“Absolutely gorgeous beach and view!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2009

Stayed for only one night before a cruise but will definitely be back! Beach was gorgeous! Water so warm and clean. Pool area was very nice also. Plenty of beach chairs and our balcony view was breathtaking. Check in was very quick and pleasant. The staff everywhere was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and a good size. It was great to have a swim up bar and a snack bar right near the pool and beach.
Now the negatives: food was very expensive. Whether it was a small simple breakfast or lunch outside at the snack bar - food was very costly!!!!! If we were staying for a long period of time I would go food shopping. Snack bar needs to offer bagged snacks - chips, pretzels, crackers, popcorn - munchies. Also, maybe ice cream. Jets flying over are very loud sometimes. This is probably the biggest negative. However, when you see that palm tree lined beach and crystal blue water the jet noise just isn't that bad!!!

I stayed here Oct 28 09. I was coming to San Juan pre-cruise and heard they had salsa lessons at the Courtyard on Thursday nights. They do indeed, they are free, and great (though it was mambo, not salsa, technically). The hotel also has an awesome band in the social Picante lobby bar and is very popular for dancing Thurs and Fri. I met some people on the beach at the hotel and also went to Drums, a bar a few blocks away by the Denny's, which was great for dancing too. The hotel itself is very nice, quiet, good service, good room, and on what I would say is the best beach in the San Juan area. The water was clean, warm, nice beach and waves not too big. There are little sandflies and over 3 days I got about 10 bites, but they are not itchy and you can put on bugspray. The hotel's pools and gym are great (I would suggest some yoga mats), and my room had a peek a boo view of the water. The food in the Salsa restaurant was good with very soft, fresh bread at dinner and a good breakfast buffet. Downside is being a $17 taxi ride from Old San Juan but I combined this hotel with 2 nights at El Convento there for the best of both worlds (ie beach and culture). I did not get a chance to take the bus but I did not feel at all unsafe walking around anywhere. If coming in for a cruise, one must spend some time in Puerto Rico. I saw all of San Juan and will return for a visit to Culebra island's Playa Flamenco and the Bioluminescent bay tour (it was a full moon when I was there so tour not running), and would like to see a lot more of Puerto Rico.

For business, this hotel is just fine. Decent restaurants, clean rooms, pleasant staff. If you like to gamble, there are $5 blackjack tables in the casino. It's right on the beach if you have time for that.

My only complaint is that it is situated not only right near the airport runway, but also right near where departing planes crank up their engines for takeoff. The noise and rumble are stultifying. Once that first plane takes off at about 6:20am, you'll be awake.

We were accomodated here on American Airline's tab and I have to say, I was quite pleased with our stay. The customer service was great, the lounge was large and spacious. We were placed in an ocean view room with a balcony and had a great view. The room and the bed could use a bit of upgrading but I guess for the price and it's location in relation to the beach, it would be a good deal. They have an awesome Ice ceam parlor in the lobby and an okay breakfast buffet. Our only complaint was that Sirena's restaurant claimed we could not sit outside at 930 even though they were supposed to close at 11:00 pm. We could not understand why and it didn't seem they cared t=what we thought either, Check out was easy and the concierge and the staff were overall pleasant.

I have nothing but good things to say about Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde. I obtained a great deal on Hotwire for this hotel, and since it was the last night of our trip to Puerto Rico, we wanted a place nearby the airport for our hotel yet still on the beach and this was a perfect fit.

For the low price we paid, I was astounded by the service and quality of the hotel. Staff was friendly and check in was a breeze. The hotel is also located in Isla Verde, a little resort town (we had already spent several days staying in Old San Juan and around the island - this isn't OSJ, so you have to expect less culture and more of a resort feel). But it is close (5-10 minute walk) to some restaurants, shops, and bars/clubs. It was also like a 15 minute walk from where we had to drop off our car rental so it worked out perfectly.

The lobby is big and nice. It was a special trip for my partner which I had mentioned and I and we received an upgrade to a gorgeous ocean view room and fruit plate. I wasn't sure what to expect of the room but it had an amazing comfortable king size bed, a huge flat screen tv, a nice if not luxurious bathroom, and view from the balcony was breathtaking. We also got a coupon for a free drink and a casino credit at check in and went downstairs later to use those. The casino is small but serves the purpose of playing a little Blackjack or some slots. We then wandered over to sit outside on the ocean front patio area until it started raining, which is too bad because it was gorgeous out. Since we were only there one night we didn't get to enjoy the pool, beach hammocks or beach itself, but ithey looked really nice. Such a shame we only had one night!

We enjoyed the live salsa music in the restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant was not serving food, so we went upstairs to call room service and they said the kitchen was closed but they could see what they could do. The ended up finding a couple of items we wanted to eat and bringing them up, very quickly too! Great and wonderful service all over.

I would stay here again, especially for the price. It's not top shelf luxury like the Ritz, but again, for the price, it is a good solid quality 3 1/2 star hotel and I have absolutely no complaints, everything was wonderful and great.

P.S. i noticed some people complained about airplane noise, we didn't experience any of that, but we were inside most of the time so maybe on the beach you hear it but it wasn't a problem for us.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my girlfriend, and we were immediately blown away by the quality and spaciousness of the lobby when we entered. There is a small casino with slots, blackjack, and low limit roulette. There is a beautiful bar with a live salsa band at night, and 3 restaurants, one of them beachfront. There is a pool and also fitness room. The rooms are also very nice, and the bed was huge. Staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Pros: Nighttime salsa band, casino, great restaurants, clean, etc
Cons: distance from Old San Juan ($20 cab)

This hotel is the last on the beach which made it a very private feeling spot. This is a very slow time of year for San Juan so the beach and hotel was empty but the weather/water was still great. It only rained once during our 3 day trip and it was barely a sprinkle that lasted only 5 minutes.

The hotel is close to the airport so you will hear airplanes during your stay. However, we didn't find this to be an issue but do ask for a rom on the opposite side from the runway.

The beds were very comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The casino was nothing special and the drinks at the bar were expensive but neither were unexpected.

The hotel has bug spray at the front desk for the no-see-ums...just ask.
