“Exceptional food and service at high prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Based uppn our stay this week, Ritz Carlton deserves their excellent reputation for exceptional service. The staff was terrific and so was the food. Especially loved BLT steakhouse.
The $86/day "resort fee" was an unexpected (and exorbitant) surprise at checkout after paying $600/day for a regular room...
Food and drinks were also wonderful though quite expensive. $14 for a mojito for example.
Would love to come back here but would have to find a way to lower the total cost.

Well. The problem with the Ritz San Juan is that it happens to be located in PUERTO RICO. Haha. I've stayed here several times as a business requirement and it's a nice resort.
Nice, clean casino with a fantastic beach and pool area.

Two superb restaurants at this location. Il Mulino is a wonderful place to have dinner.
With all this said, the problem is that outside any of the hotel gates, the entire island is unappealing. Dirty, congested......

If you must go to San Juan, this is the place to stay. But if you're vacationing in the Caribbean.....go to St. Maarten or better yet, St. Barths.

If you have stayed at a ritz before don't expect the Same service or quality. The ritz in San Juan is just average. Service is lacking at the beach, pool, and club level. Rooms need updating as well as bathrooms. I am not saying its bad just not up to the ritz I have come to love i have 85 nights stayed last year. Restaurants in the hotel are good but many new and quality restaurants within a short cab ride. I wouldn't stay here again until updates are made.

Room Tip: Club level is nice on the 9 th floor.

The proximity of the Ritz hotel to the airport makes it a solid choice for a quick weekend getaway. It is a small hotel, it has a nice pool and beach.. There are two good restaurants and a casino. The service is very good. The rooms and the hallways need to be updated.

The hotel is very nice but so was the staff. Very helpful, polite and friendly.
Very nice family trip and 9 kids who after of few days get bored of the beach and pool. One of employee at the Ritz was kind enough and gave us idea to what else we could do with the kids.
the kids were all delighted and can't wait to get back there, and you know happy kids... happy Parents! So if you stay at the Ritz, look for Ramiro Blanco, He will make your stay even more Ritzy!

Room Tip: we had a suite with bedroom connected

our first impression of the room was that it was a little small but I think our expectations may not have been reasonable. The staff could not have been more friendly making our week long stay delightful. The casino is clean and didn't allow smoking that I could tell. The restaurants are very nice. Short ribs at BLT and ricotta cheesecake at the Italian restaurant were fantastic. It's the Ritz and it is expensive. There are several good places to eat within a block or two with excellent food and very reasonable prices. My wife enjoyed fresh brewed coffee in the room every morning. The beach is average but the service is first class all the way. If you make it to this property try a mojito on the beach. It couldn't be any better.

Room Tip: ocean side rooms have a very nice view. city view is somewhat lacking but a higher floor will help

Was here for a business trip. Service was great and the room, while not that large, was very trendy-looking with a modern decor (see my photos). The pool area is fantastic and the pool is massive, the pool side service was very slow but the staff were nice. Tennis courts are kind of underwhelming - just FYI for any tennis players. We had dinner on the beach for our company one night and it was amazing. The casino is pretty big so if you're into gambling it's nice being able just to go downstairs. The lobby of the hotel is actually a giant room with tons of seating and a really nice circular bar. There's also a club inside the hotel that was actually really impressive and two stories tall (make sure you wear a collared shirt or you won't get in).
