“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

The restaurant is right on the water which is nice, but you pay for the location. I had the mofongo with shrimp, it was good but seemed a little pricey for the portion size.

“By far our favorite restaurant in Isla Verde, Carolina, PR”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

This is by far our favorite restaurant in the Isla Verde, Carolina, PR area. The skirt steak, ceviche, mofungo with churasco (skirt steak) are wonderful. The location on the water is excellent - gentle waves lap against the edge of the dining area. Wonderful breezes temper the heat. The service is attentive and friendly. Great place for breakfast as well. Conveniently located between the Ritz-Carlton and the ESJ Towers, El San Juan Hotel and Intercontinental. It can be hard to locate - it's in the Hotel La Playa.
Brief update - went back again this evening. That's 2 dinners and 1 breakfast in 5 days. There was live music this evening (Friday) and terrific creamy flan in several favors. It just gets better and better.

“Nice setting and good food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

This place was recommended to us by the local we were renting from. We were staying at the end of Isla Verde, so we walked over to the restaurant for lunch. The restaurant sits right on the water and is a really nice setting. The food is a little expensive for lunch. My wife and i ordered some wraps and corn fritters. We both really liked it, but still felt like it was a little over priced.

“Amazing food, overly accommodating staff, gorgeous view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We found out about La Playita from someone walking along the beach handing out flyers. We were staying in one of the big, over priced resorts on the water and wanted a little break, so we figured we would give La Playita a try. La Playita is a little hidden gem at the end of the beach. It does not look like much from the outside, but once you walk in, you are greeted by a host of friendly and extremely accommodating employees, and a beautiful ocean front view.

We were looking for a place to eat brunch, and all though we showed up in between their normal dinning times, the manager had one of the chefs whip us up an amazing breakfast. The manager spent time talking with us, told us about the area, showed us rooms in their attached hotel, and made recommendation for places we should go at night.

Our breakfast was so good, we decided to go back for lunch. I am a strict vegetarian, and they were able to accommodate my dietary needs. My husband is not, and said their burger was one of the best he has had in a long time. We went back everyday for breakfast and lunch while we were there. By our 2nd day, the restaurant staff greeted us by name when we would walk in, and would come over to converse, as if they had known us for ages. Although their food is not cheap, it is much better priced than any of the restaurants in the nearby resorts/area.

One of our last days in PR, we walked down to dine at Playita with a group of 8 other people we had met throughout the week. Again, the staff at La Playita quickly accommodated us, gave us a round of drinks on the house and alcohol soaked fresh fruit. Everyone's food and drinks were amazing! They make great homemade tropical drinks served right in the coconut shell. They ensured that everyone in our party had a great time while we were dining with them.

We enjoyed La Playita so much, we plan on staying there during our next trip in December. It is not as opulent as some of the nearby resorts, but very clean, cozy, personable and a heck of a lot cheaper. I highly recommend La Playita for food, an ocean front cocktail, or to stay.
