It's a perfect location for surfing and relax at the beach. Very good food at the resort and friendly locals. They don't bother you about money, to sell stuff and are very quiet. Beautiful scenery at the top of the cliffs in Rancho Santana. Quiet a long way from Manágua, get a map and GPS

My husband and I rented one of the ocean view homes in Rancho Santana for a week. The views were incredible and we really enjoyed the wildlife around the Ranch. We had meals at the clubhouse restaurant as well as meals in our home prepared by a private cook and both options were excellent. There were tons of activities available but we really just enjoyed exploring the ranch or spending time on our favorite beach there, Playa Escondida. We did have an issue one night where our power went out even though the home we rented had been advertised as having a back up generator. We had diffulculty getting in touch with anyone about the situation and ended up without power for approximately 12 hours which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep. Other than that, we had a very good experience at Rancho Santana and would absolutely go back.

This was our fourth trip to RS. We loved the convenience of staying in a condo. The pool and clubhouse are the perfect distance. We enjoy seeing the improvements and additions each time we visit. This is the perfect place for a relaxing family time.

We had a great time here. Stayed in one of the homes on the side of a hill looking over the Pacific. The onsite restaurant was fantastic & the surf was unbelievable. There was a 2 person staff that came with the home included with the nightly rate & they were very helpful with problems with our car to cooking meals for us. Everyone we met in this area were very friendly & we would definitely go back.

Top notch in every way. The staff was exceptional. Order meals with an in-home cook, Cathy cooked up lobster that was divine. We stayed in Casa Ensueno, 2 couples, steps above the left point break with a panoramic view of Playa Rosada, with infinity pool. I'd pick that one again. Alberto took us on a nature hike which was beautiful, even when it started to pour rain. He was friendly and very accommodating, his English is like a native speaker. We even taught him to surf. Can't wait to go back.

A group of 8 of us stayed at Rancho Santana at Balcones del mar J9.
This house is amazing with incredible views, and literally open to the outside.
The Ranch was wonderful in helping us with transportation to and from the ranch during our week exploring.
I would recommend Rancho Santana, for an amazing, unique, beautiful beaches, amazing hikes, off the beaten path type of vacation.
Be open minded to experiencing another culture and different bugs!

My wife and I decided on a last minute getaway from SF to Rancho Santana! We rented a casita for the week which was perfect as it was close to the clubhouse and the beach but more relevant was the service we received at the ranch. Alberto givae us a bike tour of the property and was fluent in english and super kind and helpful! He is really great and offered us all sorts of other activities to do while we were there.
Angie and the rental team helped with car rental and other advice..

Lastly, my wife participated in the daily Yoga with Tanya who she reported as fabulous! They did yoga in a cool yoga platform under a palapa in front of the beach across the river from the clubhouse.

Rancho is the perfect place for a week get-away! The food is great as is the clubhouse, it is safe and the beaches and activities make for a romantic and great getaway!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Rancho Santana, set serenely in the Southwest Pacific offers a collection of distinctive seaside experiences. Though little more than two hours from Nicaragua's capital city of Managua by car, the property has grown into a quiet community that enjoys purity, authenticity, and a somehow romantically rustic elegance. Both residential and resort, "the ranch" boasts over 2,700 acres of majestic land along two miles of shoreline which include five unique beaches. And while this paradise is the perfect setting to do nothing at all but sunbathe and stargaze, its remarkable range of terrain, unique climate and soothing coastal breezes make it a coveted destination for the more active and adventurous traveler. Tucked between the open sea and the immense Lake Nicaragua, "the ranch" has the distinction of being one of the only isthmuses on the entire Pacific Ocean. This unique geographical phenomenon creates gentle tropical breezes, which when paired with year-round warm ocean waters make the beaches' surfing conditions some of the most coveted on the planet. With the early sunrise, "shredders" of all ages and origins take to the breaks of Las Cinco Playas de Rancho Santana, which include some of the world's most vertical waves, providing both visual drama as well as world-class surfing. Lookers-on walk the water's edge watching the surfers dance across the waves while just yards behind them fisherman bring in what will be the evening's fresh catch in the clubhouse's renowned restaurant, La Finca y el Mar. ... more   less
