera. This was our first trip to Eleuthera and I found Eleuthera to be exactly what I was looking for. We stayed the first half of the trip at Pineapple Fields. I considered a number of places to stay but chose Pineapple Fields because of these factors:

1. Location in the middle of Eleuthera;
2. The website was easy to navigate and find information about rates and dates of availability;
3. Recent pictures and floor plans that showed the clean looking facilities and grounds;
3. An onsite restaurant where drinks and meals could be charged to the condo/room;
4. Proximity to other restaurants; and,
5. My inquiries via e-mail were answered in a timely manner.

The location in the middle of island really makes it a perfect place to start and end each day as you explore Eleuthera. The staff and management were competent and genuinely friendly. The unit we stayed in was clean, fully furnished and very comfortable. The unit had daily maid service and was always in great shape when we returned each day. The grounds are very well maintained and the pool in the middle of the property was in perfect shape.

The beach is only a short walk from the unit and is as beautiful as any you can imagine. (The pix we took cannot do justice to how nice it really is.) I have seen a couple of reviews where people complained about having to walk to the beach. I’m sure they were disappointed when they arrived, but I looked up Pineapple Fields on Google Earth and was never under the impression that the Pineapple Fields' units were located right on the beach. Anyone going to a place for the first time should do their research and ask questions like that before arriving. Tippy’s Restaurant is right on the beach. Everything we had at Tippy’s was excellent and you can charge drinks and meals to your room, which is a great convenience.

I found staying at Pineapple Fields to be a totally enjoyable experience, from check in to check out. Ours was an anniversary trip, but I would say Pineapple Fields is great for a couple, a family or a group of friends who want to spend quality time doing things together.

Room Tip: A Rental Car is must for a trip to Eleuthera.

We stayed at Pinneapple Fields for 7 nights. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook in every night, if you'd like. The hotel was very quiet and not many people seemed to be around. The beach right across the street is also quiet and beautiful. Some of the same pink sand that Harbour Island is known for! If you know what Eleuthera is all about...a relaxing, low-key, find your own way kind of place...then this is a great place to stay.The owner and his children are extremely friendly.
The bed was comfortable, but didn't have a mattress pad so the sheets kept sliding off. The bathroom was clean and towels were replenished as needed. However, after the cleaning lady came the bathroom smelled like bad body odor rather than a clean, fresh smell.
We also encountered the mosquito problem, but you would have this no matter where you stayed. Two things to load up on in Eleuthera- Bug Spray and Drinking water!

Tippy's (same owner) has pretty decent food but not the best service. We ate there for 2 dinners and 1 lunch. Saturday night was the best, as we enjoyed the live music and variety of people that night.The staff is not very welcoming and we often felt like we were a bother to them.

We stayed at Pineapple Fields in June '11. We were very pleased with the location, accommodations and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, but you literally couldn't go outside without being swarmed by mosquitos. We stayed in a rented house for several days before moving over to Pineapple Fields and we did not have the mosquito issue at the house. We had a great deck on our place at Pineapple Fields, but it was impossible to enjoy because of the mosquitos. We tried the pool area and the problem was the same. We walked over to Tippy's, the restaurant across the street, and encountered the same problem. Unless we were on the beach, we found it better to just stay indoors. They had some pretty significant rain the week before we arrived, so the mosquitos may have been worse because of that. If they know they're that bad after a rain, they might look at investing in a misting system or, at the very least, having their groundskeepers use foggers to keep the problem at a minimum.

Very laid back environment, condos are well designed, spacious, bright, clean - lots of counter tops, washer/dryer. Within walking distance of beautiful beach, Nature preserve and of course, Tippy's.

Not much night life on Eleuthera, but that's OK by us.
This is our third visit and we will be back.

Eleuthera is very quiet, beautiful beaches and water. You wont be happy staying here without a car [and the rentals are beaten up, but ours got us around, and about $60+/day. You will need some supplies for the apartment, and only a couple of places in Governor's Harbor to food shop or buy liquor. Not a lot of restaurants and none are budget category.
Pineapple Fields is lovely, across the road and steps from the beach. It was very quiet the 8 days we were there. It seems older than stated age, and the apt we stayed in was nice, but needed a couple of little touch ups. Very nice towels and thick, fluffy, new beach towels and beach chairs very useful. Daily maid service good. There is a very small deli with only a small selection of items, water, etc.. You have to be very content to have a slow, placid week to stay here! For those wanting a vacation of this type [which we did], highly recommended.

I travel to a different island in the Caribbean every 6 months and I must tell you that this was BY FAR my favorite place I have ever stayed. There is something special about this resort and it is really hard to narrow it down and put your finger on it, but it is unique and special. The beach is the most beautiful I have ever seen and the most amazing thing is that you never see anyone on it. It is like you have your own private beach and resort all to yourself. It is quiet and relaxing and at the same time fun. I had the most amazing time and will be going back as soon as I can. The most special part of this resort is Zena aka Condo Dog. She belongs to the owner but adopts the people passing through and will hang with you. She is most adorable and entertaining. I think I miss her the most and look forward to going back to have the pleasure of hanging with her soon.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful and quiet with views.

This is a condo hotel, so the "rooms" are actually small 1-bedrooms with a full kitchen. Everything was incredibly clean and new, so it was a pleasure to make ourselves breakfast in the morning and use the spotless coffee maker. There is a deli on the property for buying essentials (but quite overpriced), so we made our way into Governors Harbor and bought staples at the store in Governors Harbor.

The condo-hotels are not ON the beach, but across a small road and Tippy's, the restaurant is across the street. Tippy's is open for lunch and dinner (only until 9pm) and is pretty good, although the service was a bit grumbly when we arrived for dinner at nearly 9pm one night, and in fact didn't give us the desert we ordered so we'd leave. The Beach House restaurant is just down the way from the hotel, so if you're looking for dinner nearby, that's the best spot and only 3-4 minutes drive. If you stay elsewhere on the island, you may have a longer drive in total blackness if you want to eat out at a restaurant on-property, so once again I feel the Pineapple is a good choice.

The beach on the property is wide and long and tranquil. There are no lounge chairs, but that is how it is on Eleuthera. You go there for natural beauty.

The rooms all have balconies with chairs and tables for viewing the ocean and enjoying the breeze. We also had table and chairs on the back side of the property with a view of the pool.

Room Tip: Room 221 has ocean views from the balcony
