“Absolutely Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

It started with a fantastic welcome, and just got better and better throughout our stay. We were here for two nights, and Sam's greeting as we arrived was spot on. Really friendly, welcoming, genuine and yet professional. Everything was explained to us, and we were asked if there was anything further we needed before she left us in our room. The quality of fittings and furnishings is of a very high standard, and was completely to our taste. Great bed, resulting in a very comfortable nights sleep with luxurious bed linen and soft fluffy towels. Brilliant wall to wall mirror in the bathroom which somehow never misted up even with the door shut after two showers. I loved the perfect bathroom lighting for shaving, (a point that is often forgotten in some of the best hotels). Breakfast, was again prepared with top quality ingredients, including real local honey and home made bread. Oh! almost forgot the home made cookies provided on check in, they were delicious. Sam gave us some good recommendations for places to eat, one within walking distance, and on the second night, about 20 minutes drive away.

We really could go on and on singing the praises about this wonderful B&B, as we know first hand how difficult it is to provide this standard on an ongoing daily basis. Finally, we should say that the overall value for money is excellent. We really would recommend you don't consider going anywhere else.

What a fabulous B&B this is. The rooms are luxurious with the attention to detail that you get in a top class hotel. The en suite has everything, a first class waterfall shower and a lovely roll top bath should you wish to spend a nice pampering hour or so. We received a wonderful welcome from Sam Read when we arrived and nothing has been too much trouble including booking restaurants for us. Scrumptious home made cookies in our room, home made bread and "Nanna's home made marmalade on the breakfast table. We wholeheartedly recommend this lovely place.

Sam and Nick have created an absolute haven at Swallows Rest; after staying here through the week over the course of a few weeks I can testify to the consistently high standard of comfort, cleanliness and presentation. So much care has gone into planning what guests need, from the wonderful, supremely comfortable bed to the lovely toiletries and professional-standard hair dryer, but it's the extra details like the home-made cookie and fridge packed with goodies that really make it stand out, not to mention the wonderful hospitality of Sam and Nick. This should be everyone's first choice of accommodation in the area - nowhere else comes close to matching it for excellence.

We visit our son who lives nearby and we usually stay in local hotels. This time they were fully booked and we chanced on this B/B. How delighted we were. The rooms here leave the local and national hotels in this price range standing so far behind. There is nothing not to like here everything is 5* +. Food,Beds,Bathrooms ,Towels & soaps all 1st class. Don't tell our son,but now we know of this place he and the grandkids will see more of us.

Room Tip: all are superb

This little B&B is the perfect place to stay. Every detail of the room & services have been thought out very well. The bed is very very comfortable, the bathroom has soft white towels & the facilities in the room were perfect. The off street parking is no problem & the place sits in a quiet lane off of the quiet village.
Sam was very friendly & helpful, making sure everything was to my liking.
I can highly recommend this B&B to all.

We have stayed in many B&Bs in the UK and beyond and this was one of the best ever! Swallows Rest is a new establishment and everything from the bedlinen, large fluffy towels and the decor are clean, bright and new. The well appointed bathroom has a large tub and is bright and airy. The large double bed was VERY comfortable with soft pillows and crisp white sheets. Sam provided wonderful home cooked cookies in the rooms to go with the selections of tea and coffee and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic with freshly baked bread, fresh fruit salad and cereals as well as a wonderful cooked breakfast. With a peaceful village location and friendly hosts, the Swallows Rest is the perfect stop over.

This b&b sets a new standard. Self contained and very spacious, in the lovely village of Brigstock.
Everything about this place was perfect, even the price! Wish I could have stayed longer, Sam made me so welcome. Highly recommended.
