We drove from Marrakech through stunning scenery in The High Atlas to visit this exquisite 12th Century Almohad dynasty mosque. The winding road seemed to go on for ever and hardly another car in sight! A couple of local lads sitting outside greeted us and told us they would get the key to open up! The simplicity of the mosque and the magnificent arches give the feeling of of infinity....... Being the only tourists there made it feel so special!
We would highly recommend stopping for lunch opposite the mosque where there is a small restaurant called Chez Abdou. We had a salad followed by the most gorgeous Berber Omlette cooked in a large terracota dish there! The owner and family were most hospitable to us chatting to us about the mosque and the country. And with Tin Mal opposite what a backdrop to a wonderful meal!!
