“Over Rated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Overall not a very nice holiday infact I would say very disappointed we stayed from 31st May to 10th June 2013 what was most off putting was the strong sewage smell which was awful we endured this on four different days...I would not book a swim up pool room with the number 101 to 109 because just the other side of your own little pool area is the large MAIN SEWER which is situated in the middle of the grass area directly opposite rooms 101 to 109 and at times it really stinks infact at around 15.00pm one day they opened the covers and exposed the smell to one and all leaving the covers open while they were doing some work.
I only write genuine and honest reviews and can only say that I booked this hotel from reading the reviews of other people and cannot understand how they have rated this hotel highly I speak as I find so believe this review or not is entirely up to you. Firstly I must say that the whole complex was spotless everywhere was clean and the staff were very friendly, the room we had was 631 on the 6th floor and was spotless but the sea views were a little disappointed, the room had plenty of space for hanging clothes and plenty of draw space the room was of a good size but the shower was a let down...not enough power.
The complex let itself down by the lack of facilities the reception was on ground level when coming from the front entrance but on the 3rd floor from the pool area the hotel only had 2 public toilets one on the 1st floor and one across the pool area in the corner of the entertainment area there were only 2 bars one in the main lounge and the other around the pool area near to the beach and they served the whole of the hotel and they were not very big either.
The Main Restaurant.... is clean but can get a little warm if the weather is hot,the air/con was never used. The food was well varied with different meat, pasta and rice dishes plus theme food each night there was plenty of salad too the desserts kind of let them down not much choice, the breakfast was very good alot to pick from the sad thing about it all is the food was never hot enough it was always warm but enjoyable.
The afternoon snacks..... served in the entertainment area were not bad but you had to go when they laid the food out because it too was only warm and was exposed to flies etc due to the fact no covers were placed over the food, the pizza was cooked fresh but that went quickly.
The pool area.... was good but not very big for a so called 4* that is if you can get a bed in a good spot for sun bathing from our room we could see the pool and being an early riser I would watch people putting towels on beds at 7.30am and even though I reported this to the Rep and the hotel nothing was done, one morning I went down at 8am sat on one of the beds and watched them putting towels down and counted 51 towels on beds you could go on the grass area to sun bathe but you may also get bitten by the insects so we used the beach alot and that too to a certain degree was not towel free.
The childrens area..... though we did not use it as we had no children I dont know many that did as there was not much for a child to do if anything.
Entertainment.....all I can say is terrible terrible terrible it was with one exception the IL Divo tribute guys absolute rubbish and out of 10 nights we stayed to watch the tribute act, the rest we went to watch but left they were good enough for children.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel firstly because it does not reach the standard you would expect of a 4* its location is very isolated and very hilly to the extreme you are in the middle of nowhere though there is a bus stop near the hotel, there are no ramps for wheel chairs in the complex its all steps this should be rated at a 3* at the most and cost accordingly it is not worth the money you pay and the smell is awful at times.
There were 6 children and 1 adult that contracted ear infections it was suspected from the pool and after the filtration was switched off for 2 days and checked after the infection outbreak but it was hushed up someone we met had their child hospitalised over night.
That is my truthful review and my own experience.

Room Tip: All I can say is if you do go ask for a high floor room with sea view there are 7 floors we had 631...

Dear guest,

We wish to thank you for your stay at the Lti Louis Grand and for your comment.

We are delighted that you found our property spotless, and our staff very friendly and attentive; moreover we are glad that our room was to your satisfaction and you found our food very varied. It is however disappointing that we could not satisfy you fully and for this we want to apologize. For clarification, the object you thought was the sewage system installed in the grass area is in fact the machinery connected to the functioning of our swim-up pool, not the biological treatment plant which is located elsewhere. Furthermore, in regards to your remark about the ear infection, there were in total 3 cases during the time of your stay, which according to our doctor, amongst 600 guests, is quite normal. We were immediately alerted as soon as the second ear infection case was brought to our attention, and for this reason checked all levels of water additives; they were all in the correct range and no filtration was ever switched off. Please be assured that we make absolutely sure that our pool water is kept at optimal standards at all times.

We are surprised about your negative remarks on our new swim-up rooms because we have received nothing but positive feedback. There are some peak hours during the day when all guests are taking a shower simultaneously after coming back from the beach or pool, causing a lack of water pressure, but other than that we do not face such a big problem. Let us politely disagree with you about the lack of food and beverage facilities because having two bars and three restaurants is more than enough for a property of this size. It saddens us that our desserts were a letdown for you, nevertheless our chefs will be informed about your remark as well as the temperature of the food; similarly our animation team will also be informed of your dissatisfaction with their performances. Regarding sun beds, we do ask our guests not to reserve them in advance but unfortunately this is not always adhered to. Finally for your information we offer a regular shuttle bus service to Corfu town for free, which you might have overlooked during your stay.

Lti Louis Grand is rated as a 4 star hotel based on the standard of services we offer, and you can see clearly on this website that most guests agree with us. The fact that the property is isolated is not in itself a reason to reduce the star rating; in fact some of the world’s best hotels are in much more remote locations than ours. Our location is advertised clearly and truthfully in our brochures, and is also evident from the comments on this website; we thus cannot accept responsibility for someone not being aware of this in advance.

Please accept our sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations, if you consider to give our company another chance to impress you with our services, Louis Hotels also manages several hotels in Cyprus, particularly the King Jason and the Royal Apollonia, which might suit your needs better.

Faithfully yours,

The Management.

We have just returned home from a very relaxing week in Glyfada.

The Louis Grand is at the bottom of a very steep winding road, so if your not 100% fit and you like walking while on holiday unfortunately this hotel is not for you, BUT if you like to go away and just chill then choose this hotel.

There is a small village just along the beach, just a couple of shop and a taverna, a little disapointing, but if you go out of the hotel via the road and take a left there is a new taverna, opened this year, which is better.

The hotel rooms have recently been refurbished, and are just as on the website, some of the other areas of the hotel havn't been updated, but it doesn't really matter as most of your time you will be enjoying the facilities out doors.

The pool area has plenty of beds and umbrellas, there is also a large grassed area with beds too, and the beach is beautiful with lots of beds and umbrellas, all free to hotel guests. there is a lifegaurd at the beach, which you don.t find everywhere, so thats good.

The food was very good with lots of choice every day, breakfast and evening meal as served in the main resturant. lunch is served in the resturant by the pool which is great because you don't need to go back into the hotel at lunchtime.
The pool bar is open from 10.00 till midnight for all you requirements, and I have to say the local brands were really good quality.

There is a dress code in the evening for men, but its not implemented, or it wasn't while we were there.

The only slight downside was the loungr bar, which was a very large room with lots of comfy seating, but nothing happens in there, there is a piano but no pianist, some backgroung music would help maybe.
Also I realise this hotel is not Adult Only, but there is so much space in the hotel which seems unused, it would be a good idea to have an Adult Only bar situated somwhere in the hotel, where adults who are not travelling with children can have a few drinks where there a no children running around shouting.

The entertainment is out doors in the evening, weather permitting, some good some not so good!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the staff could do with a few lessons in customer service, but on the whole an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: it really is worth paying for a sea veiw room. if you choose a swim up room there is quite often qu...

Dear guest,

Thank you for holidaying at the Lti Louis Grand.

We are glad that you liked our recent refurbishment, and note our spacious grounds with enough sun loungers for every one; moreover we are delighted that our varied choice of food did not leave you indifferent and that you were satisfied with the quality of our alcoholic beverages. We regret that our entertainment program was not to your satisfaction, however we took a note of your suggestions and will certainly consider them for our future improvement. We are surprized to hear about the inappropriate customer service from some of our staff, but we respect your opinion and will inform them accordingly.

It fills us with joy that you found our hotel excellent for a relaxing break, and we hope to welcome you again to the Lti Louis Grand.

Kind regards,

The Management.

Just back from a glorious week at this lovely hotel. We paid extra for a swim up room and have to say it made the holiday. Super large pool that was a joy to swim in. Morning was spent at the beach and every afternoon at our own private pool. Sheer bliss.

Food was excellent and plenty of choice . No complaints there.

Rooms were fine (nice touch with the bottle of water left every day in the fridge.) Bathrooms need to be updated . Pretty basic but clean.

Okay the only downside I can see is the smell. It hits you on arrival and stays with you most of the time . I was told it is because of recycling the waste and oh boy is it bad. When they were watering the gardens beside our room it was not pleasant.

Overall I have to say this was a great hotel and one we would return to .

Room Tip: swim up rooms are worth the extra money

We (me my wife and two teenage children) stayed at the resort from the 24th May for 1 week, although wife and daughter managed another4/ 5 days due to an ear infection but that is another story altogether. This was our first Greek Island and first Fully Inclusive holiday so we didn't know what to expect but we totally enjoyed our stay.

Although the hotel is remote i.e. a good 35 minutes from Corfu Town over the windy roads and hills the hotel itself was exceptional, we had a sea view on the 3rd floor and apart from some noise from a young family towards the end of our stay the room was great with enough room for us all and with everything you would need from hair dryer to a fridge.

The food was very good quality and varied from breakfast to evening meal, we even ate one night at the Asian Restaurant which was also very good. The all inclusive drinks were good and the cocktails went down especially well with my wife and me, we should have asked for the recipes to the ‘Gylfada Special’ and the' Fizzy Gin' as these are something not to forget.

The staff are a real asset to the hotel and deserve a commendation on their own as we found them to be always friendly, very helpful and efficient when called upon.

I would have given 5 star rating, but I have 3 minor issues
1.I felt the pool was very cold, but this could have been down to the indifferent weather we experienced during our stay.
2.The hotel bus service to Corfu Town could also run an evening service so if you wanted you could take a trip and experience the town at night.
3. I think there were not a lot of activities for our 13 and 15 year olds throughout the week, maybe a teenage chill out area with free WIFI, music and games consoles might be an idea (their words not mine) I liked the idea of no gadgets for the week.

Room Tip: We had room 326 which had an excellent sea and Pool view

I cannot say enough about this hotel!! The hotel itself is clean and very modern, the food is lovely and so are the cocktails!! The views are amazing!!
The staff really showed how good they are when we discovered the night before flying from the doctor at the hotel that my 13 year old daughter had an ear infection which meant she couldn't fly! Because the insurance would only cover one adult to stay my husband and son had to fly home the next day, which meant my daughter and myself were on are own!! The hotel staff and our hotel rep Dan couldn't do enough for us and made sure we had a room until my daughter could fly!! We stayed there from the 24th of May to June 4th. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: It's worth paying extra for a sea view because the view is amazing!

We stayed here in September and everything was great except for the wasps.
We have just been back may 17/24th and loved it. The staff are just great...
Food good, room adequate, setting lovely. If u want to travel about u will need a car as the walk upto the road would kill a goat. But we went there to relax and not too sight see so it really suited us. The hotel run a bus into Corfu town which is a chance for a shopping fix.
We are going to the sister hotel in Zante in sept for a return trip and this hotel is just as lovely

Went to this Hotel from 20 - 31st May 2013 on a 11nights all inclusive package.

The hotel:-

A good quality Establishment and just been through a refurbishment the decor in the Rooms are excellent they have Air conditioning, Safes, Fridges,Hairdryers & TV (all the English main channels are available so can keep up with the News quite nicely) Plenty of storage space for your possesions had at least 20 Coat hangers in our wardrobe which is quite refreshing. Bathrooms has Shower & Bath and had Soap Dispenser by the Sink and shower gell dispenser in the shower (that saves on weight in the luggage).

The Hotel is Built onto a Cliff face so You when entering the Hotel into reception it is on the 3rd floor and you have 3 floors below and 3 floor above, 3rd floor has Reception, internet room, and a variety of seating area's, second floor has the Main restaurant, Asian Restaurant & Main Bar with an excellent seating area with sofa's,chairs etc (good quality fittings) 1st floor is where the Swimup rooms are located plus the Pool, Gym, Auditorium(is use for the entertainment if weather is inclement) , SPA, External dining area (Pegola covered for shade) which is used for lunch time food , Pool Bar , Kids entertainment area (machines.pool, table tennis etc) Also the Childrens Club is situated there so Mum & Dad can have a 360 degree view of there children who are superbly looked after by the Animation team. The evening entertainment is on the Stage in this area and so there are plenty of seats to be had

The All Inclusive;-
Excellent fare all round if you ask me, Breakfast as you can imagine serves everything you could want, Bacon was a bit Naff but Hey! who cares I love the Greek Yoghurts & fruit , bread, cereals etc. Good vegitarian & diabetic selections, food was always available from 7:30am up till 12 at night, the dining area by the pool was open from 12:30 to 18;00 served a good selection of snacks and salads, main dishes totally spoilt for choice, the Pizza was to die for! it was Stone baked cooked in front of you, paticular favourite with the kids as you can imagine. Good childrens selection of foods as well for the fussy eaters . You can book into the theme Asian restaurant as we did and the food was superb - japanese, chinese, thai etc thoroughly enjoyed it so I recommend that you take up the option.

Cheese and biscuits, ham salads, crisps and nibbles were available in the main bar from 09:30pm until midnight which went down well with the drinks.

2 ltr Water bottles are delivered to your room everyday and you can get refills at the bars anytime of the day the room had Tea/coffe making facilities and were well stocked by the cleaners.

The drinks on the all inclusive were quite good and a very good selection of Cocktails were provided as part of it as well which is unusual in my experiences. House wine was acceptable beer was good my son & daughter-in-law were drinking Ker-Royals all the time as the Champsge was very good indeed.

The Beach & Pool

You can hire the Beach towels with a 10 euro refundable deposit (Weigh saving again in the luggage department) Well you could not ask for a beach to be any closer in this Hotel-20 metres from the pool area. all the Beds & Brollies are part of the Inclusive package so no further expense there, there were over 240 beds available and easy access to the pool bar as well , plenty of beds around the Pool and in the surrounding gardens. The Gardens had well established trees and fauna so you get shade in there as well. Good Childrens Pool which had an enormous umbrella covering it and really kept the Kids safe from the sun. No need to reserve the beds at all you can come down any time and get them really, but people are quite finicky and once settled they like to be in the same space all of the holiday and probably got up at stupid o'clock to get them (whatever floats their boat I suppose) me I amble down after agood breakfast.

The Staff:-

Could not ask for better every single man/women were a delight and were so helpfull never waited more that 2/3 minutes for someone to either serve me or get my drinks -i needed to use the room service guys to fix the hair dryer & balcony door and both were done in less than 20 minutes of asking (who needs reps with service like that?) I left a good tip for the room cleaner as she was superb, I am one of these people who run their fingers over ledges and not one bit of dust did i find.

Pitfalls:-

Because the Hotel is situated at the bottom of a cliff face the roads were difficult to walk up and you either had a Car or booked the courtesy bus up to Corfu town so If you like to go sight seeing or go to Restaurants/Bars or Shop then I suggest that you dont book this Hotel

WIFI is quite expensive 30 euro's for 7 days and although the Hotel has just upgraded its equipment the Infrastructure i still not there to give you the speeds you require - I am a business man and need all my toys up and working even though I am on Holiday - Kids need their Android devices else they think the world has ended.

My Overall opinion is that I thoroughly enjoyed what was an extremely restfull holiday and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Sea View rooms 2 nd floor 210 to 224 they overlook the pool as well on the same floor as the restaur...
