“Worth the trip, dial down the Starwoods club push”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We enjoyed our one night at the Hacienda, it is a beautiful site, with lovely gardens. Our room had it's own patio, with huge windows and high ceilings. All of the setting felt just right - the restaraunts, the huge terrace, our room, etc. The hospitality was really nice, they seemed to appreicate our interested in the hacienda and it's heritage. The food was really good as well, featuring local favorites. Two downsides - the lovely pool was quite dirty, and they pushed joining Starwoods the second we got there and signed us up even when we declined. It was jarring - to have traveled for hours to drive into this lovely hacienda and settle on the patio to get a hard sell on Starwoods.

We spent a wonderful 3 nights at the Hacienda Santa Rosa, our superior room was large and beautifully fitted with period touches - we loved the huge doors into the bathroom. The whole place exudes charm with the brightly painted buildings and the cosy pool area.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic - traditional food presented in a modern way. Also the Nespresso coffee was a nice change from the coffee we were served elsewhere in the Yucatan!
The only thing I would definitely recommend is getting directions in advance if you don't have a GPS - the map and address on their website is misleading!

In short All the glowing reviews are correct stay here & see the flamingos!

We stayed here Nov 2010 see other review of San Jose. We drove from San Jose with a stop off in Merida for Lunch which I would recomend. We stayed only two nights and spent one day going to the falmingos which was really worth it . As we arrived late & ate in the town of the famingos I can t comment much about the food but pricy drinks as mentioned before & if you are going to charge the most for a moijito then it better be the best one ever tasted.
great location near little village we stopped off & bought drinks chocalte etc for the car journey as its alway s good to support any local business you can.
Probably a bit simpler than hacienda san Jose but it had a more romantic smaller wilder location which I liked.

It wasnt hard to find as long as you use an old fashioned map and any diversion just felt part of the adventure. Lovely service and a terrific manager who was very helpfull.

We (my husband and I) stayed 4 nights in Yucatan before attending a conference in Mexico City. We felt lucky to have picked Hazienda Santa Rosa. The location is amazing, out in the country in a little village about 55 km from Mérida, deep into Mayan country, with Uxmal and Oxkintok close by. We were amazed by the genuine warm hearted reception and also by the service in the restaurant, attentive and humorous and very gentle. The room was very clean and well looked after. The pool tranquil and the Mayan massage in the Spa heavenly. It is truly a special place to stay and relax. Highly recommended. Many thanks to the staff!

Was there for 2 nights with kids and husband. Wonderfull place and service, the food is trully spectacular. I've been to other Haciendas in Merida, this one is very special, since the location is just in the middle of a town called Santa Rosa and everything is geniune. Take a tour to the garden of the property, and also to the "talleres" where real people are doing wonderfull arts & crafts. The pool is fine, specially the one outside the rooms, just a perfect spot for completely forgetting about everything and relaxing, whish I was there in this very moment !!!

Room Tip: Chose a room with direct access to the pool, beautiful and with hamacas...

We are fairly regular visitors of the Luxury Collection Hotels in Campeche and Yucatan. This one stands out for it's location and for the food! The rooms are, as always with this hotel group, perfect but the one thing that will always stand out for us is the food service and the fabulous quality of the ingredients they use here to prepare amazing meals for their guests. We only stayed a couple of nights before heading off to Hacienda Uayamon in Campeche. A super unique and flavorful experience, even for the seasoned traveler!

Room Tip: Go for the premium rooms. They are breathtaking.

I stumbled upon this hotel from a trek in the dusty countryside about 8 years ago. It was truly an oasis in the Yucatan. I have returned many times with students, work colleagues, family and friends and intend to do so again. On one occasion, we happened to be in the area without a reservation and the front gate was locked. We went around back (it was off season) and they opened the hotel for my student and myself...we had the whole place to ourselves and they were apologetic for not having everything up to par and having to cook whatever they had on hand (with help from the villagers) UNBELIEVABLY hospitable, warm, caring and spectacular setting...almost afraid to write this as the tranquility is a welcome change from other types of holidays. Having said that, you must be prepared for it being isolated, in a village with the usual village noises that are unavoidable and nothing else around for miles..

Room Tip: There is not a bad room...I believe I have seen all of them..
