“Great place to stay- with or without kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2011

I recently stayed at Wolgan valley with a friend and our 5 children all aged under 10. Crazy as it may sound it was actually a fantastic place to take kids and there was plenty to keep them entertained. The staff went out of their way to accommodate the kids and make them feel welcome. They enjoyed a bush safari and horse riding as their nominated included activity and the restaurant even had a fine dining "kids menu". One night we chose to eat dinner in our suite and once again the stafff went above and beyond to serve us a lovley home style dinner and whisk away all the dirty plates after. All the kids were kiited out with a mountain bike to roam around on and the indoor pool kept them entertained.
Overall a wonderful experience

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2011

We have just spent three wonderful days at Wolgan Valley Resort. We are return guests, having been there in January 2010. The Spa treatment was excellent the first time we visited the Resort, this time we wanted to try some of the new activities not available to us the first time.
After 40 years of not riding a horse, Simone was able to carefully introduce us back to riding. She started us in the ring on gentle horses for half an hour of walking and trotting. We were also shown through the excellent new stables for the horses.
In the afternoon my husband climbed Donkey Mountain for the second time. it is a challenge for very experienced climbers as there is no trail to the top. The Resort encourages you to take one of their radios.
The next day we spent over an hour on a trail ride through the beautiful property.
After a swim in our cabin's pool we then hiked for 3 hours to the Glow Worm Tunnel and back. This is a steep walk with some avalanches and fallen trees. The Resort gives you a well stocked pack with food, radios, first-aid kit, towel (for a river crossing) and torches (if you wish to go into the man-made tunnel).
I had the privilege of a one-on-one cooking demonstration with the Head Chef. I was very impressed with the care that goes into selecting organic meats, eggs and vegetables for his recipes. He gave me copies of some of the recipes used in the restaurant.
At breakfast you can now order freshly squeezed juices from the very attentive staff. If there are less than 50 guests you have a tray set at your table to select your breakfast. However, while skim milk is available, we would like to see organic oats, oat bran and organic apricots and other dried fruits available for porridge for breakfast and also no fat yogurt.
The quality of the meals was superb. Despite the energetic activities that we take part in, we have to watch our weight. In line with this, we requested that some of the courses in the main evening meal be modified or left out of the degustation menu.
The chef at lunchtime carefully prepared meals in line with our requests.

In our cabin, a request for cleaning staff to give us firmer pillows was instantly met. As was a request for the phone technician.
Other new features at the resort are shade-cloth over our parked car at the entrance to the resort, trees lit by solar powered lights, new horse paddocks sprayed with recycled water, and a BBQ pit at the Homestead.

On departure we were given a late check-out at 12 noon and lunch at no extra cost. Making for exceptional value.
We will be back again.

What a magnificent place. I just went there to celebrate my husband's 50th. We were being welcomed by lovely staff and a glass of sparkling wine. Then we had a short tour around the property. Once in our suite I felt like I never wanted to get out of it. Beautiful decorated, cosy, open double sided fireplace, great music and a Nesspresso machine. Stunning bathroom, with bathtub overlooking the valley. The pool which is connected to the villa can be either indoor or outdoor, depending on whether you open the windows. Rocking chairs on the mosquito proof deck. There are two mountain bikes waiting for you outside the door on which you make the most beautiful bike rides through the valley. Wildlife at your doorstep.
Then there is the food! A whole experience itself. Dinner was 6 course menu with lots of choice. Great wines to accompany the food. Staff who have an eye for detail and service. We were never a moment without a empty glass or bottle of water.Dinner was served in the restaurant where 2 huge fireplaces were burning, what a romantic place. Breakfast and lunch was also out of this world. As my work has taken me all over the world, this is certainly in my top 3 favourite list when it comes to location, food, service and uniqueness. There is a gorgeous spa. If you want more action there are plenty of activities to choose from. We did horse riding along the valley which was a great way to explore the property and meet all the animals.
We saw lots of wallabies, kangaroos and wallaroos and even a wombat.Unfortunately we only stayed 2 days. There are lots of picnic spots where the staff will make a lovely picnic basket for you to take along.Any way there are too many things to mention, but I definitely would recommend it to everyone who is looking for an unforgettable experience.

Such is the beauty, the elegance and tranquillity of the valley that it is hard to put it in words. The scenic beauty of the surrounding mountains leaves one in a mesmerised state. And no matter how many times you look at the valley it looks more beautiful than before. The valley keeps changing colours practically every minute adding to its charm and splendour.

Right from the moment we were driven into the valley in a four wheel drive we could experience the luxury, the high quality of service and the unprecedented hospitality of the ever friendly staff. The main reception area and the restaurants are perfectly designed and located in one of the most beautiful spots up the hill. The food is top quality with emphasis on local produce and a variety of options are available to choose from. The cellar has a grand selection of local and branded wines and the local ones we tasted were as good as any other. The kitchen is open most part of the day and you can drop in any time for a quick bite which is quite handy.

The staff are very friendly and ever ready to go out of their way to help. We had our 2 year old with us and we had to order things for her every now and then which the staff delivered promptly. The housekeeping staff did a good job with tidying up our suite frequently which did help in a big way. The Suites are very well designed and very spacious adding comfort and enhancing the relaxation experience. You can sit all day in the suite doing nothing and still feel contented. The in-suite heated pool makes it easy to jump in any time for a quick swim or to just relax by the pool and enjoy your drink.

For the adventurous people there are plenty of outdoor activities which are included as part of the package. We enjoyed the wildlife safari in a four wheel drive and our little one was overjoyed to see the Kangaroos hopping around in the wild. We also went for the nocturnal tour and spotted some wombats too. The Sky wasn’t too clear that night but we still managed to do a bit of star gazing. Clear skies would really make it a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was excellent and kept us entertained all the time. We also did the horse ride in the arena which we all enjoyed.

The spa has a variety of massages and other treatments to suit different needs. They are quite expensive but it is definitely worth the money. The staff are very polite and professional and it was the best massage experience that I have ever had. The 1832 Heritage Homestead was worth the visit. It has been restored back to its perfect original state and its location makes it very unique. The main outdoor pool adjacent to the restaurant is beautifully designed and can be a treat on a hot summer day.

Every thing in this resort has been well thought of and lot of efforts have been put in to ensure every single element stands out. The mattress used in our suite is superb and it gave us a very relaxed feeling the next morning. Every suite has a unique identity and history. There is a wide selection of books available for readers. There is no mobile network in the valley but I was amazed at the speed of the wireless internet. Foxtel is also available to keep updated with news and sports and there is a huge collection of latest Hollywood movies as well.

This place is definitely worth the money and we cant wait to get back to the resort again.

We just had the most wonderful week-end at the Wolgan Valley resort where I proposed to my now-fiancée. Everybody from reservations to the staff on the resort have been nothing but thoughtful and helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay a fantastic experience. I highly recommend it.

An exquisite facility surrounded by nature's best - mountains, expansive landscapes, animals; a staff that is gracious, attentive without being overbearing; food that equals the best we've eaten at the most famous restaurants; rooms so inviting they are hard to leave - complete with fireplace, expresso machine, lap pool. The nature walks are led by knowledgable guides willing to customize the adventure to personal interests. The exercise room, pool, and spa treatments maintain the high level of excellence of Wolgan Valley. Well worth the effort to get there.

Our expectations of Wolgan Valley Resort were high and it didn't disappoint, in fact it far exceeded our hopes. The resort is situated in one of the most spectacular Blue Mountains location's. The highlights were numerous - waking up to wallabies (or were they wallaroos?) hopping freely across the grounds right outside our luxurious, comfy and secluded cabin; delicious breakfasts on the dining room balcony; local, fresh produce at every meal; the charming evening meal in the dining room; every staff member making you feel as if you're the only guests at the resort. And then there's the spa... the spa... the spa. A tranquil and calming hideaway leaving you floating on exit. We will be back.
