“1st class lodging in a very friendly environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Lost among a small small village, what we find in this house is absolutely fantastic.
Large, gigantic bedroom, with a living room, all walled in thick stones, giving it an "old" feel, quite charming. Absolutely breathtaking views, especially from the 1st floor "deck". An old buiding (some centuries old ) rebuilt with a modern yet cosy architecture.
Amazing breakfasts, bikes to explore the area, large parking space at a very inviting price.
São Pedro do Sul and Serra de S. Macário are worth visiting, a few km from here.

Just one hour from Porto and you can be in this oasis of serenity with wonderful views. The place has very enjoyable design, is decorated with good taste and offers comfort high above the average of this type of accommodation (both rooms and bathrooms with really a lot of space, even with the extra beds that we have used for our kids).
There seemed to be various activities to be explored in the region and interesting places to visit, but our choice was just to relax and enjoy the landscape from the magnificent swimming pool. So definitely we plan to be back there again!

I have now visited Paco da Torre several times, and every time I visit I get the same feeling of being "home", because of the warm and friendly atmosphere. In Danish we have an expression, which is "hyggeligt" (roughly translated to coasy) and this is exactly the feeling you have upon a visit to this place.
Moreover, the settings both the landscape and the hotel are absolutely breathtaking. Definitely, worth a visit or two :o)

This place is a real treasure. We were welcomed by the owners (a very nice couple), who showed us around and made us feel immediately at home.
The rooms are huge. I had never stayed at a place with so big rooms. All I can say about the bed is that I am planning to buy a similar one for my house, because it was extremely confortable. Our bathroom had a very interesting shower - open space, with a glass wall and a wooden deck floor. Our kids simply loved it!
There is a very nice swimming pool (I was told its called an infinity pool, since two sides (the ones with the nice view of the valley) have no ledge, but end in a kind of waterfall), and also a pool for the kids.
Besides the nice touch of having a complementary basket of fruits and biscuits in the room, the breakfast was a very pleasant surprise - there was a very big selection to choose from, everything was well presented and there were quite a few things that looked locally sorced or homemade.

Overall, I recomend it wholeheartedly.

Paco da Torre is pure luxury! The rooms were clean and the bed was really comfortable. I also thought that the basket with fruit and bisquits was a nice detail in the room.
The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of things to try - it was really nice that e.g. the jam was home-made and that the fruit came from their own garden.
Last but not least Paco da Torre is placed in the middle of a stunning landscape and a peaceful atmosphere.. I have nothing bad to say about my stay there.

This is the 2.nd time we have visited the place with our 2 kids. Normally we like to go to different places, but here we feel at home, even though it is so different from what we are used to. The rural Portugal offers a lot of nice and different places, not yet spoiled by mass turism, but Paco da Torre is exceptionel and worth a visit:-)
